During #BlackOutTuesday, politicians and celebrities wanted to make sure the public wasn’t so caught up in the movement that they forgot that many states were holding primary elections. Pennsylvania, Maryland, Indiana, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Iowa, Montana, New Mexico, and Washington, D.C. held congressional primary elections, so Rihanna took to her Instagram account to encourage people to vote. Most of her followers supported her efforts, but one wasn’t as thrilled.

“VOTE. Ya ain’t got sh*t else to do man!” the singer penned in a caption to a photo that listed the eight states holding elections along with D.C. “Get yo ass off the couch and go vote!!! I don’t wanna hear another excuse!! Stop believing that your vote and voice don’t matter! This the illest way to protest…vote for the change you want!!!” One fan didn’t agree with Rihanna, so they replied, “Voting ain’t gon change sh*t.”
It isn’t an uncommon stance, but RiRi wasn’t having it. “Sick of hearing this!” she responded. “Ya knew what ain’t gon change sh*t? Not doing sh*t?” Are you an advocate of voting, or do you agree with the Instagram user? Sound off in the comments and read the exchange below.
