Al Roker and Craig Melvin were given the morning off on Monday after a staffer at the Today show tested positive for the novel coronavirus. NBC News announced live on air that the staffer was on the morning program’s third hour show, although they kept their identity hidden.
“Personal note, for this show: Last night we learned that a colleague of ours on the third hour of ‘Today’ has tested positive for COVID-19, the novel coronavirus,” said co-host Savannah Guthrie. “So out of an abundance of caution, Craig and Al have taken the morning off, so we can trace their contacts, see what’s going on with them. We promise to keep you posted. Both are fine right now. They feel good. But caution is the order of the day.”
“We’re just trying to play exactly by the rules. said “Today” co-anchor Hoda Kotb. “We hope and wish that they come back soon,” she added. Check out the announcement (below).
In an overnight memo to staff, Noah Oppenheim, the president of NBC News, said the company was working to reduce the spread of the virus among staff.
“As you know, we have been preparing for this possibility and are taking all necessary steps to ensure the health and safety of our teams, which includes multiple deep cleanings of our offices, control room, and Studio 1A,” said Oppenheim in the memo. “Additionally, we are identifying employees who had been in close proximity to the affected employee and—while not required to do so by the NY Health Department—are in the process of asking those who had close contact to self-isolate.”
They did not disclose when the exposure to coronavirus occurred. Today Show suspended the live audiences that typically gather around the show at 30 Rockefeller Plaza starting on Thursday, March 12. We’ll keep you posted if anything more comes out of this.
Chance The Rapper On Bond With Kanye: "Paired Together By God"
Chano speaks on his divine bond with the “Jesus Is King” hitmaker during a new interview with “3rd Hour of TODAY” for NBC News.
Both Chance The Rapper and Kanye West have been at odds with the public in recent times, the former in regards to public disappointment with his “debut” album The Big Day and the latter, well, should we start with his support of Donald Trump or that now-famous “slavery was a choice” declaration? With all that said, it makes perfect sense that Chano has declared his well-known friendship with Yeezy to be divine according to a new interview with Al Roker for NBC News.

Both rappers have shared many great moments over the years, including their embrace at the 2016 MTV Video Music Awards (seen above) and that one time ‘Ye almost took over Chance’s wedding just to name a few. While speaking to Roker, the Acid Rap emcee compared their relationship to iron sharpening iron, going on by adding, “I do fully believe, now more than ever, that we were paired together by God and that we’re supposed to be in each other’s corner.” While he adds that they don’t always agree on the same issues, Chance confirmed that they have the sort of relationship that it’s more along the lines of constructive criticism. Hey, isn’t that what friends are for?

Tory Lanez, Future & Blac Chyna Get In On Hoax Broomstick Challenge
The #BroomstickChallenge started trending after false claims that NASA said Monday was the only day a broom can stand on its own.
If you've been on social media in the past day, you've probably seen this thing called the Broomstick Challenge trending. Someone on Twitter claimed, "according to NASA," that Monday was the only day a broomstick can stand on its own. Then Tory Lanez jumped into it before it really spread like wildfire. The rapper took to Instagram where he shared his experience with the #BroomstickChallenge. "Sup, man? This is science with Black folk," he said. "Today, NASA said that the polarity in the earth can keep a broom standing by itself," he continued before making the broom stand up. "This is real. Suck my dick," he concluded as he walked away.
Shortly after Tory shared his video, other celebrities followed suit including Future and Blac Chyna. Future shared a photo of himself seated while smoking a blunt next to the standing broom while Blac Chyna did her own rendition of Ciara's choreography from "Promise" with a broom instead of a microphone stand.
Unfortunately, this all turned out to be a hoax, according to several astronomers and Al Roker who hit debunked the theory of the TODAY show this morning. Roker explained that you can pretty much do it any day of the week because of the short bristles on a broom that act as a tripod. Whodathunkit?
