Aaron Rodgers and Green Bay Packers fans around the world were put into a complete state of shock during the first round of the NFL Draft as the team picked up a quarterback in Jordan Love. Rodgers is one of the most talented quarterbacks to ever play the game so the idea that Rodgers would be replaced on terms others than his, was unfathomable. Well, the Packers are clearly drawing a line in the sand and now, Rodgers is speaking out.
During a virtual press conference today, Rodgers was asked about the Love pick and his answer was pretty devastating. As he explains, he was hoping to finish his career as a Packer but at this point, that doesn't seem probable.
Per Rodgers:
"It was more the surprise of the pick based on my own feelings of wanting to play into my 40s. And the realization that it does change the controllables a little bit because as much as I ... there are some factors that are out of my control. My sincere desire to start and finish with the organization, just as it has many other players over the years, may not be a reality at this point. And as much as I understand the organization's future outlook... and I respect that... at the same time, I still believe in myself and have a strong desire to play into my 40s, I'm just not sure how that all works together at this point."
These should be heartbreaking words for Packers fans everywhere. Rodgers is an NFL legend and his absence will certainly be felt, if and when it comes.
Brett Favre Says Aaron Rodgers Job "Is Not To Mentor Jordan Love"
Brett Favre gives his take on the Packers’ selection of Jordan Love in the first round.
Brett Favre spoke about his advice for Aaron Rodgers regarding the Packers’ 2020 1st round pick, Jordan Love, during an interview on ESPN Wisconsin’s Wilde & Tausch.

“Aaron’s job is not to mentor Jordan Love,” Favre says. “Aaron’s job is to win football games for the Green Bay Packers. That’s what he’s paid to do, and that’s what he’s going to do.”
Easy comparisons have been made between the Packers drafting Rodgers while still having Favre on the roster and the packers drafting Love while still having Rodgers on the roster. Favre infamously said about the situation at the time, “My contract doesn’t say I have to get Aaron Rodgers ready to play. Now, hopefully, he watches me and gets something from that.”
Favre goes on to explain how the dynamic might work between Rodgers and Love this season: “I can’t tell you how many times Aaron would ask, or just tag along and watch film with me. And he would ask questions like, ‘What are you looking at here? What are you thinking? Why did you check?’ Things like that. And I would certainly offer my reasons. Would I go out of my way to cultivate that relationship? Or say, ‘Hey, why don’t you come watch film with me?’ No. I’m not going to go out of my way. But if you ask, I’m not going to say no.
“I think Aaron will do the same thing. Again, this is 15 years that Aaron has played and played unbelievably well. And I don’t see any signs of him slowing down. There’s no reason for him to fear anything. At some point, someone’s going to replace you. You know that. I think our situations are so, so similar, but there is that one big difference—they drafted this kid just months after almost making it to the Super Bowl. So you would think they would go with an immediate need. That’s a big difference from my situation.”

Aaron Rodgers Breaks Twitter Silence Over Packers Draft Pick
Aaron Rodgers seems to be fed up with the notion that he's mad at the Packers.
By now, every NFL fan is aware of the Green Bay Packers' controversial decision to draft a quarterback in the first round. Jordan Love will now be Aaron Rodgers' backup and will most likely be his replacement once he retires or leaves the Packers. The decision has some fans fearing the worst about Rodgers' future in Green Bay and some pundits think he is even going to request a trade because of the disrespectful gesture made by his team.
Rodgers has said very little on the topic until recently when he started liking a whole bunch of messages on Twitter. One of the tweets that stands out is a shot at Packers reporter Rob Demovsky who suggested Rodgers is upset with the team. The Twitter user lashing out at Demovsky said Rodgers is a grown man who understands the business of football and that he isn't shaken up by the team's decision. Rodgers' use of the like button is a sure sign that he agrees with the message being conveyed and that he has no qualms about what the Packers decided to do.
It remains to be seen how things work out in Green Bay although for now, it's clear that the Packers are already toying with life after Aaron Rodgers.
Needless to say, next season is about to be a whole lot of fun.
Aaron Rodgers Reacts To Packers Drafting Jordan Love
Aaron Rodgers is now reaching out to his new backup following the Packers’ controversial first-round choice.
If you’re a fan of Aaron Rodgers and the Packers, Thursday night was an infuriating endeavor as the team essentially drafted his replacement in the first round. Jordan Love was taken with the 26th overall pick and fans were stunned that the Packers would betray Rodgers by drafting a backup QB instead of an actual offensive weapon like a wide receiver. Needless to say, the Packers are already looking towards the future while fans want the team to win right now.
There have been various theories as to how Rodgers is taking this news right now but as it turns out, he is handling it quite well. According to Maria Taylor, Love has been in contact with Rodgers who seems excited to become his mentor.

“I was able to talk with him earlier,” Love said. “Really good guy. Just congratulated me, and I was just letting him know that I was excited to be able to work with him.”
It remains to be seen whether or not Rodgers will be happy to have Love around next season although at least the Packers know they have a solid guy in place if Rodgers gets injured. Of course, this isn’t the ideal scenario for anyone but it looks like Rodgers and Love are ready to make the most of it.

