Royce Da 5’9" Calls Yelawolf "David Duke" As Tension Heats Up

Royce Da 5'9" fires off some shots at a former collaborator.

Royce Da 5'9" has positioned himself for quite the year. For one, his entirely self-produced album The Allegory is slated for release on February 21st, marking a new milestone for the storied Detroit lyricist. And while the full project is still weeks away, the lead single "Overcomer" has already been eliciting plenty of strong reactions -- especially from those who still have love for the "2.0" iteration of Shady Records. Those who have heard the track likely remember a string of brutally honest bars aimed at Yelawolf, bars that some might even call "fightin' words." And from Royce, those are the types of words nobody wants to be on the receiving end of.

Yelawolf this is your first and your last pass
I ain't gon' put it on blast, your punk ass know what this about
You think it's about being loud or trying to be hostile
Till you get found face down on the ground outside of Kid Rock house
Though you a vulture pundit I hope you get sober from this
Men like, women lie, so do numbers

While the origin of the feud has yet to be fully revealed, Royce actually discussed his frustrations on The Joe Budden podcast. "It's a situation going on, especially in hip-hop. We have all kinds of different people, but we have white people who come into the business and they use the culture," explained Royce. "We got a very open culture, it's here for everybody to thrive. Some white people use that, and then go and do very evil things behind closed doors. Racist things. They make comments. It got to a point in life where if I see it, hear it, or am involved in it in any type of way, I have to start holding these people accountable."

To make matters more interesting, Royce's brother Kid Vishis fired off some shots at Yelawolf in December, tweeting "If Yelawolf is in your top Anything as far as rap/hiphop besides top Trash, let me know ASAP so I know can zap you." He proceeded to double down with a simple yet effective "fuck that dude." While Royce maybe sure to emphasize that this was not, in fact, a diss -- it's clear his warning will leave Yelawolf feeling some type of way. Perhaps even a response; Yela was clearly looking for smoke back when he fired shots at G-Eazy and Post Malone. And smoke, it appears, is what he shall have.

While promoting a video for his own "You And Me" video, Yela took a shot at Royce in the caption, writing "numbers do lie don't they Royce, yo Eminem get your hypeman before the wolves do...I ain't worried." Never one to miss a beat, Royce made sure to screenshot Yela's shot, using the opportunity to raise the stakes in the process.  "I can remove you quicker than you Deleted this post, David Duke and nobody can stop me. See, you want it to be one way... But it’s the other way," retorts Royce, memories of "Malcolm X" lingering in the faint traces of his threat.

On what's already shaping up to be a busy-ass day, it looks like we've got another interesting narrative shaping up. Be sure to catch Royce on his new single "Overcomer," or on Eminem's surprise album Music To Be Murdered By.

Will Smith May Be Working On A New Album

Big Willie Style redux.

Though Will Smith has cemented himself as a high profile movie star, his roots are firmly fixed within hip-hop. Look no further than a recent interview with Sway, in which he took it back to the Fresh Prince era without breaking a sweat. Though his bars tend to be a little on the PG-rated side, there’s a charm to hearing Big Will take to the mic, if only for the nostalgia. Think about all those glorious movie-themed bangers, from “Men In Black” to “Wild Wild West.” Luckily, it would appear the legendary rapper slash actor isn’t ready to hang it up quite yet — not without delivering a final goodbye on wax.

TMZ actually caught up with the Bad Boys For Life star in New York, and the cameraman inquired about the possibility of a new album. “Maybe, potentially,” says Will, affirming that it “could happen.” If so, it would be Will’s first project since 2005, when he dropped off Lost & Found. In the interim, he has come through with the occasional verse, with his most recent being on Logic‘s Confessions Of A Dangerous Mind track “Don’t Be Afraid To Be Different.”

Would you be interested in a full album from The Fresh Prince? Or are you content to see him strictly in front of the camera?

Tommy Davidson Recalls Jamie Foxx’s "Mean" & "Competitive" Ways On Set

They may have brought in laughs together, but they certainly weren’t friends off-camera.

Academy Award-winning actor Jamie Foxx has come a long way in his career since his start as a small-time stand-up comedian. He’s put in the work to become an A-list actor, but according to his former In Living Color co-star Tommy Davidson, Foxx wasn’t always the easiest person to work with. The pair starred on the hit 1990s comedy show and repeatedly worked together on hilarious scenes that have gone down in television history, but Davidson shares in his forthcoming memoir that Foxx often acted like a “mercifully mean” bully.

