Daughters Of Reykjavík share calcium-packed ‘Hot Milf Summer’ video

Daughters Of Reykjavík have dropped off their latest single, ‘Hot Milf Summer’ – you can watch the song’s video below.

  • READ MORE: Daughters Of Reykjavík – ‘Soft Spot’ review: uncompromising feminist rap collective spit some truth

The feminist hip-hop trailblazers’ new track comes after four of the nine members recently became mothers, which in turn inspired them to deliver an empowering message of motherhood.

“The song is an anthem written by hot mothers for hot mothers, as well as all fans of mothers in general,” members of the 9-piece rap collective formerly known as Reykjavíkurdætur said in a statement.

Arriving on the heels on last year’s ‘Soft Spot’ album, ‘Hot Milf Summer’ sees Daughters Of Reykjavík reunite with previous member Jóhanna Rakel (aka Stepmom), who is also a part of the Icelandic trio CYBER.

The track, which is the first preview of the collective’s forthcoming new EP, comes alongside a provocative new video that includes breast pumps, nudity, male models and “50 litres of breastmilk”.

You can watch the video for ‘Hot Milf Summer’ below:

Speaking about the accompanying video, the Daughters said they are “exploring the duality of motherhood: Madonna and the Whore, and how these dualities co-exist. Oh and the music video also features 50 litres of breastmilk. Whether it’s squirting, pouring, raining or spilling you can be sure that you’ll get wet one way or another.”

The collective, which includes a sex therapist, glacier guide, actor, gay night club owner, radio host, graphic designer, and sound engineer, will play Reeperbahn Festival in September and Iceland Airwaves in November. See the full list of dates below:

T.I. makes Lil Nas X comparison as he defends DaBaby’s homophobic comments at Rolling Loud Festival

T.I. has used Lil Nas X to make a bizarre defence of DaBaby, who has come under fire for a homophobic rant he delivered during a performance at Miami’s Rolling Loud Festival.

Appearing at the festival last weekend, DaBaby told the crowd: “If you didn’t show up today with HIV, AIDS, any of them deadly sexually transmitted diseases that’ll make you die in two or three weeks, put your cellphone light up.

“Ladies, if your pussy smell like water, put your cellphone light up. Fellas, if you ain’t sucking dick in the parking lot, put your cellphone light up.”

After many criticised the rapper’s statements as homophobic, he doubled down in his Instagram stories in a lengthy series of 19 videos.

“What I do at a live show is for the audience at the live show. It’ll never translate correctly to somebody looking at a little five, six-second clip from their goddamn crib on their phone. It just don’t work like that,” the rapper said.

DaBaby this is weird to say?? Wth. pic.twitter.com/MDBQEZ2NsA

— ➰ᴺᴹ (@KingSeanSwae) July 26, 2021

He added of the show: “Me and all my fans at the show, the gay ones and the straight ones, we turned the fuck up.

“I’m talking about my boy that was at the front of stage left where I jumped, ask him. He got clips all on his shit, the whole night was recording. We were turning up the whole night. My boy had the crop top on front row. He out there in that jungle, in that water. He out there cutting up. He knows the words to the song. I’m rapping them bitches with ’em.”

T.I. subsequently supported DaBaby in a video posted on social media, which equated the rapper’s comments during his set with Lil Nas X‘s openness about his sexuality in his music.

“For instance, the Lil Nas X shit. The performances and video, man I got a lot of respect for bruh because he had the courage to live his truth, but that shit ain’t for me… Just can’t look at it… And I don’t want my children seeing it, either,” he said.

He expanded on that comment later on in the video, saying, “If you have a Lil Nas X video, and him living his truth, you gone damn sure have people like DaBaby who are going to speak they truth. There ain’t nothing wrong with none of that. It ain’t got to be no hate, it’s all honesty.”

Responding to his comments, one fan wrote: “TI said if lil nas x can be gay in peace da baby should be able to be homophobic in peace. It’s really something wrong with that man.”

