Megan Thee Stallion Shares Famous Tupac Clip To Explain Rioting Against Racism

Megan Thee Stallion used some of Tupac’s famous wise words to express why Black Americans are rioting against racism in the wake of George Floyd’s murder.

Megan Thee Stallion let Tupac speak for her to explain why Black folks are rioting across the country to protest George Floyd’s murder by police. As these demonstrations continue to spread across America and tensions begin to rise, many observers have criticized rioters for looting and destroying their communities rather than conducting peaceful marches and protests against racism. However, others have pointed out that Black folks have reached beyond their limit of this type of treatment, and that this is the only thing left to do.

Megan Thee Stallion shared a famous clip of Tupac from an interview in 1994 in which he uses a metaphor to explain why Black folks are no longer asking to be treated equally after centuries of oppression. “If I know that, in this hotel room, they have food every day, and I knock on the door every day to eat,” Tupac explains in the clip, “and they open the door, let me see the party, just throwing food around, and they’re telling me there’s no food in here. Every day….”

“I’m standing outside tryna sing my way in: ‘We are hungry, please let us in,'” he continues. “After about a week, that song’s gonna change to ‘We hungry, we need some food.’ After two, three weeks, it’s like, ‘Give me the food or I’m breaking down the door.’ After years it’s like, I’m pickin’ the lock, comin’ through the door blastin’. It’s like, you hungry, you reached your level. We asked ten years ago. We was asking with the Panthers. We was asking with the Civil Rights Movement. Now those people that were asking, they’re all dead or in jail, so now what do you think we’re gonna do?” Megan then captioned the post, “We’ve been asking.”

Ben Simmons Dons "I Can’t Breathe" Shirt Amid George Floyd Protests

Ben Simmons had some poignant thoughts on the death of George Floyd.

Ben Simmons is one of the most high-profile players in the NBA although we don’t always hear from him outside of the basketball court. Well, it appears as though the Philadelphia 76ers star is looking to change that in light of the police killing of George Floyd. Simmons is outraged by what has happened and recently, he took to Instagram where he made a statement.

In the post below, Simmons can be seen wearing an “I Can’t Breathe” t-shirt along with a heartfelt caption in which he speaks about the racism in America and how it must come to an end. He is also urging everyone regardless of race to speak up against racism and police brutality.

Per Simmons:

“Witnessing the news the past few weeks & hearing the outcry has given me a lot to think about. It is time for everyone, from all walks of life, to get comfortable with voicing & calling out the uncomfortable subject of Blatant Racism that exists heavily within our society. We are ALL accountable & we shouldn’t have to revisit tragedies like George Floyd or Ahmaud Arbery time & time again. 6 years ago I put on this tee shirt to show solidarity & we’re still fighting. Enough is enough.”

Simmons’ message is a strong one and we hope many of his fans and peers listen intently. This could very well be one of the greatest issues of our time.

Disturbing New Clip Shows 3 Officers Pinning Down George Floyd

In the clip, George Floyd can be heard calling for his family and fearing for his life.

George Floyd’s story is one that we have heard all too often in the United States of America. This past week, Floyd was killed in Minneapolis, Minnesota after a cop pinned him to the ground and kept his knee on him for just shy of nine minutes. Derek Chauvin, the cop responsible for Floyd’s death, has been arrested and charged with third-degree and manslaughter. As it stands, the other officers involved are also expected to be charged and many are waiting for justice to be served.

Today, a new video emerged which shows another angle of Floyd’s killing although this one is much more chilling. As you can see in the clip below, the person is filming the incident from behind. Floyd is being pinned to the ground by three officers while another one is watching from in front of the cop car. It even seems like the cops are intentionally keeping Floyd behind the police cruiser so that others can’t see what’s happening.

What makes the video that much more disturbing are Floyd’s pleas for help. Floyd can be heard asking the officers to let him stand up although they won’t listen and continue to apply pressure despite Floyd’s troubled breathing.

The video displays a truly egregious act of police brutality and we can only hope that justice is served moving forward.

Minneapolis & St. Paul Mayors Impose Mandatory Curfew

The curfew begins at 8 pm tonight.

After three consecutive nights of growing protests and looting, and hundreds of businesses destroyed and damaged by fire in the Twin Cities, Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey and St. Paul Mayor Melvin Carter III both announced Friday that there will be mandatory curfews in pace in both cities this weekend.

The curfew is for all public spaces and is set to begin Friday night at 8 p.m. and extend until 6 a.m. Saturday morning. The curfew will then take place again Saturday night into Sunday morning.

Mayor Frey said in the Emergency Regulation, “All law enforcement, fire, and medical personnel, as well as other personnel authorized by the City of Minneapolis, City of St. Paul, the Minnesota Department of Public Safety, Minnesota State Patrol, or Minnesota National Guard, are exempt from the curfew.” Mayor Carter added that exceptions will be made for members of the media in St.Paul.

Violation of this order will result in a misdemeanor, punishable by a fine of up to $1,000 or imprisonment of up to 90 days.

Earlier this afternoon it was also announced that Derek Chauvin, the former Minneapolis police officer responsible for the murder of George Floyd, was taken into custody and charged with third-degree murder and manslaughter.

This news comes after President Donald Trump violently suggested in a tweet this morning that he was going to order the shooting of protestors in Minneapolis if they continued to demonstrate.

This Nike KD 13 features an iconic color scheme.

Kevin Durant has had his very own signature shoe with Nike ever since he entered the league and just like many of his peers, he has made a huge impact in the sneaker world. His shoes from the early 2010s are highly regarded as classics although every single model he drops has been highly rated by ballplayers who are looking for some affordable performance shoes. George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, & Breonna Taylor Protests Planned For Atlanta Today

A protest will take place this afternoon in Atlanta after the killings of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, and Breonna Taylor.

Say their names. Say them loud and say them proud. George Floyd. Ahmaud Arbery. Breonna Taylor. All three of them were killed by senseless violence -- either by police brutality or by white individuals.

Don Lemon recently said that there are currently two viruses killing Americans: COVID-19 and racism. Many would agree with that statement as yet another video of an unarmed black individual being killed by police was released after 46-year-old George Floyd died at the beginning of this week.

Protests and riots have taken place across the country and, this afternoon, the city of Atlanta will come together to fight for George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, and Breonna Taylor.

According to 11Alive, protests in Atlanta are set to begin at approximately 4 PM today at Centennial Olympic Park and the CNN Center. Fliers have been distributing throughout social media with the hashtag #ATLFORUS. A moment of silence is set to take place at 4:20 PM outside the Capitol.

Protestors are being asked not to incite violence or destroy property, to practice social distancing (to their best abilities), record all events, and administer aid to those who need it.

Action needs to be taken after the killings of three innocent people in George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, and Breonna Taylor. If you are able to attend the protests in Atlanta today, consider doing so.
