Those who are with the shits probably remember seeing Doja Cat pop up years ago on the Internet in the Tumblr era but in the past year, she’s transformed into a star in her own right. Not only has she finally seen mainstream success but she did it without having to compromise her artistry or who she is as an online personality.

This past week, she emerged with the remix to “Say So” along with a verse from the one and only Nicki Minaj. In a recent interview with Nick Cannon, she explained how she’s been longing for this collaboration for a while now, though it “happened very quickly.”
“It was a conversation for a long time,” she said. “And I was like, ‘This is who I want, this is who I want. Please God, please, please, please.’ And it just happened.”
The interesting part is that it all began as a joke with her fans on Instagram Live where she’d say “featuring Nicki Minaj” after everything. “But that was so long ago but then it happened and I feel like I manifested it or something,” she added. She explained that even though it happened, she was surprised with the verse like everyone else. “It wasn’t discussed before so it was a surprise for me too, but she killed it as per usual.”
