Stephen A. Smith made waves this past weekend when he helped coach one of the All-Star celebrity teams as part of the NBA's annual festivities. Smith is one of the most entertaining men in all of sports media and his antics were on full display during the match. Smith even got hit with a technical foul for mouthing off at the referees. It was truly a spectacle to behold and everyone on social media was talking about it.
Ever since the end of the match, fans have been on Twitter begging for Stephen A. to coach the team next year. Some fans are even demanding that Smith take to the court and actually play in the celebrity match. Yesterday, Smith got fans excited as he claimed he would actually do it.
If Smith does play in the match, it will be interesting to see how he does. There have been times where the First Take host has shown us his jump shot which always seems to go in. Smith's presence on the court would truly be a sight to behold and we really hope it happens. If you thought he was overly competitive as a coach, just imagine him as a player.
Stephen A. Smith Reveals The Captain Of His Celebrity All-Star Team
Hint: He loves his wife.
Ever since Stephen A. Smith was named the coach of one of the Celebrity NBA All-Star teams, he has been searching for the captain of his team. Smith desperately wants to beat Michael Wilbon's team and he is looking to recruit the best celebrity players in order to do so. Today, Smith emphatically announced that he had found someone to captain his team and so far, he seems to have made a great choice.
None other than Chance the Rapper will represent team Stephen A. at the Celebrity All-Star game. Chance has been known to play basketball every now and then so it only makes sense that he would want to take part in this game. Not to mention, Chance's image makes him appear like a leader which means he will certainly make a great captain.
It will be interesting to see who else is added to Smith's team as we get closer to All-Star weekend. We know Stephen A. can be incredibly competitive so he'll certainly want to get a hold of the best players available. If he ends up losing to Wilbon, we can only imagine what kind of rant is going to ensue.
Perhaps we may even see him step into the game. After all, who wouldn't want to see Stephen A. get buckets?
Stephen A. Smith Named Coach For The Celebrity All Star Game
Stephen A. Smith ready to patrol the sidelines like Pat Riley.
The celebrities taking part in the annual NBA All Star Celebrity Game have not yet been announced but we do know who will be coaching the squads. On Friday, ESPN's Stephen A. Smith posted a video revealing that he'll be coaching one of the teams against a roster led by fellow ESPN host, Michael Wilbon.
Says Smith, "I promise, I probably will get a technical foul. Maybe two. I might get thrown out, I don't know. I mean, after all, my man [Michael] Wilbon's coaching against me - you know how Wilbon tries to mess with me sometimes."
Stephen A. will no doubt add to the entertainment value of the Celebrity All Star Game, I only wish he were taking part as a player/coach so that he could show off that smooth jumper of his. The game itself will take place on Friday, February 14 at Wintrust Arena in Chicago, Illinois. Like previous years, the roster of celebrities from film, TV, and music will be joined by several NBA and WNBA legends.
Last year's game featured a home team made up of people who were born, raised, and/or played in North Carolina and/or South Carolina. Famous Los took home the MVP honors after scoring 22 points.