In Davidson’s book Living In Color, which hits shelves on January 28, the actor gave a few examples of how Foxx would allegedly do his best to get under Davidson’s skin. He wrote about working with Foxx on In Living Color during a scene when Foxx portrayed hs famous, less-than-attractive female character Wanda. In the scene, Wanda gives Davidson’s unsuspecting character a massage, but according to Davidson, Foxx decided to do a little improv and attempted to pull Davidson’s underwear off in front of the audience for a “cheap laugh.”

Davidson admitted his initial reaction was to “bust him in his mouth, saying, ‘What the f–k, motherf–ka!’” but he didn’t. He also called Foxx a “competitive” type who teased Davidson in order to “score points” with In Living Color creator Keenen Ivory Wayans. The pair also worked together in the future on the comedy film Booty Call, but Davidson said Foxx was “determined to steal every scene he could” even though he was a supporting role.

Once, Davidson said Foxx even took a low blow while they were playing one-on-one on the basketball court. “If I had hit my head on the hardtop concrete, that would have been the end of me,” he wrote, according to Page Six. “I was ready to give Jamie some street-fighting lessons too, but the crew pulled us off each other and held me back.” He added, “Maybe [Foxx is] a better person now. I would like to believe he is.” Check out the massage scene Davidson referenced, below.

Future & Drake Drop "Life Is Good" Merch Inspired By Their Day Jobs In The Track’s Visuals

Everything is available for pre-order on Future’s online store.

The official “Life Is Good”-inspired merch has been officially unveiled and is available for pre-order purchase on Future‘s official online store. The collection is based off of the music video for the Drake-featured track, in which Future and Drake had to stretch their imaginations in order to pull off pretending to work at various regular day jobs. Their positions working at places like a fast food restaurant, a mechanic’s garage, and their version of the Apple store in the Fred-Foster-creatively-directed visual were used in the designs for various pieces in the collection.

The collection includes a black T-shirt with a red “Hotlanta” logo embellished on the chest, the same logo found on Drake and Future’s uniforms from the fast food chain where they work in the music video. The T-shirt also has “Life Is Good” and “Future” printed on the back, matching the print found on the front of the grey hoodie from the collection. There’s also a classic trucker hat available with the name “Future” embroidered on the panel, mechanic’s style. The collection also features some collectibles, such as a cassette tape, CD and signed 7” vinyls of the track. Each of the vinyls feature a different logo of one of the companies that the rappers worked for in the visuals as the sleeve art. The apparel ranges in price from $35 USD to $65 USD, while a digital download of the track starts the collectibles at $0.69 USD and the signed vinyls cap off the collectibles price at $13.98 USD.

Rae Sremmurd’s Mom Opens Up About Half-Brother Allegedly Killing Stepfather

Rae Sremmurd’s mother Bernadette Walker speaks on the murder of her ex-husband.

Bernadette Walker, the mother of Rae Sremmurd‘s Slim Jxmmi and Swae Lee, has broken her silence on the death of her ex-husband, Floyd Walker, a man who raised the musical duo. Their half-brother, Jamil Ali Sullivan, known as Michael, was “detained on a psychological hold” following Floyd’s death and then “released from a local psychological care facility and immediately arrested for murder,” Tupelo PD told People.

Speaking to the publication, Bernadette said that Michael was diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder and had a complicated relationship with Floyd. The case is still being investigated as a homicide. She explained that he was aggressive when he wasn’t taking his medications and previously got into physical altercations with herself and her fiance. “He said when he took the medication, it helped. He said he didn’t like to take the medication because it made him sleepy,” she said. “He’s a very social person and he loves music when he’s on his medication.”

“I’m not going to say that, ‘Something like this was unexpected,’” Walker said. “Of course even though it wasn’t unexpected, you still don’t expect it. He has threatened me multiple times. This very well could’ve been me. He has shot guns more than once.”

She also spoke on Swae and Slim Jxmmi, explaining that the two have been grieving in private. “It’s been a few days and everybody’s trying to give them space and let them process what happened,” she said “It’s still unbelievable. They’re making funeral arrangements and everything. They’re broken but they have to keep on because obviously they still have obligations. They’re just dealing with it as best they can.”

