Justin Bieber is maintaining the spirit of his music video for the Quavo-featured “Intentions” with his latest philanthropic move. In the visuals for the song, which dropped Friday, Justin and Quavo give back to those in need and highlight various hardships that plague the subjects of the video. This commitment to spreading awareness and doing good deeds was mirrored by Justin during a taping of MTV’s “Fresh Out Live” on Friday. After the music video premiered, Justin announced his donation of $100,000 to a local fan’s mental health awareness cause.

The fan in question, Stockton University student Julie Coker, became an advocate for the university’s chapter of the Active Minds organization, after getting diagnosed with depression herself. “I work for mental health now because of my own mental-health struggles in the past,” she revealed. “It’s important for us to talk about mental health because more than 50% of us will have a mental-health challenge in our lifetime.” She has helped screen about 5,000 students for depression, suicide risk, and eating disorders, and has participated in the #HugMore campaign.

Julie notes that Justin, who was the first artist she saw in concert at the age of 13, “has a big following, so if he has a good message about mental health, hopefully everybody else…will want to start thinking about mental health in a different way.” Justin has been open about his struggles with mental health in the past, even cancelling the remainder of his “Purpose” world tour in July 2017 due to depression and exhaustion. Along with his donation to Julie’s cause, Justin has partnered with Alexandria House, a transitional housing program that provides shelter and support for women and children in emergency situations. Justin and Quavo are shown saluting and supporting three women from Alexandria House in the “Intentions” video, and now Justin has set up an INTENTIONS fund of $200,000 to benefit the organization. The good deeds just keep on coming.

TDE‘s SiR has quickly become one of R&B’s leading men, bringing no shortage of Inglewood soul to his recent slew of releases. Now, the singer has linked up with NPR for a Tiny Desk Concert, the ideal platform to highlight his impressive vocal chops.

Though he opts to skip the beautiful banger “Hair Down,” SiR spends some time with a few of his more soulful cuts. The fifteen-minute performance features stripped-down renditions of “The Recipe,” “New Sky,” “Wires In The Way” and “John Redcorn,” all of which stem from last year’s Chasing Summer. His emotive voice is captivating off the bat, sliding effortlessly into a vibrant falsetto; there’s a rawness to his tone, laid bare without processing to fall back on. 

Fueled by love, SiR even brought his older brother and sister to handle the backup vocals. After making the introductions, SiR took a moment to dedicate the performance to his godson’s memory. “So December 31st 2019, I lost my godson,” he reveals. “He was fourteen months old. His name was Sir Harrsion. I want to say my condolences to his family and tell him I love him. We’re doing this today for him. Last week, in the realm of hip hop releases, we were able to dedicate most of our focus to Lil Wayne‘s album, Funeral, as it was a week otherwise filled with new singles. This week, that is not the case. We got blessed with a bunch of great projects and we’re thrilled to add some of their hottest cuts to our Spotify playlist, “FIRE EMOJI”. 

Pop Smoke is one of the most buzzing rappers in the game right now, so it was an ideal time for him to follow last July’s Meet The Woo EP with a full-length sequel. Meet The Woo 2 boasts thirteen tracks and a bunch of features. Pop Smoke enlisted fellow up-and-comers like Fivio Foreign and Lil Tjay for earthquake-inducing bangers, but he also collaborates with heavy-hitter Quavo to “Shake The Room”. The beat was too crazy on that one to not include it in our playlist.

While we knew Meet The Woo 2 was coming, Denzel Curry and Kenny Beats caught us by surprise on Friday with their collaborative project, UNLOCKED. The rapturous tracks came accompanied by an animated short film that you must see and may have raised the bar for creative rollouts in 2020. Kenny Beats, whose producer tag is ubiquitous these days, furnishes the Miami rapper with ferocious beats that match his uncontainable energy. “DIET_” is a perfect example that these two pair perfectly. 

Last but not least, we have a single for you. Not just any single, but a Nicki Minaj single. The queen herself came out of semi-retirement this week to drop off “Yikes”, a song title that is fitting given the scandalous week she had, but we’re not gonna get into that now. This is about “Yikes”, a searing assertion that Onika cannot be played with. God bless The Barbz for bullying her into completing and releasing the track this week.

“I wish I had one more shot,” Dwayne says to began his emotional tribute. “I wish I had one more shot to say goodbye … to say I love you, to say thank you, but I have a feeling he’s watching. He’s listening.” 

He walks through learning about his dad's passing, his father's legacy and his impact on the wrestling community and other stories.

“What’s amazing to me now, after a day like today after we come here and we give our respect and our love, he’s galvanized, he’s responsible for galvanizing families now," he said reflecting on how a loss like this can bring family together. "Because through processes like this, we’ve all lost loved ones, but guaranteed when we walk out of these doors, we’re going to hold each other a bit tighter, we’re going to hug each other a bit harder, we’re going to kiss each other and we’re going to say, ‘I love you,’ and we’re going to be a bit more present.”

Rocky Johnson died of a heart attack on January 15th at the age of 75.

