Clairo, Blood Orange, King Krule and more have been announced as performers for Mustafa‘s London Edition of his Artists For Aid Benefit gig.
The concert will focus on benefitting humanitarian efforts in both Palestine and Sudan. Other acts set to perform include Bint Mbareh, Daniel Caesar, Earl Sweatshirt, Nicolás Jaar, Ramy Youssef, and Yasiin Bey.
The Artists for Aid show will take place at the Troxy in London on Thursday July 4. The gig is in partnership with War Child UK and follows the first edition that took place in New Jersey at the beginning of this year. Visit here to purchase tickets.
“London! Sudan is calling. Gaza is calling. Every artist here is a hero of empathy, thank you for answering our call. Tickets are on sale at artistsforaid.org at 5pm today. There is a war, strike a chord, cry an answer,” read the caption of Mustafa’s Instagram post announcing the gig.
The first edition of the Artists For Aid Benefit gig saw the likes of Clairo, Stormzy, Omar Apollo, 6lack, 070 Shake, Charlotte Day Wilson, Mohammed El Kurd, Nick Hakim and more perform.
In an Instagram post , Mustafa wrote: “We worked tirelessly to bring this to you, but our fatigue is not even a splinter of what we’ll be singing for. In the last few years I visited both my homeland Sudan, and Palestine.
“My visit to both had a principal intention, to connect with artist communities, with young organisers – for parallels of sorrow and hope and faith. The violence in both nations seized the dream. Here it is revived for me in someway. The intention remains, on this evening we give our voices to make room for theirs.”
In other news, the likes of Brian Eno and members of Fontaines D.C., R.E.M, Bastille and more recently read out letters from Palestinians suffering in Gaza as part of a ‘Voices For Gaza’ initiative.
The clips have been shared on the Instagram page for Voices For Gaza, and sees famous faces from across the entertainment industry read letters from those in Palestine aloud, recalling the graphic details of the war.
