Interpol has officially announced their highly anticipated new studio album, This Mirror Weighs a Ton. The record, which marks the band’s debut on Partisan Records, is scheduled for release on August 28. This project serves as the group’s first full-length offering in four years, following the 2022 release of The Other Side of Make-Believe.
Produced by Andrew Wyatt and mixed by David Fridmann, the album was recorded in New York City, marking the band’s return to their hometown for the recording process for the first time in over a decade. According to the official press release, the album promises an expanded sonic palette, incorporating woodwinds, intricate vocal harmonies, and experimental sound design alongside the band’s signature guitar-driven aesthetic.
To coincide with the announcement, the band has shared two new tracks: the title track, “This Mirror Weighs a Ton,” and “See Out Loud.” Both songs showcase a shift toward more layered, atmospheric production.
