There is truly no NFL team that Stephen A. Smith hates more than the Dallas Cowboys and when they make a decision he disagrees with, he makes sure to let the franchise know. Recently, the Cowboys shocked the football world as they signed Andy Dalton to a one-year deal where he will presumably be the backup to none other than Dak Prescott. This signing would seem pretty innocent if it weren't for the fact that Prescott in the midst of some pretty contentious contract negotiations with Cowboys owner, Jerry Jones.
Today, Smith weighed in on the decision on First Take and he completely ripped into the Cowboys, as expected. Smith believes the Cowboys are sending the wrong message to Prescott and that if they're not careful, the QB's relationship with the team could be damaged moving forward.
Smith also noted that Prescott has done a lot for the Cowboys and even supported Jones in regards to the Colin Kaepernick anthem situation. In fact, Smith insinuated that race could be a factor as he believes the Cowboys would have given Prescott a blank check if he were someone like Tony Romo.
The Cowboys and Prescott still have a lot of ground to make up here and if negotiations last well into training camp, we could see Dalton become the Cowboys starter on a temporary basis.
Dez Bryant Rips Into Cowboys For Andy Dalton Signing
Dez Bryant is weighing in on the Cowboys decision to sign Andy Dalton.
Last night was a pretty surprising one for Dallas Cowboys fans as their team decided to sign the likes of Andy Dalton to a one-year deal. Dalton was recently released by the Cincinnati Bengals and many thought he would want to be a starter somewhere. By going to Dallas, he has basically guaranteed that he will be a backup to Dak Prescott next season.
However, Prescott is currently in contract negotiations with the Cowboys and both sides seem to be at odds. Former Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant has been watching this situation closely and last night, he sounded off on the Dalton signing. As he explains, the Cowboys need to stop disrespecting their star QB.
"Nothing against Andy dalton because I think he’s a great player..but the cowboys are extremely out of line... Pay Dak... I watched the cowboys pay Tony Twice once without a winning rec... I guess the cowboys viewing the QB position a plug in piece because of the dominant offense," Bryant wrote.
Bryant knows what it's like to go through these contract talks so his insight is fairly interesting. Not to mention, he has played for the Cowboys and knows just how much money they bring in every single year.
Over the next few weeks, it will be interesting to see how Prescott's negotiations will play out, especially with the addition of Dalton on the roster.
Andy Dalton Signed With The Cowboys And Twitter Had Jokes
Andy Dalton just made the Dak Prescott contract negotiations a lot more interesting.
Andy Dalton has been eliciting a ton of interest from NFL teams ever since being released by the Cincinnati Bengals. It was believed that Dalton would want to be a starting QB and that the New England Patriots could be his best bet. Instead, he decided to shock football fans on Saturday night as it was reported that he would be signing with none other than the Dallas Cowboys.
As it stands, the starter for the Cowboys is Dak Prescott which means Dalton will be taking a backseat and is going to be the backup. However, Prescott is currently in contract negotiations and they don't appear to be going well. With this in mind, some believe Dalton could become the Cowboys go-to guy if Prescott ends up holding out into the start of the season.
Prescott and the Cowboys have been a hot topic amongst NFL fans over the last little while so it isn't surprising that people immediately started to make jokes on Twitter, in regards to the signing. Many believe Prescott's days in Dallas are numbered although believing that wouldn't be very smart. Dalton is simply a fallback option if things go horribly wrong with Dak.

Andy Dalton Receives Interest From A Second AFC East Team
Andy Dalton could be on his way to the Big Apple.
Andy Dalton was recently released by the Cincinnati Bengals after the team drafted Joe Burrow with their first overall pick. At the end of the day, the Bengals' decision to release Dalton was entirely based upon his own request. Dalton believes he is good enough to be a starter in the NFL and he is hoping to make a splash with a new team.
Over the past week or so, there have been discussions that the New England Patriots would be the ones most interested in signing Dalton. Now, another AFC East team is reportedly throwing their hats into the ring. According to Rich Cimini of ESPN, the New York Jets could end up being the ones to land Dalton.
It's important to note that the Jets are simply looking into Dalton and that they have no immediate plans to sign him. Of course, it is a possibility although the Jets already have a starter, albeit, an unproven one, in Sam Darnold. If Dalton were to join the Jets, it's ambiguous as to whether or not he would get to be the starter right away.

Andy Dalton Reportedly Eliciting Interest From The Patriots
Andy Dalton is now a free agent following his release from the Cincinnati Bengals.
Andy Dalton enjoyed quite a bit of success during his first few years with the Cincinnati Bengals although it never resulted in a playoff win. During Dalton's tenure, the Bengals went 0-4 in the postseason, and just last year, the team had the worst record in the NFL. As a result, the Bengals were awarded the first overall pick in the NFL entry draft and they ended up choosing quarterback Joe Burrow from LSU.
Dalton was well-aware of his future in Cincy and decided to ask to be released, thus making him a free agent. According to Bengals reporter Tyler Dragon, Dalton is already receiving quite a bit of interest from teams around the league. Two of the franchises that are the most interested are the Jacksonville Jaguars and, of course, the New England Patriots.
Ever since the Patriots lost Tom Brady to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, there have been rumors that the Patriots could go after a big-name quarterback. Dalton certainly fits that bill for the team although Cam Newton is still available if they so choose. Regardless, Dalton won't have a hard time finding work again.

Andy Dalton Released By Bengals Following Request
Andy Dalton is now officially a free agent.
When the Cincinnati Bengals finished the season with the worst record in the NFL, it became clear that they would be looking to draft a quarterback with the first overall pick in the NFL entry draft. Of course, that's exactly what they did as they chose Heisman Trophy winner Joe Burrow. This meant that QB Andy Dalton's days in Cincy were numbered and today, his fate was sealed. According to Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network, the Bengals have officially released Dalton from the team, thus turning him into a free agent.
As it turns out, Dalton's release was entirely up to him. The veteran QB doesn't want to be anyone's backup and with the Bengals shifting their focus to Burrow, it only made sense that Dalton requested to be let go.
At this point, it remains to be seen what the market will be for Dalton, considering he has very limited playoff experience and hasn't had very good results in the last few years. Regardless, teams like the New England Patriots appear to be in need of an experienced QB and perhaps Dalton can fill that role.
