DaBaby's new album Blame It On Baby may not have been a hit with the fans but one song from it has officially become the rapper's highest-charting single ever.
Until the new tally was announced this morning, DaBaby's biggest song ever was "Suge." Despite it being the track that broke Baby into superstardom, it only reached #7 as its peak on the Billboard Hot 100.
For the last few weeks, "ROCKSTAR" with Roddy Ricch has been rising the ranks and today, it officially peaked at #4, making it DaBaby's highest-charting single to date.
This week's Billboard Hot 100 is looking much different from last week's seeing both top contenders -- Justin Bieber and Ariana Grande's "Stuck With U" and Tekashi 6ix9ine's "GOOBA" -- being bounced out of the Top 10. Their plummets made way for DaBaby and Roddy Ricch to hit a new high, joining Ricch's other single "The Box" for the Compton rapper's second appearance in the Top 10.
Congratulations are in order for DaBaby. Already, the star has announced that he will not slow down on album releases, preparing his next drop before the end of the year.
What do you think of "ROCKSTAR?" Is it one of the best songs that DaBaby has released or can he do better?
DaBaby & Roddy Ricch’s "Rockstar" Goes Gold
DaBaby and Roddy Ricch have added another plaque to their respective collections thanks to “Rockstar.”
Despite some grumblings that haters can’t help but voicing, it seems as if DaBaby‘s rise is going quite nicely. Following the release of his brand new album Blame It On Baby a few weeks back, it would appear that one of the tracks has already emerged as a clear fan-favorite. “Rockstar” with Roddy Ricch continues to rack up streaming numbers, and as of right now it has become the first track on the album to earn a certified RIAA plaque.

Given that both rappers are among the most successful mainstream newcomers in hip-hop right now, it’s no wonder that together they’d make for a sales juggernaut. At this point, platinum feels like an inevitability, especially if they’re able to somehow connect for a proper video. Given that both parties are likely hunkered down for quarantine, it’s not exactly likely — either way, we’re about to find out how much staying power the Blame It On Baby duet has.
A gambler might be inclined to say, at the very least, a reasonable amount. DaBaby alone has already amassed eight additional plaques to his name, three platinum and five gold. True, only one of the three is for a solo release, but it remains a testament to DaBaby’s star power all the same. You be the judge, does “Rockstar” have what it takes to carry momentum into the summer months?
DaBaby’s "Nasty" Earned Ashanti An Impressive Hot 100 Achievement
Thanks to DaBaby’s Ashanti-featured song, “Nasty,” entering the Billboard Hot 100, the R&B singer officially has an entry in the chart from each of the last three decades.
DaBaby‘s song “Nasty,” was making waves before it was even released due to its sample of Ashanti‘s 2002 hit, “Baby,” and now, its earned the R&B singer an entry in the Billboard Hot 100 in each of the last three decades (2000s, 2010s, 2020s). Ashanti is certainly not a newcomer to the music scene, having launched her career nearly two decades ago and going on to become one of the most renowned female R&B artists of the early aughts. Although she was arguably in her prime in the early-to-mid 2000s, she continues to make music up to this day, and her latest Billboard feat proves that she’s got major staying power.