T.I is yet to respond to the criticism.

Metal Church frontman Mike Howe has died, age 55

Mike Howe, frontman of American heavy metal outfit Metal Church, has passed away. He was 55 years old.

The band confirmed the sad news on their Facebook earlier today (July 27), revealing that he passed away in his California home. A cause of death hasn’t been revealed.

“It is with our deepest regrets that we must announce the passing of our brother, our friend and true legend of heavy metal music,” the band wrote.

“Mike Howe passed away this morning at his home in Eureka, California. We are devastated and at a loss for words. Please respect our privacy and the Howe family’s privacy during this most difficult time.”

Posted by Metal Church on Monday, July 26, 2021

Howe joined Metal Church in 1988, after a two year tenure fronting California thrash metal act Heretic. He then fronted the band until they disbanded for the first time in 1996.

Howe didn’t return to Metal Church until almost two decades later in 2015, after the band had already reunited with founding Howe’s predecessor David Wayne and subsequently disbanded once more.

Overall, Mike Howe made five studio albums with Metal Church – 1989’s ‘Blessing In Disguise’, 1991’s ‘The Human Factor’, 1993’s ‘Hanging In The Balance’, 2016’s ‘XI’ and 2018’s ‘Damned If You Do’.

Heretic also posted a brief tribute to Howe, saying they were saddened to hear of the passing of the band’s former vocalist.

Todd La Torre, vocalist for heavy metal act Queensrÿche, also shared a tribute to Howe, referring to him as his “sweet friend”.

“RIP my sweet friend,” La Torre wrote on Twitter.

“I have no words for this loss. Love and respect to you always.”

Lynyrd Skynyrd’s Gary Rossington expecting to make “full recovery” after emergency heart operation

Gary Rossington of Lynyrd Skynyrd is expected to fully recover from a recent emergency heart procedure, the band have said.

Last week, the band’s singer Johnny Van Zant told a Minnesota crowd that Rossington had to have an “emergency stent put in his heart,” a procedure used to prevent arteries from closing. Damon Johnson has been announced as a temporary replacement on guitar.

In a subsequent social media post, they confirmed that Rossington is now resting after the operation, and hopes to make a full recovery.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Gary Rossington as he recovers from emergency heart surgery. Gary is home resting and recovering with his family at home. He wants everyone to know he is doing good and expects a full recovery. After this past year, the country being shut down and everything we have all been thru, The Rossington’s encouraged the band to go perform in his absence. Music is a powerful healer! We all felt playing the shows and bringing the music to y’all was a better option than cancelling the performances. We wish Gary a speedy recovery and we will see the Skynyrd Nation very soon! Please do us a favor and say some prayers for the Rossington family and if you would like to leave him a (positive) message please do! He will look forward to reading them!

Rossington is the only founding member of Lynyrd Skynyrd still playing with the band. Johnny Van Zant is the younger brother of late original vocalist Ronnie, while founding bassist Larry Junstrom died aged 70 in 2019.

In 2018, former Lynyrd Skynyrd guitarist and musician Ed King died at the age of 68.

King passed away at his home in Nashville. A message on the guitarist’s Facebook page confirmed his passing, adding: “We thank his many friends and fans for their love and support of Ed during his life and career.”

Lil Uzi Vert has put his $24million head diamond back in

Lil Uzi Vert has reimplanted his $24million diamond back into his head after removing it last month.

  • READ MORE: Lil Uzi Vert – ‘Eternal Atake’ review: this generation’s Lil Wayne embarks on a dizzying odyssey of sound

The rapper unveiled the new look in February and said that the pink rock is “10, almost 11 carats”, and also the most expensive purchase he has ever made.

Despite a representative for jeweller Elliott Eliantte claiming that the diamond was as “safe as any other piercing”, Uzi claimed last month that the rock was causing him bleeding, and that he would need to have it removed.

Over the weekend, ahead of his performance at Rolling Loud Miami, the rapper showed off a new tongue tattoo in a video that also showed he had put the pink diamond back in his forehead.

