A few weeks ago, Lil Durk came through with his new album Just Cause Ya’ll Waited 2, an appetizer for his long-awaited project No Auto Durk with Metro Boomin. And while Durk has remained relatively active throughout this past year, Metro has been different story. For the most part, the acclaimed and influential Atlanta producer has been moving rather quietly, seemingly dedicated to working closely on a variety of different collaboration albums. Today on Beats 1 Radio, Durk took a moment to open up about the No Auto Durk sessions, which remain ongoing.

Specifying that the Metro project will be far more “turned up” than the highly personal Just Cause Ya’ll Waited 2, Durk reflects on how working exclusively with the producer is the dream of many rappers. “Metro don’t make himself highly accessible,” explains Durk. “For you to be different, to have Metro, it’s like bet. You do Metros with the Drakes, Futures, Thugs, 21 Savages, everybody don’t get a Metro by themselves.” When Ebro asks how many songs the pair will ultimately lay down, Durk isn’t quite sure.
“I don’t really know,” he admits. “We just record. One day, he’ll say thirteen. The next he’ll say nine. We record until it’s time. I want to do at least forty songs.” He also reveals that he doesn’t want many features on the project, though he would save a spot for Young Thug. “Future, Gunna, Baby, Meek,” continues Durk. “They’ve been showing me a lot of love since day one.”
