As more celebrities step forward with vocal support of the Black Lives Matter movement, some non-black allies are finding themselves entangled in controversy. Famed model and actress Emily Ratajkowski has been quite vocal about her support of BLM in recent days, and she wrote on Instagram that with everything going on, she felt "so useless." BET’s style director Danielle Prescod gave her a bit of advice and it had to do with Emily Ratajkowski's husband, Sebastian Bear-McClard.

“I actually have an idea. You could start by talking to your husband, a white man, who has used the n-word repeatedly in my presence. So much so that another black friend was so disgusted she left. Another black woman had the same exact experience," Prescod wrote. "You probably have never seen this behavior. I would like you to address the issues in your home and then you can help us out here. I would like you to ask him what he can do differently … I mean this with the utmost sincerity. It was hurtful and abusive."
Bear-McClard took to Twitter to acknowledge the allegations against him and to issue an apology to anyone he's offended. The Uncut Gems producer stated, "I used a word casually like it was mine to use. It’s not, it never was, and never will be. In the past few years I’ve learned a lot about my privilege as a man and as a white person and about the history of racism in this country. Owning our misteps is a crucial part of changing the way the world operates. I’m embarrassed and ashamed and I sincerely apologize to everyone who I may have hurt.”
Later, Prescod told Page Six that it wasn't her intention to publicly shame Emily Ratajkowski or her husband, but if non-black allies are going to address their followers on how to end racism or racist behavior, they should first focus on what's going on inside of their own homes.

Sauce Walka challenged Young Thug to a boxing match, but Thug has a better idea.
Quarantine boredom affects us all in different ways. For Sauce Walka, apparently it means attempting to put on a celebrity fight match??? The rapper shared a video clip yesterday on Instagram, announcing his intentions to fight any “real celebrity” who would agree to it, while showing off several stacks of cash. Among the celebrities he called out– Young Thug.
Thug and Sauce Walka have a history of beef together, mostly consisting of Sauce Walka taunting Thug in whatever ways he can. Last year, Sauce teased Thug for his boxing technique or lack thereof. Still, when Thug saw Sauce and 2 Chainz seemingly link up on good terms, he let his disapproval be known.
Now, the latest iteration of their beef comes in the form of these Instagram jabs. On the video where Sauce proclaimed, “I will beat up Logan Paul, Jake Paul, or any rapper that’s a real celebrity that wanna fight me,” Thug entered the comment section.
Despite Sauce trying to show off with the stacks of cash he has on hand, Thug actually one-ups the rapper with his comment. “U need to put that money into ya homies, build your label up..I’m sure it’s niggas around u without, put them niggas to work too..boss up lil brother… I don’t want no smoke with u. BTW I JUST SPENT THAT ON GROCERIES THIS MONTH,” he writes, confirming he doesn’t want any beef with the rapper and asking him to put all that cash to good use.
Thug simultaneously puts Sauce Walka in his place while being the bigger man AND flexing all in one comment– it’s quite the feat. Thug’s comment earned him 1,349 likes and 155 replies.
Take a look at Thug’s comment and Sauce Walka’s initial video post below.
Lala Milan Playfully Tells Nick Cannon He Can’t Rap: "Just Stop"
Lala Milan visited Nick Cannon on his morning show and talked about her booming career, but she let Nick know that she doesn’t think he’s a great emcee.
With over three million followers (and growing) on Instagram alone, Lala Milan is an “internet famous” success story. She began her career creating her own funny skits and clips online, and after building a worldwide following, she grabbed the attention of brands. Lala wanted to be taken more seriously as an actress and finally, she nabbed a role on BET’s Boomerang which is now in its second season.
Dave Kotinsky / Stringer / Getty ImagesThe multi-talented entertainer is open to trying new avenues in the industry in order to continue building her brand, but Nick Cannon advised her not to go the rapping route. Lala was a guest on Power 106‘s Nick Cannon Mornings where the Wild ‘n Out mogul told Lala to steer clear of the music game. He said he was giving her the advice from experience, and that’s when she let him know that he can’t rap.
