Rick Ross has been formally arraigned on one count of misdemeanor battery following a court hearing held on the morning of Friday, October 30, 2026. The 50-year-old artist was initially arrested on October 1 in connection with the charge, alongside an additional count of felony battery by strangulation. However, Florida prosecutors have since opted not to pursue the more serious felony charge.
During the proceedings, the rapper entered a plea of “not guilty” to the remaining misdemeanor count. Speaking to NBC 6 South Florida, Ross’s attorney, Brad Horenstein, maintained his client’s innocence, stating, “There are serious doubts about this case. These are fabrications.”

The legal proceedings were initially scheduled for October 22, but were delayed after prosecutors requested additional time to finalize the formal charges. The case stems from an alleged incident occurring in late August. According to reports, Ross’s ex-girlfriend, Jazzma Kendrick, alleged that the rapper assaulted her, claiming he struck her and slammed her into a wall. These allegations were first brought to public attention via social media in late September before a formal report was filed with the Miami Beach police.
Following the initial arrest, a judge imposed a stay-away order prohibiting the rapper from contacting Kendrick, including any communication via social media platforms. The court also set his bond at $5,000.
