You just can’t make this stuff up. Per a CNN report today, a five-year old boy was pulled over the police in Utah. The reason for his joyride? He was on his way to California to purchase a Lamborghini.
The Utah Highway Patrol revealed the news on their twitter account, sharing a photo of the boy in the driver’s seat of his parents car, with his face blurred out since he is underage. Apparently, the boy had only $3 in his pocket. He had an argument with his mother, who refused to purchase the luxury vehicle for her young son– understandably. The boy wasn’t having it, and decided to take matters into his own hands, hopping in his mom’s SUV to get it done himself.
The Utah Highway Patrol spotted the boy, unaware it was just a child in the driver’s seat. The highway patrol officer thought there was an impaired driver behind the wheel when he pulled the vehicle over– the car was weaving on Interstate 15 at 30 mph.
“One of our Troopers in Weber Co. initiated a traffic stop on what he thought was an impaired driver. Turns out it was this young man, age 5, somehow made his way up onto the freeway in his parents’ car. Made it from 17th and Lincoln in Ogden down to the 25th St off-ramp SB I-15,” the Utah Highway Patrol tweeted.
Trooper Rick Morgan is the one who pulled the boy over. He revealed to CNN that he had to help the boy put the SUV into park, “He was sitting on the front edge of the seat so that he could reach the brake pedal to keep the car stopped while I was standing there.”
Luckily, no one was hurt. It will be up to a local prosecutor to decide if they would like to pursue any charges against the boy’s parents. The boy was in the custody of his siblings at the time the incident occurred.
