The Rolling Stones have opened their first flagship store today (September 9) in central London — check out pictures of the inside of ‘RS No. 9 Carnaby’ below.
Situated on 9 Carnaby Street in Soho, the shop is stocking a wide range of Stones records and memorabilia, including “an exclusive mix of collections and collaborations for fans of all ages” and a bespoke T-shirt customisation station.
Inside the shop, fans will find many of the band’s lyrics daubed on the glass floor, while the fitting rooms are adorned with the artwork from the band’s albums ‘Exile on Main Street’ (1972) and ‘Some Girls’ (1978).
Acknowledging that, given the current climate, now is “a bold time to launch a permanent retail space in London”, it’s still hoped that ‘RS No.9 Carnaby Street’ will provide a major long-term boost to music tourism in London.
In a statement, the Stones said of ‘RS No. 9 Carnaby’: “Soho has always encapsulated Rock ’n’ Roll so Carnaby Street was the perfect spot for our own store.
“We are confident this exciting project that our friends at Bravado have created will be an unrivalled experience for everyone to come to London and enjoy.”
In addition to the physical opening of ‘RS No. 9 Carnaby’ , an online shop is also set to go live this week.
Earlier this week, Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger said that the band are hoping to get together to write and record new material soon, but only by doing so “in safe circumstances”.