In the clip, Uzi labels himself a “Rager” as he sticks out his tongue to reveal the newly inked tattoo. You can see the video below, followed by some photos of him having the tattoo done.

In other Uzi news, the rapper reportedly has his sights set on buying a planet, an acquisition which – if it were to go through – would make him the “first human to legally own a planet”, according to Grimes.

Grimes tweeted last week that documentation was “almost complete” for Uzi to legally claim the planet WASP-127b, a gas giant exoplanet 1.4 times larger than Jupiter that was discovered in 2016.

The rapper tweeted that he had “tried 2 surprise everyone” and that he was “still working on it”. On Friday (July 23), he asked his Twitter followers what he should name the planet.

Meanwhile, Trippie Redd has released a synth-driven new single titled ‘Holy Smokes’, featuring guest vocals from Lil Uzi Vert.

Grimes says she’s appearing on Lady Gaga’s ‘Chromatica’ remix album

Grimes has revealed that she will be among the contributors on Lady Gaga‘s forthcoming ‘Chromatica’ remix album.

  • READ MORE: Lady Gaga – ‘Chromatica’ review: pure pop celebration from an icon in a world of her own

She revealed the news during a stream on her Discord server yesterday (July 26), saying that delays to the release allowed her to contribute.

“I missed the deadline but it got moved back so now we can do my monologue,” Grimes told fans.

A release date and full tracklist for the ‘Chromatica’ remix album has yet to be announced, however a number of guests are expected

In May, Bloodpop, who executive produced the original ‘Chromatica’ album, hinted that both Rina Sawayama and Charli XCX would feature on the remix, while confirming later in the month that Dorian Electra will definitely appear. Bree Runway has also said she’s appearing.

Earlier this month, Bloodpop told fans that the album is “Insanely good,” and that a release date will emerge “hopefully soon.”

On the same Discord stream where she revealed her involvement with the ‘Chromatica’ remix, Grimes also debuted a number of new songs.

She played five unreleased tracks during a set for Australian virtual reality festival Splendour XR: ‘Shinigami Eyes’, ‘Love Is A Drug From God’ with Chris Lake, ‘100 Percent Tragedy’, ‘Utopia’ and ‘Player of Games’.

On ‘100 Percent Tragedy’, Grimes explained that the track was “about having to defeat Azealia Banks when she tried to destroy my life”, referencing a 2018 incident when Banks allegedly spent days at Elon Musk’s house, making accusations against him on social media.

In earlier months, Grimes has described her follow-up to 2020’s ‘Miss Anthropocene’ as a “space opera” centred around a lesbian AI being.

Tape loops, drones and The Tibetan Book Of The Dead: Inside The Beatles’ Revolver sessions at EMI Studios

As they approached the making of Revolver, The Beatles couldn’t have known that they’d just enjoyed their last carefree year. In 1965, they had made Help!, played Shea Stadium and visited Elvis and the Queen. Just before Christmas, as was now their habit, their second album of the year had been released. Rubber Soul still sounds like the perfectly balanced expression of a pop band with artistic ambitions, expanding their creative range without jeopardising the relationship with their vast and adoring public.

The following year would be different.

They started 1966 still shining still like a four-headed Sun King, dispensing rays of unsullied happiness. But in February, during an interview with the Evening Standard, John Lennon compared their popularity with the statistical decline in Christian worship. He was trying to say how ludicrous it seemed, but the subtlety of his point was ignored in America’s Bible Belt, where Beatles records were promptly piled up into bonfires.

In July, the group released an album in America titled Yesterday And Today, its cover showing the four of them smiling as widely as usual while holding the bloodied body parts of dolls. Another uproar forced its withdrawal. They were starting to tread on dangerous ground.

Revolver arrived in August, on schedule, but it was the result of a very different creative process. Their debut album, Please Please Me, had been recorded in a single day. Rubber Soul had taken 80 hours of studio time. Revolver took 220 hours, the result of a band suddenly liberated from constant live performances and from an aborted third feature-film project. Now so successful that they were free from the imposition of studio budgets, they were able to use Abbey Road as a laboratory.