As one of the many scripts he wrote back in 2019, revealed on IG last month as a strong example of his work ethic, a revival of Tyler Perry’s House of Payne has been one of the famed producer’s most anticipated projects so far. Now, it looks like we’ll be seeing it come to fruition way sooner than expected.

It’s no surprise that Tyler Perry would revisit his popular sitcom that aired on TBS from 2006 to 2012, especially given the consecutive NAACP Image Award wins the show received for “Outstanding Comedy Series” in 2008, 2009 (seen above), 2010, 2011 and 2012. According to Deadline, the revival will actually be more of a continuation by serving as a new season that picks up five years later from where we last saw the Payne family. All the original stars are set to reprise their roles, including LaVan Davis as “Curtis Payne,” Cassi Davis Patton as his wife “Ella Payne,” Lance Gross as “Calvin Payne,” Demetria McKinney as “Janine Shelton-Payne,” China Anne McClain as “Jazmine Payne,” Larramie “Doc” Shaw as “Malik Payne,” Keshia Knight Pulliam as “Miranda Lucas-Payne” and finally Allen Payne as “C.J. Payne.” Although re-runs of the original series have already been airing on BET, the network will be the official home for Perry’s reboot when it arrives this summer.

A Thai soldier has gone on a shooting spree, attacking both a military base and a shopping mall on Saturday, according to The New York Times.

Amber Heard and new girlfriend, cinematographer Bianca Butti, attended a WME Pre-Oscar event in Los Angeles on Friday, days after an audio recording of Amber admitting to “hitting” ex-husband Johnny Depp was leaked to the public. This tape serves as evidence in an ongoing domestic abuse case that Amber originally launched against Johnny, accusing him of physical abusing her in their marriage. Johnny had always maintained his innocence by denying her claims, and even pursued legal action to sue her for defamation. Amber responded to the defamation lawsuit last year with stories about various alleged incidents in which he abused her, where she claimed Johnny was often too ‘drunk’ to remember what had happened. However, this resurfaced recording in which she admits to hitting Johnny appears to demonstrate that she abused him.

As for her new romance with the cinematographer? “Amber and Bianca are dating and hooking up,” a source told The Daily Mail. “Amber is not trying to be low key about it. [She] feels comfortable kissing Bianca and holding her hands in public at this point. They started as friends and it turned into something more.”

Amber and Johnny’s defamation case has been pushed back from its original February start date, after Johnny failed to meet a deadline to submit his drug and alcohol use records. The case is set to begin in August later this year.

The first United States citizen has died as a result of contracting the Coronavirus, according to The New York Times.

It looks like Birds of Prey will not be soaring as high as expected at the box office. The DC Extended Universe film is projected to bank only $12.6 million on Friday, which puts it on track for a $33.5 million opening weekend. This falls short of previous estimates, as noted by Deadline, which had the film performing within the $50 million to $55 million range. While Warner Brothers anticipated an opening weekend closer to $45 million, the film would still fail to meet these expectations. Thursday night previews were a bust as well, raking in a measly $4 million which is actually included in Friday’s $12.6 million estimate. As Birds of Prey had a budget of $80 million, these Friday night estimates present the possibility that the female-led film will ultimately cost the studio money.

The international box office projections for Birds of Prey were also a lot higher than the ultimate opening weekend results, with an estimate of $60 million to $70 million. These estimates appear to have been wishful thinking, as Birds of Prey only grossed $7.8 million between Wednesday and Thursday from 51 international markets. The Margot Robbie lead film’s lowering score on Rotten Tomatoes may be a reflection of these disparities. When the previews were released, the film had a high score of 92%, but it has dropped 10% since the film premiered to 82%. Birds of Prey stars Margot Robbie reprising her role as Harley Quinn from 2016’s Suicide Squad. Alongside Margot are Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Huntress, Jurnee Smollett-Bell as Black Canary, Rosie Perez as Renee Montoya, and Ewan McGregor as Black Mask.

There are plenty of people vying for spots on reality television shows in hopes of expanding their brands. A surefire way to become a well-known figure, and maybe even a celebrity, is to land a position on a popular series. However, not everyone who involves themselves with such platforms is happy with the result, and after watching their bad behaviors, they often regret their reality television features. Not K. We’ve watched as she’s shaken tables, popped people in the face with flowers, gotten her wig snatched off by a woman she was sleeping with, and engaged in multiple screaming matches with her Love & Hip Hop co-stars. While others like Evelyn Lozada and Draya Michele have spoken openly about regretting some of the decisions that they’ve made on reality television, K. Michelle said she wouldn’t take back a thing.

While speaking with Out Loud with Claudia Jordan about hitting Mimi Faust in the face with roses, she said, “I wouldn’t take that back…that was necessary.” The singer also said that she’s never tried to reconcile relationships that went sour. “I don’t care about them girls,” she added saying that those friendships were one-sided. “They were never my friends. They just wanted camera time. One of ’em even said that.”

K. revealed that the only person she’s friends with from Love & Hip Hop is Karli Redd, but Claudia wanted to know about the singer’s ongoing feud with Joseline Hernandez. K. Michelle laughed at the suggestion of her and Joseline collaborating on a song together.