Skip Bayless Revels In Aaron Rodgers’ Pain Following NFL Draft
Skip Bayless has been talking about Aaron Rodgers' decline for years.
Green Bay Packers fans were absolutely stunned last night when the team traded up in order to draft quarterback Jordan Love. Of course, for the last 15 years, they have been blessed with the presence of Aaron Rodgers who is one of the greatest quarterbacks to ever play the game. It appears as though the Packers are already planning for the future and fans seem to think this move is very premature. In fact, they would have preferred it if the team had drafted an offensive weapon for Rodgers to throw to.
Undisputed co-host Skip Bayless has spoken at length about Rodgers' decline and on Friday, he did so once again as he reveled in the fact that the Packers now have plans to move on. As he told Shannon Sharpe, Rodgers isn't even good enough to make it in the league until 40 years old.
"Aaron Rodgers just got slapped in the face," Bayless said. "The Packers are thinking the future could be sooner rather than later." Bayless has always had some sort of grudge against Rodgers although it's probably because he has dominated his Dallas Cowboys over the years. Regardless, there is no denying that Bayless will be happy to see Rodgers out of the league in short order.
As for Packers fans, well, things are about to get interesting next season.
Stephen A. Smith Disgusted With Packers For Aaron Rodgers Slight
The Green Bay Packers drafted Aaron Rodgers' replacement in the first round last night.
Aaron Rodgers has been a legendary quarterback for the Green Bay Packers over the last decade and while he only has one Super Bowl, there is no denying that he is one of the best QBs in the history of the game. Unfortunately, Rodgers' struggles in the postseason aren't exactly his fault. It is mostly because he has been given horrible defenses and very few weapons on offense.
Last night, the Packers had an opportunity to draft Rodgers a QB in the first round of the NFL draft. Instead, they drafted his future replacement, Jordan Love. Packers fans were livid with the move, including Stephen A. Smith who had a lot to say about the matter on First Take. In fact, Smith thinks Rodgers should be asking for a trade, immediately.
"He should feel disgusted. He should feel insulted. And as far as I'm concerned, if I was Aaron Rodgers I'd ask to be traded," Smith said.
After 15 years in Green Bay, it would certainly be hard for Rodgers to work up the courage to ask for something so bold. He is a minority owner of the Milwaukee Bucks and has a lot invested in the state of Wisconsin.
Regardless, it's now clear that the Packers are already looking towards the future. If you're Aaron Rodgers, you can't help but be slightly offended.
Aaron Rodgers Takes Jovial Jab At 49ers Star Richard Sherman
It’s all love.
Aaron Rodgers and his Green Bay Packers will have their work cut out for them on Sunday night as they take on the San Francisco 49ers. The first time these two played against each other this season, the 49ers won in a 37-8 blowout. Heading into the NFC Championship Game, the 49ers are 7.5 point favorites which means the Packers have virtually no pressure on them. Rodgers loves being in the underdog position, even is he has to go up against a star cornerback like Richard Sherman.
During a recent interview with “The Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz,” Rodgers spoke about his potential matchup with Sherman and even through a loving shot at him. For those who don’t remember, Sherman recently got on Baker Mayfield’s case for not shaking hands with him prior to a game. As Rodgers explains, he will make sure Sherman feels respected heading into the game.
“No, I’m definitely gonna shake his hand pre-game,” Rodgers said jokingly. “Show him the respect, mutual respect. It’s gonna be all love and respect.”
Of course, Rodgers was only joking and has a great deal of respect for Sherman. The 49ers corner is always a threat when he’s on the field so the Packers will be extra careful when it comes to throwing to his side of the field. Rodgers is known for avoiding interceptions and we’re sure the NFC title game will be no different.
Aaron Rodgers Takes Shots At Critics Who Call Packers "Average"
Rodgers is seeking his second Super Bowl.
Aaron Rodgers has been one of the best quarterbacks of the past decade. He kicked off his Green Bay Packers career with a Super Bowl and has been seeking a second shot at glory ever since. Despite making the playoffs numerous times, Rodgers and company simply haven’t been able to get back into the big game. This season, the team finished their campaign with a 13-3 record which was good enough to get a first-round bye.
Despite the team’s successful season, critics have been quite harsh on the Packers. The team is constantly squeaking out tight victories and hasn’t exactly been very convincing. Regardless of their record, it’s clear that the Packers are an underdog to go to the Super Bow. As you can imagine, Rodgers isn’t a big fan of this characterization.

“You guys like telling us how we’re just kind of an average team that knows how to win,” Rodgers said according to Matt Schneidman of The Athletic. “But the key point is the ‘win’ part, because right now we’re two wins from the Super Bowl, and we know for sure the first one’s gonna be here.”
The Packers will know who they’re playing in the Divisional Round, as of Sunday night. No matter who they play, we’re sure it’s going to be a great game.