Listen to Bryson Tiller’s soul-stirring new track ‘One Sided’

Bryson Tiller has dropped off a surprise new track, ‘One Sided’ – you can listen to it below.

  • READ MORE: Bryson Tiller talks shunning the spotlight and how Kanye West inspired him to pursue his dreams

The Louisville R&B star’s latest track, which is produced by 30Roc, Bass Charity, Hue Strother and DaBlackMic, follows the release of last year’s ‘Anniversary’, Tiller’s third studio album.

Nurturing a broken heart, Tiller sings: “I don’t wanna make no scene, but yes I’m hurting (I’m really hurting now)/ If he swear you wanna be, I guess you deserve him (yes, you deserve him)/ And you don’t need no stress from me, I guess/ I should just leavе, I guess.”

Opting to not put the track out on major streaming platforms, Tiller released ‘One Sided’ via Soundcloud. You can listen to it below.

Tiller is currently busy at work on his next album, ‘Serenity’. In February, the singer revealed that the project will be a triple disc effort: one rap disc, one R&B disc, and one pop disc.

“I started it a long-ass time ago,” Tiller explained during an Instagram Live. “Like, before ‘True To Self’, but I wasn’t in the right headspace to make it. Then after ‘True To Self’, you know, I was depressed and shit; I had some shit going on in my life. Actually, I was depressed before that, but still was a little depressed after that even more because of different shit.

“So I started up ‘Serenity’ again because I was at a better place in my life; I was feeling better about shit…then over years I realised how much fucking music I had for ‘Serenity’ – all these different shits. So ‘Serenity’ is now, it’s not one album, it’s three albums.”

Earlier this year, Ty Dolla $ign and Jhené Aiko teamed up with Bryson Tiller for a remix of their 2020 collaboration ‘By Yourself’.

Metallica’s Kirk Hammett reflects on band’s 40th anniversary

Metallica‘s Kirk Hammett has reflected on the bands 40th anniversary in a new interview.

Along with bassist Robert Trujillo, Hammett spoke to George Kontos about the band’s four decades and their plans for the future.

Via Blabbermouth, Hammett told Kontos: “Man, it’s crazy when I think about four decades. ‘Cause I swear to God, it seems like just yesterday that we were on a tour bus somewhere in the middle of America, just trying to keep up with everything…40 years passed so quickly. It’s amazing.

“What’s truly amazing now is the fact that I still feel like we haven’t really peaked, we’re still real hungry, we still wanna make music, we still care about music, we still care about each other. I don’t see any signs of us slowing down, man, ’cause we have stuff that we wanna do.”

Trujillo added: “You know, what’s insane about all this is that there’s no shortage of musical ideas and riffs and grooves and bass lines.

“A lot of times when bands have been around that long, there is a shortage — people run out of ideas — and we have the opposite problem; we’ve got too many ideas. So it’s a good problem to have.”

Meanwhile, the band also recently shared three new versions of their song ‘Wherever I May Roam’ to mark the 30th anniversary reissue of ‘The Black Album’. They followed recent covers from the likes of St. Vincent, Sam Fender, Biffy Clyro, Diet Cig, and Miley Cyrus.

Remastered for ultimate sound quality, the reissue will be available in multiple configurations including 180-gram double vinyl LP, standard CD and 3CD expanded edition, digital, and limited-edition deluxe boxset.

The boxset will contain the album remastered on 180-gram 2LP, a picture disc, three live LPs, 14 CDs (containing rough mixes, demos, interviews, live shows), six DVDs (containing outtakes, behind the scenes, official videos, live shows), a 120-page hardcover book, four tour laminates, three lithos, three guitar picks, a Metallica lanyard, a folder with lyric sheets, and a download card.

The special 30th anniversary edition of ‘The Black Album’, is set for release on September 10. You can pre-order it here.