Although upset about the situation, she explained how this is an example of how the mental health system has failed her and many other Americans.

“There were so many red flags. Even before I sent him back to Tupelo, Michael had been hospitalized more than once this year and each time they put him in a facility, they kept him for about two weeks. They didn’t really do anything for him, they just kept him, like babysitting,” she explained.

Ja Morant’s Status For 2020 Dunk Contest Revealed

NBA gonna have to go back to the drawing board.

Memphis Grizzlies rookie point guard Ja Morant has captivated the league in the first half of the season with his dazzling ball-handling skills, sensational passes and rim-rocking dunks. Morant's explosive athleticism and extraordinary leaping ability made him a prime candidate to participate in the 2020 Slam Dunk Contest next month, but unfortunately fans will just have to settle for his in-game jams.

According to Yahoo Sports' Chris Haynes, the 20-year old guard has decided not to participate and will instead focus on "maintaining good health for the duration of the season." That said, Morant hasn't ruled out competing in future contests.

The Grizzlies No. 2 overall pick has lived up to the hype through his first 35 NBA games, averaging 18 points, 3.5 rebounds and 6.9 assists while leading Memphis to a 19-22 record which is good enough for eighth in the Western Conference.

As for the rest of the 2020 Dunk Contest invitees, it has been reported that Miami Heat forward Derrick Jones Jr. and Los Angeles Lakers center Dwight Howard have both agreed to participate. However, Howard recently denied that he had signed on for his fourth Dunk Contest.

Two-time dunk champion Zach LaVine was the fourth invitee and his decision still has not been made. According to ESPN's Eric Woodyard, LaVine is considering the invitation, and he'll be "more likely" to participate if he is selected to the Eastern Conference All Star team. The 24-year old high flyer captured the crown in 2015 and 2016 after outlasting Orlando Magic forward Aaron Gordon in dramatic fashion.

Moniece Slaughter Explains What’s Really Going On Between Apryl Jones & Lil Fizz

Moniece Slaughter has come through with updates.

The latest break up possibility runs between Apryl Jones and Lil Fizz ever since the duo stopped following each other on Instagram a few weeks back. After Apryl kind of confirmed that something was up, new reports suggested that the ordeal was a set up for Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood and was being used as a way to bring more drama to the show.

While Apryl and Lil Fizz have decided to stay mute on any new updates surrounding their relationship, Lil Fizz’s ex Moniece Slaughter has decided to share some tea on the matter. “They’re still very much together. Still living together, and she has not lost custody” of her kids, Moniece explained. “The pictures she’s been posting of her and her daughter with the stripper pole in the background are in Dreux’s house. The video of her sleep on the floor Christmas Day and toasting with her friends was at Dreux’s house as well.”

Apparently the silence from the couple is because Apryl and Omarion are dealing with custody issues and one of the stipulations is that Omarion doesn’t want Lil Fizz in his children’s life as much as he is. “She’s in and out of court with Omari,” she added. “They unfollowed each other to get the public off their asses. But they still going strong. Kam Facetimed him for bed two Mondays ago, and she was in the background. He made sure to put her in the frame.”

Atlanta Hawks, Minnesota Timberwolves Trade Details Announced

Jeff Teague returns to the Hawks as part of three-player trade.

Former Hawks point guard Jeff Teague is heading back to Atlanta as part of a three-player trade announced on Thursday.

According to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, Atlanta acquired the 31-year old veteran, as well as 26-year old guard Treveon Graham, from the Minnesota Timberwolves in exchange for Allen Crabbe. The move opens up an extra roster spot for Minnesota which could come in to play as part of a bigger deal ahead of the league's February 6 trade deadline.

The Hawks drafted Jeff Teague 19th overall out of Wake Forest in the 2009 NBA Draft, and he spent his first seven seasons with the team. During that time, Teague averaged 12.1 points and 5.2 assists per game while helping the Hawks reach the post-season in each season.

According to ESPN, the Atlanta has an offensive rating of 108.2 with Trae Young on the floor, and 90.7 off it, so they were clearly in need of a back-up point guard. In 34 appearances with the Wolves this season, Teague is averaging 13.2 points and 6.1 assists per game.

As of Thursday, the Hawks (9-32) are just percentage points behind the Golden State Warriors for the worst record in the NBA. Minnesota, meanwhile, is sitting at 15-25, just 3.5 games back of the eighth seed Memphis Grizzlies.
