Avengers: Endgame's loss at the Oscars last weekend set a new record, as the MCU film became the only one of the ten highest-grossing films that has been nominated for an Oscar not to win any awards at all. Despite the fact that it beat Avatar as the highest-grossing movie of all time, Avengers: Endgame lost the award for Best Visual Effects, the only award it was nominated for at the Oscars this year, to 1917.

Since Gone with the Wind won 10 Oscars in 1939 (8 competitive, 2 honorary), nine of the then-highest grossing films of all time have managed to not only be nominated for an Oscar, but to nab themselves at least one win. More than 30 years later, in 1965, The Sound of Music won 5 Oscars. The 70s brought prosperity for The Godfather (1972) with 3 awards, Jaws (1975) with 3, and Star Wars (1977) with 7 (6 competitive, 1 honorary). E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial banked 4 Oscars in 1985, followed by Jurassic Park with 3 in 1993, and Titanic with 11 in 1997. Avatar, the film that Avengers: Endgame managed to beat as the highest-grossing film, walked home with 3 Oscars in 2009. While Endgame may have defeated its predecessor at the box office, it failed to join the ranks of the previous highest-grossing films by losing the Oscar.
John Boyega Welcomes Sebastian Stan To The Dark Side After Angering Fans
Sebastian Stan has the Marvel fans upset.
Sebastian Stan, who plays Bucky Barnes in the Marvel films, recently reposted a tweet that seemingly criticizes the writing for Avengers: Endgame, according to Complex.
On Instagram, Stan posted a screenshot of a tweet reading, "Together until the end of the line. Or until bad, inconsistent, out-of-character writing turns Steve Rogers into his own anti-thesis. Shouldn't it be 'together until the end of the lie' now?" The complaint is regarding the ending of Avengers: Endgame, calling Rogers's action selfish and not in-line with his character.
Stan's reposting of the opinion, while it may not even be in agreement, has left fans angry with the actor.
John Boyega, who plays Finn in the new Star Wars trilogy, referred to Stan in a tweet saying, "Welcome Mr. Stan! Welcome," with a picture of the Emporer, a clear reference to the dark side. Boyega recently came under fire with fans as well.
Boyega replied to a fan about Rey, Kylo and Finn's dynamic in Star Wars: The Rise of the Jedi saying, "It’s not about who she kisses but who eventually lays the pipe," which angered some fans.
Don Cheadle Wants War Machine To Return To MCU After "Avengers: Endgame"
James “Rhodey” Rhodes must return.
Terrence Howard was the first actor to play War Machine in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but he was replaced with Don Cheadle in Iron Man 2. Since then, Cheadle has appeared in Avengers: Age of Ultron, Iron Man 3, Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War, and Avengers: Endgame. Although Endgame marked the end of several contracts and heroes, Cheadle wants to get back into the MCU.
According to Comicbook.com, at the TCA winter press tour Cheadle gave his opinion on what’s next in War Machine’s story. “If there were to be one, I’d really want to dig into him and maybe even find something that felt closer to the first Iron Man for who he was. I think they can go anywhere with him now.” War Machine would be a great candidate for a Disney+ series, although he doesn’t sound to sure if that’s an option for him at the moment. “I really don’t know… I haven’t given it much thought as far as which would be or if either would even be. That was an 11 year journey,” he stated in regards to a TV series. Disney+ currently has a lineup of Loki, WandaVision, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Moon Knight, She-Hulk, and Ms. Marvel.
