While George Floyd was killed in Minneapolis, Minnesota, his death has sparked widespread outrage throughout the United States of America, and protests are happening in almost every state. New York has been known for its fair share of police brutality over the years so it's not surprising that there were some heavy protests in Brooklyn and the surrounding areas yesterday.
At one point, numerous protesters around the Barclays Center were arrested and placed in a bus made specifically for public transportation. The bus driver was told to transport the arrested protesters to a nearby jail. Surprisingly, the bus driver was having none of that and walked off the bus in protest. As soon as protesters realized what was happening, they gave the driver a very deserved standing ovation.
Later last night, public transport companies noted on social media that they work for the people and not the police. Many on social media also worked hard to keep the identity of the bus driver private as they could be in danger if any personal information about the driver became public.
These protests are certainly bringing a lot of people together and it's incredible to see everyone so united for an important cause.

Tekashi 6ix9ine Barclays Shooting: Gunman Sentenced
A dispute between Tekashi69 and Casanova’s teams at the Barclays Center led to shots being fired and the gunman has officially been sentenced.
Tekashi 6ix9ine was sentenced late last year for his crimes as part of the Nine Trey Bloods gang but the shooting that occurred at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, stemming from a dispute between his team and Casanova’s, still went unresolved. That changed today after it was reported that the gunman who fired shots in the corridors of the arena had been sentenced in court.
Fuguan “Fubanger” Lovick, the man who rang off one shot as 6ix9ine and Casanova’s teams were arguing, has officially been sentenced for his role in the Barclays Center shooting. According to Complex, the 41-year-old was present in Judge Paul Engelmayer’s courtroom today where he was informed that he would be spending the next eighty-five months in prison. While reviewing the case, a minimum sentence of eighty-four months was issued after Lovick entered a guilty plea for discharging a firearm in relation to a crime of violence. It was suggested that an additional six months to a year be added to the man’s sentence but, in the end, the judge handed him simply one extra month.