“You still trying,” she said. Nick made it clear that he doesn’t put out albums anymore and he’s not rapping. “I got a whole lotta talents,” Nick said. “Rapping is just one of the things that I used to do… People like to joke, but I got really rich off of rap.” Lala wasn’t having it. “No, it’s not,” she said jokingly. “Nick, listen [that was] back then. Just stop. Collect the residuals and keep it pushin’. My God.” Watch Lala Milan on Nick Cannon Mornings below.
Kim Wayans "Looked To Her Brothers" To Define Who She Was
Kim Wayans has had a long career with many accomplishments and she reflected on her 20s with BET for their webseries.
“Wayans” is a powerful family tree in the entertainment industry. With decades of successful careers under their belts, many of the Wayans crew have established themselves as formidable forces in front of and behind the camera. Siblings Keenen, Damon, Marlon, Shawn, and Kim are just a handful of successful Wayans continuing their paths in the industry. The famous Wayans sister recently chatted with BET for their In My Twenties series and she reflected on what her career was like back in her In Living Color days alongside her family.
Rich Polk / Stringer / Getty Images“In my 20s, I was 16,” the former In the House star said. “I was a late bloomer. I was still very much a child when I was in my 20s. I was very much a teenager in so many different ways.” Kim stated that in today’s culture, entertainers have so many ways to get noticed or to create opportunities for themselves. However, back when she was making a way in the industry, it was a bit more difficult not to be boxed in by the movers and shakers.
“Certain things are asked of you to do as a black actress and it really wasn’t all that thrilling and all that exciting,” she said. “It’s nice to see now all these opportunities and all these different ways of seeing black people and black women, in particular, that’s really great.” Kim also dropped off a bit of wisdom for creatives navigating their careers.
“Trust your own voice,” said Kim. “When I was young like that, I didn’t really trust my voice. I looked to my brothers, I looked to other people to basically tell me who I was. Deep inside, I knew who I was and I knew what I wanted to do, but when you’re young like that, sometimes it’s hard to trust that.” Watch Kim Wayans’s In My Twenties below.
Jadakiss Recalls Pop Smoke Showing Love To Him, Calls Death "Senseless"
Jadakiss chatted with BET about the untimely death of rapper Pop Smoke, calling the murder both "senseless" and "horrible."
The shocking news of Pop Smoke's murder rocked hip hop on Wednesday (February 19). The rapper was killed during a home invasion robbery in the affluent Hollywood Hills community of Los Angeles, and artists have come forward to share their grief over the news of his death. Jadakiss stopped by BET's studio to share his thoughts about the 20-year-old New York artist who lost his life too soon and shared that being young and successful shouldn't make you a target for violence.
After offering condolences and prayers to Pop Smoke's family, Jadakiss revealed that he'd spoken to the young rapper in the past. "It's just senseless, we're losing too many young artists," The Lox rapper said. "I spoke to him a few times on the phone. I was gon' have him rock at my daughter's Sweet 16, but he was overseas. He was very... He showed wild love."
Jadakiss revealed that Pop Smoke was still willing to show up and make an appearance for free. "He got tied up, but then I bumped into him at Barclays, that show they had at the Barclays," Jadakiss recalled. "Same thing, nothin' but love backstage... I was just telling somebody today, we lost probably many young artists in the last year or two than I lost my whole career. That's not good. That's not good at all. We gotta just cut it out."
He then quoted a social media post from Irv Gotti that said hip hop is the only genre where you become a target as soon as you become successful. "That's damn sure true with this," said Jadakiss. "That don't happen with nothin' else. He was a young, successful black man. Just got over being a teenager. Twenty-years-old. He had a lot of living to do. He was able to be successful in this game to get himself out of doing some other dumb stuff. He didn't have to sell drugs. He didn't have to put his family in jeopardy for doing something else senseless. For him to lose his life like that? I just... Horrible."
Watch Jadakiss reflect on the loss of Pop Smoke below. We continue to send out heartfelt condolences to Bashar Barakah Jackson's loved ones through this sorrowful time.
View this post on InstagramLil Zane Reflects On Rejecting Diddy’s Deal & Why Rap Career Faded
Lil Zane gained international fame as a feature on 112’s hit track “Anywhere,” but the rapper wasn’t able to maintain his career’s longevity.
