One year on from Ozzy Osbourne’s death, his wife Sharon has revealed the advice he gave her to remember him, and his Black Sabbath bandmates have paid tribute to the late icon.
The heavy metal pioneer passed away on July 22 last year, aged 76. To mark the first anniversary, the inaugural “Ozzy Day” was held in his Birmingham hometown, featuring performances of Black Sabbath classics and tributes from fans across the globe.
Reflecting on her late husband’s wishes for how he should be remembered, Sharon Osbourne shared a poignant sentiment in an interview with the BBC. “As Ozzy would say, ‘When you want to remember me, just yank up the music really loud, as loud as you can get it, and just head bang,’” she recalled.
Sharon noted that she remembers him most for his authenticity and humor. “We could have the worst arguments in the world but we would end up laughing because he would say something so ridiculous that we would just crack up,” she added.
Ozzy’s former bandmates also took the time to honor his legacy. Bassist Geezer Butler expressed his gratitude for their final performance together, stating, “Gone in body, but his legend lives on. Such incredible memories. Ozzy forever!”
Drummer Bill Ward shared a message on X/Twitter, writing, “Every day, there is a persistent silence. We miss you so much.”

Guitarist Tony Iommi echoed these sentiments, noting that he still feels Ozzy’s presence. “I watch him on YouTube and it feels like he’s still here with us. There will never be another Ozzy. I miss you my dear friend.”