Ashanti shared the news herself on Instagram, taking a screenshot of a tweet from the Twitter account, @chartdata. “@ashanti has now earned a Hot 100 entry in each of the last three decades (2000s, 2010s, 2020s),” the tweet reads, which she shared with a series of emojis in an Instagram post on Tuesday.
Ashanti had plenty of hits on the Hot 100 in the 2000s, with her single, “Foolish,” off her self-titled debut album and her collaboration with Ja Rule titled, “Always On Time,” both peaking at No. 1 in 2002. “What’s Luv?” with Fat Joe made it to No. 2 that same year, as did another Ja Rule joint called, “Rock Wit U (Awww Baby).” A myriad of her other hits made the Hot 100 from 2002-2005, along with a few entries in 2008-2009. Her only entry in the 2010s was “Start This Sh*t Off Right” with Lil Wayne and Mack Maine, which peaked at No. 76in 2018. So far, “Nasty,” which also features frequent DaBaby collaborator, Megan Thee Stallion, is her only entry in the 2020s, but the decade is still young. Congrats to this talented artist on her impressive accomplishment!
DaBaby’s "Blame It On Baby" Tops Billboard 200
DaBaby earns his second number one album with “Blame It On Baby.”
DaBaby emerged as one of the most exciting artists in music but it appears that fans are starting to lose interest. Fresh off of the release of his latest project, Blame It On Baby, those who were rocking with the rapper became critical of his artistry with some even claiming that it’s beginning to sound monotonous. However, it doesn’t seem like those critiques are actually affecting his album sales or pockets too much.
Billboard reports that DaBaby’s earned his second number one album on the Billboard 200 with Blame It On Baby. Though he gave fans a short notice before its release, the album sold 124K equivalent album units. 110K of those sales come from the 158.84M on-demand streams following the album’s release while 12K comes from pure sales.
It is quite a feat for DaBaby who brushed off the criticism earlier today. Sharing a video to his IG page, the rapper’s seen slamming a garbage can and spitting on it.
“This what my trolls do to my music when they put in hard work doin all that hatin and my shit STILL top the charts,” he wrote in the caption. “Relax bro, I love y’all too…. no cap.”
Clearly, DaBaby knows what’s working for him, even when a few fans say otherwise. Perhaps he might really switch it up on his next project.
DaBaby Addresses Critics Of His New Album & His Flow
DaBaby speaks about expectations and how he deals with all the criticism regarding his flow and his new album "Blame It On Baby" on The Breakfast Club.
DaBaby absolutely blew up last year. With "Suge" and his highly-successful albums Baby On Baby and KIRK, the Charlotte rapper managed to turn himself into a superstar. The 28-year-old attempted to follow up on his success last week, releasing another full-length project titled Blame It On Baby. However, fan reception of the album was less than ideal. Despite all the hate he's been receiving online, Baby is unfazed. After all, he's still set to debut at the top position on the Billboard 200.
This morning, he called into The Breakfast Club with Charlamagne Tha God, DJ Envy, and Angela Yee to address the constant critics of his flow, arguing that he is fully aware of what he's doing.
Speaking about how quickly his rise occurred, DaBaby explained that he released his three albums back-to-back so that people would realize that he's not just a one-hit-wonder. He has heard the comments about his flow always sounding the same though and he addressed it all.

"As far as switching the flow, I have no problem running circles around any one of these n***as," he says. "I couldn't find myself entertaining that. I could joke about it just like I joke about everything else. [...] I'll make a conscious album right now, I'll record the whole shit today. On some J. Cole vibes. Joyner Lucas. I can get in there too. At the end of the day, I understand what's going on. You gotta milk the game. You gotta take advantage of it. If I switch it too quick, you ain't gon' like it. You gon' be like 'Damn Baby, I wanted you to turn me up.' When you got something going, you would be a fool to step on your own toes and go left with it."
As much as you all want DaBaby to switch up his flow, he's got a good point.

View this post on InstagramWestside Gunn Insists His Album Is Better Than DaBaby’s: "Change My Mind"
Westside Gunn shared a meme asserting that his album, "Pray for Paris," is better than DaBaby's "Blame It On Baby."
Westside Gunn is not being modest about how good his new album, Pray For Paris, is, even in comparison to other rappers' recently released work. This week saw some exciting album drops in hip hop world, but arguably two of the most anticipated (and most talked about after the fact) were Westside Gunn's Pray for Paris and DaBaby's Blame It On Baby. While Gunn drew a very positive response to PFP, some fans were unimpressed with DaBaby's offering. Despite garnering 25 million streams on Spotify in the first half hour of its release, Blame It On Baby proved underwhelming for some, who were hoping he'd switch things up a bit rather than deliver the same old, same old. It looks like Gunn agreed, as the Griselda man took to social media on Saturday to share a meme made at Baby's expense that positions PFP as "greater than" BIOB, and asked fans to "change my mind."
"Good Morning #PrayforParis," Gunn tweeted, along with some laughing emojis. He also shared the same meme on his Instagram story, clearly finding amusement in it. DaBaby has yet to respond to this ranking, although he probably shouldn't take it to heart too much. At least he knows who to blame.
DaBaby Pulled Insane "Blame It On Baby" Numbers In First Half Hour
DaBaby’s new album “Blame It On Baby” had fans chomping at the bit for an early listen, flooding Spotify by the millions.
In case you somehow missed it, DaBaby came through and delivered his brand new album Blame It On Baby, featuring guest appearances from Future, YoungBoy Never Broke Again, A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie, Roddy Ricch, and more. And while we did know the album was coming, Baby only gave us a few days of notice, making the initial announcement at the beginning of the week before landing with a bang last midnight.