Do you remember Lil Zane? Twenty years ago, the rapper was a teenager who had just released his debut album Young World: The Future. His hit single “Callin Me” featuring 112 topped the charts, and his music industry future looked promising. He’d soon collaborate with the likes of Tank, Lil Scrappy, Jacob Latimore, Shawty Lo, and many others, but Zane mysteriously disappeared from the limelight.
Nick Elgar / Staff / Getty ImagesZane made waves when he appeared on 112’s “Anywhere” and received his first plaque for a hit song, but in his recent feature for BET’s Finding BET series, the rapper admitted to turning down a deal from Diddy. According to Zane, his manager was launching a label and because they had a close relationship, he decided to stick with the team he knew instead of inking a deal with Bad Boy Records. “I think that Diddy respected that,” Zane said, adding with a laugh, “Don’t make stupid decisions when you grow up, kids. Don’t make decisions with your heart, make them with your mind.”
The rapper also shared a story about collaborating with Bow Wow, Sammie, and Lil Wayne on the 2001 single “Hardball.” During the music video shoot, Zane and Bow Wow had a bit of a tiff when they both wanted to wear the same Atlanta jersey, but Zane explained that they were young with egos and now they’ve put the past behind them.
Ultimately, Zane accused his label of sabotaging his career. He said he would be at a record store for an album signing but there were no copies of his album at the location. He also reportedly worked on projects and songs but he claims the label wouldn’t release them. He ended up taking acting jobs just to earn money to live. Zane revealed that his biggest regret was not learning the business in the early days because he found out too late that he’d been taken advantage of at the beginning of his career. Tyler Perry Officially Announces "House Of Payne" Revival For BET
The show is currently filming at Tyler Perry Studios and will debut on BET this summer.
As one of the many scripts he wrote back in 2019, revealed on IG last month as a strong example of his work ethic, a revival of Tyler Perry’s House of Payne has been one of the famed producer’s most anticipated projects so far. Now, it looks like we’ll be seeing it come to fruition way sooner than expected.
Vince Bucci/Getty Images for NAACPIt’s no surprise that Tyler Perry would revisit his popular sitcom that aired on TBS from 2006 to 2012, especially given the consecutive NAACP Image Award wins the show received for “Outstanding Comedy Series” in 2008, 2009 (seen above), 2010, 2011 and 2012. According to Deadline, the revival will actually be more of a continuation by serving as a new season that picks up five years later from where we last saw the Payne family. All the original stars are set to reprise their roles, including LaVan Davis as “Curtis Payne,” Cassi Davis Patton as his wife “Ella Payne,” Lance Gross as “Calvin Payne,” Demetria McKinney as “Janine Shelton-Payne,” China Anne McClain as “Jazmine Payne,” Larramie “Doc” Shaw as “Malik Payne,” Keshia Knight Pulliam as “Miranda Lucas-Payne” and finally Allen Payne as “C.J. Payne.” Although re-runs of the original series have already been airing on BET, the network will be the official home for Perry’s reboot when it arrives this summer.
Lance Gross already showed his excitement for the series reboot a few days ago on IG (seen below), but let us know down in the comments if you’ll be looking forward to watching a revival of Tyler Perry’s House of Payne on BET.
Young Thug Bet Lots Of Money On The Superbowl & Won Big
Thug is a natural winner.
Young Thug is prone to reminding us how rich he is. On "Just How It Is", the opener of his latest album, he frames his fortune as inevitable:
"I came from rags to riches, I'm the shit
I can no longer disguise it, bitch, 'cause I'm rich
I got cars galore, lil' bitch, 'cause I'm rich
I escaped every one of the licks 'cause I was supposed to be rich"As if he doesn't highlight the disparity between his own wealth and that of the average person enough in his music, he does so on social media as well. He took to Instagram to detail the heft of his Superbowl LIV bet and the magnitude of his winnings. On his story, Thugger said that he bet $250,000 on Sunday night's game, which obviously must've been placed on the Kansas City Chiefs given his celebration. "I betted a quarter. I betted 250 racks. I won 620." he boasted to his phone's front camera. After showing his good friend Gunna sitting beside him, he flipped the camera to the Chief's celebration on the TV. "We don't lose," he proclaimed. "All we do is win."
It's good to see that Thug is back in good spirits and good health after landing up in the hospital last week for an unknown reason.
