The Trumps’ marriage has been under scrutiny since way before they became the President of the United States and the First Lady. The presidential campaign trail four years ago made the wealthy couple the target of critics, and while they have occupied the White House, many have called into question the authenticity of their romance. We may never know if Donald and Melania Trump are truly in love, but a new book by a Washington Post reporter has reportedly given insight into the life of First Lady.

The Art of Her Deal: The Untold Story of Melania Trump is set to hit shelves next week, but a few controversial notes from the book have hit the media circuit. Author Mary Jordan states that the book is comprised of information gathered in more than 100 interviews and gives the world a sneak peek into how Melania made a few power moves before agreeing to move into the White House.

In the book, Jordan writes that Melania had to take a breather after the sexual assault allegations against Trump surfaced. Jordan states that she spoke with three people close to Trump who confirmed that Melania took the opportunity to renegotiate her prenup, adding a clause that would secure their son Barron’s future so that he won’t be “shut out of the family business.” The concerned mother wanted to make sure Barron Trump was seen as an equal to his older siblings.

Melania’s spokesperson issued a statement denying the allegations made by Jordan. “Yet another book about Mrs. Trump with false information and sources. This book belongs in the fiction genre,” said Stephanie Grisham, Melania Trump’s chief of staff. She suggested that Melania Trump delayed moving into the White House because she wanted to make sure that the transition wasn’t overwhelming for Barron who was only 10-years-old at the time.