And from the sound of it, the excitement surrounding the album’s release was palpable. Before long, an absolute throng of excited fans were flooding Spotify by the millions, all but guaranteeing the North Carolina rapper a stop atop next week’s Billboard charts. “Bitch had 25 million streams on @spotify first in the first 30 minutes,” boasts DaBaby, clearly riding the high of his big day. As to how those numbers translate to “album-equivalent units,” we’ll have to wait and see next week.
Of course, with such a massive buzz comes an increase in haters — unfortunately, that dubious category tends to be more vocal than the average fan. It didn’t take long for the boo-birds to flood social media with negative takes on Baby’s project, leaving us wondering whether they had already made up their mind long before hearing the album to begin with. Looking to our own comment section — what do you make of the album? Were you one of the 25, 823, 504 users enjoying that Spotify stream in the first half-hour?
DaBaby Trending On Twitter Because People Hate His New Album
DaBaby did not leave a good impression on social media with the release of "Blame It On Baby."
You know what they say... all publicity is good publicity, right?
DaBaby released his new album Blame It On Baby last night, featuring a list of big stars to help him out. The surprise project includes assists from Roddy Ricch, Youngboy Never Broke Again, Ashanti, Megan Thee Stallion, Future, and more. While the majority of fans are seemingly rocking with the new album -- it currently carries a user rating of 65% on our site -- social media has proven to be a hard crowd this time around.
When DaBaby had just released the album at midnight, he began trending on Twitter as fans of the Charlotte rapper reacted with excitement to the new collection of songs. However, as they got deeper into the project, reactions online got more and more unfavorable.
Arnold Turner/Getty ImagesThese days, it's almost impossible to achieve a musical product that pleases everybody. It would appear as though some of DaBaby's fans are getting tired of the same-old though, challenging the rapper to switch things up in a major way after releasing his third album in less than two years.
Memes and jokes are flying around with plenty of people unhappy about the new album. Still, some songs, like the collaboration with Ashanti and Megan Thee Stallion, are getting lots of love.
What did you think of Blame It On Baby? Are you happy about the new body of work or do you think it's time for DaBaby to take a little break?
A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie Previews Heat With DaBaby
From the sound of this latest “Blame It On Baby” snippet, A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie and DaBaby are about to “Drop” a hit.
In mere hours we’re set to receive the brand new batch of music from DaBaby, gift-wrapped and appropriately packaged as Blame It On Baby. And while we’ve already seen confirmation that A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie, NBA YoungBoy, Future, Roddy Ricch, Megan Thee Stallion, and Ashanti will be hopping on board, DaBaby and company have been gradually previewing a few of the project’s bangers prior to the full release.

Now, A Boogie has taken it upon himself to highlight his own guest appearance, hitting Instagram with a teaser of the upcoming “Drop.” “@dababy bout to drop that shit go listen to bro new heat,” he captions, alongside a few hockey-stick emojis…no doubt lamenting the ongoing stoppage of the NHL. DaBaby made sure to return the kindness, commenting back with a heartfelt “Preciate always my g.”
As for the song itself, “Drop” appears to be well-suited to A Boogie’s strength, which is to say the alternation between melody and rapping. “Look I ain’t drippin I already got more money than my opps, I’m just trying to get more money than that yeah,” sings A Boogie, before dropping his cadence and kicking up the pace of his flow. “Had to stack my bread up I was sick of feeling regular.”
Check it out for yourself below, and stay tuned for the full release of DaBaby’s brand new studio album Blame It On Baby, hitting streaming platforms at midnight.
DaBaby Tries Different Flow On Ashanti Collab "Nasty"
DaBaby and Ashanti are about to release a love song from “Blame It On Baby.”
Charlotte rapper DaBaby has been criticized because of his apparent inability to color outside of the lines, sticking to a similar flow on many of his songs. With Blame It On Baby, his new album releasing tonight, the budding superstar attempts to prove his versatility by unlocking several different vibes.
We’ve already heard his new single “Find My Way,” which is significantly different from anything we’ve heard from the rapper in the past. After revealing the list of features on his new album, DaBaby previewed his song “Nasty” with Ashanti and, once again, it’s unlike anything the artist has explored in the past.
DaBaby appears to have entered Ashanti’s world for the new song, which was previewed on the R&B star’s social media pages.
“Girl, you on the right track, yeah/I put it in her face, she say she like that, yeah,” raps the 28-year-old, going for a completely new tone than what we heard on Baby On Baby and KIRK. Ashanti then hops on for a classic hook that will surely live in our memories for months to come.
While we’re sure the inclusion of Megan Thee Stallion and NBA Youngboy means that DaBaby will be in his aggressive bag at times, he can slow things down when he wants to as well.
Are you excited to see a different side of DaBaby?
