For a while now, Kim Kardashian West has been leveraging her voice to advocate for the wrongfully-accused. She went as far as pursuing a law degree in order to gain a better understanding of the system she is working within and the power she has to change it. She is now calling attention to the case of Julius Jones, a death row inmate in Oklahoma.
On Saturday (Mar. 7), Kardashian tweeted a video produced by The Black Wall Street Times based in Tulsa. "It features men in the community reading portions of Julius's clemency petition that is pending before the Oklahoma Board of Pardons and Parole." The petition, which was filed back in October, pleaded for his death sentence to be converted to prison time. The courts have not reached a final consensus on whether to grant Jones clemency or not, but he has been kept alive largely due to the community movement that has rallied behind him.
Jones and his supporters are arguing that his 2002 conviction was a result of a racist juror. Jones was convicted of the 1999 murder of 45-year-old Paul Howell, who was fatally shot in the driveway of his parents’ home in Edmond, Oklahoma. At the time, In 1998, Jones was a freshman honour student on scholarship at the University of Oklahoma. After finding out in 2017 that a juror used a racial slur to refer to Jones during his trial, Jones filed an appeal with the U.S. Supreme Court highlighting the racial bias in his sentencing. This appeal was rejected last April. Now that Jones has exhausted all his resources, his fate relies on all the voices fighting on his behalf.
10-Year-Old Playing "Fortnite" With Toy Gun Arrested On Felony Charge
A nerf gun gets you a felony these days.
Some things, you just can’t make up. One angry mother, Stefanie Carpenter, took to social media to share her story after her son was charged with a felony for using a toy gun. Carpenter says that she waited 217 days to have the Class 5 felony charge of menacing expunged from Gavin’s record before coming forward with her story.
As reported by Fox News 21, On July 24, Gavin and his friend were playing outside his grandparent’s house before a planned sleepover that night. The two kids began to play with orange-tipped nerf guns, aiming at cars and pretending to play Fortnite. One driver became so irate that he turned around and returned to scold the kids. The interaction was captured on the grandparent’s Ring system.
The enraged driver called the police on Gavin and his friend which led to Gavin being cuffed and placed into the back of a cop car before his parents arrived. “They came back over, told me my rights, and told me what was going to happen. They put handcuffs on me, and I got into the car,” 10-year-old Gavin Carpenter said.
The El Paso County Sheriff refused to drop the felony menacing charge, “It was just a hard no, that the District Attorney wasn’t going to throw this out,” Gavin’s father Chris stated. “That is when we moved into the diversion program.” The diversion program is much like probation, which meant Gavin had to complete community service, write an essay, and complete various tasks before the expunge occurred.
Texas Woman Receives Life In Prison For Beheading Daughter
A woman received a life sentence for stabbing and beheading her five-year-old daughter.
A woman in Texas was convicted of capital murder and sentenced to life in prison after being accused of stabbing and beheading her five-year-old daughter, back in 2017. 27-year-old, Krystle Villanueva, was officially sentenced by a Hays County judge and jury this past Thursday (March 5) in connection to the death of her daughter, Giovanna Hernandez. The adolescent girl was reportedly murdered by her mother at their home in Kyle, located approximately 20 miles southwest of Austin.

In 2017, Villanueva was arrested after police were called to the home she shared with her daughter Giovanna, Giovanna’s father, and his parents. The prosecutors claim that the young mother told 911 operators that she killed and mutilated her daughter’s body after she “asked for cereal.” According to AP News, Villanueva was also found guilty of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in the stabbing of the five-year-old’s grandfather.
Krystle Villanueva’s defense attorney attempted to claim that she was clinically insane which should have garnered her a not guilty verdict. Her lawyer, Carlos Garcia, released a statement to The Associated Press on Friday (March 6) declaring his client suffered from psychosis for a multitude of years. In court, Garcia stated that on the day of the attack and beheading, Villanueva believed that her family had been taken over by clones.
Prior to Villanueva’s official verdict, the Austin American-Statesmen revealed that the authorities had previously only told the media and general public that the child’s body had been ‘mutilated.’ But now, with Villanueva officially locked up behind bars for life without parole, they revealed her horrendous crime to the masses as one of the most brutal and unnecessary murders of this current generation.

Nicki Minaj’s Sex Offender Husband’s Charges Dropped By D.A.
Nicki Minaj’s husband Kenneth Petty’s sex offender registration charges were dropped by the L.A. D.A.’s office, but only due to the federal case against him.
The charges against Nicki Minaj‘s husband Kenneth Petty for failing to register as a sex offender in California have been dropped by the Los Angeles District Attorney’s office, but only because there is now a federal case against him for similar charges. According to The Blast, a hearing was held in L.A. court on Friday, where prosecutors told the judge that they were dropping the local charges against him.

Kenneth was charged in Beverly Hills back in November after he was pulled over by police and they discovered that he had never registered as a sex offender upon moving to California. Since it is against the law to move states or change addresses without reporting the move to the sex offender registry within an allotted amount of time, he was arrested by the Los Angeles District Attorney and ultimately released on a $20,000 bond.

While these charges have now been dropped, it’s only because there’s a more pressing case against him. Kenneth was indicted by the Federal Government this week, after still failing to register in California. He turned himself in and was arrested on a $100,000 bond. Now that there’s a federal case against Kenneth, the D.A.’s office decided to drop the charges against him. “The case was dismissed today because he is facing a similar charge in federal court,” a rep for the D.A’s office explained. Kenneth is facing up to 10 years behind bars if convicted on a federal level, but, according to The Blast, his lawyers may be under the belief that he could knock some time off if he manages to convince the judge in federal court that he didn’t explicitly intend to avoid registering after moving to Los Angeles. Upon his recent arrest, he was forced to hand over his passport and will be required to wear an ankle monitor upon his release.
Kenneth is required to register as a sex offender in the first place due to his conviction in 1995 for first-degree attempted rape. He served almost four years in New York federal prison for the crime. Nicki has been ridiculed for her association with him ever since she went public with their relationship, and she’s been on the receiving end of even more criticism since the news broke of his indictment.
R. Kelly Allegedly Forced Azriel Clary To Eat Her Own Feces
R. Kelly allegedly forced Azriel Clary to defecate in a cup and eat it afterwards, and he filmed the entire thing.
Nothing can surprise us anymore in the outrageous case surrounding R. Kelly. Earlier today, it was revealed that his Chicago trial would be postponed until October 2020 after over one-hundred electronic devices were seized from a secret storage unit. According to The Blast, things were even worse than previously detailed.
In a yet-to-be-released documentary about R. Kelly, Azriel Clary can be seen and heard speaking about the things she was forced to do while living with the singer.

In addition to the nasty confession, a prison phone call between Azriel Clary and R. Kelly is featured in the trailer, where we hear the singer sobbing and telling his ex-girlfriend that he loves her.
Clary has been telling her story in sections since December when she left R. Kelly’s Chicago apartment. Watch the teaser clip below.
Meek Mill Calls Execution Of Nathaniel Woods A "Lynching"
Meek Mill compared the execution of Nathaniel Woods, who was sentenced to death for the murder of three police officers in 2004, to a "lynching."
Meek Mill spoke out about the injustices faced by black men in America after a death row inmate, Nathaniel Woods, was executed in Alabama despite widespread questioning of his culpability in the murder of three police officers in 2004. Woods, alongside fellow death row inmate, Kerry Spencer, was convicted of capital murder in 2005 and was sentenced to death for shooting and killing the three Birmingham officers and wounding another. Woods was pronounced dead on Thursday night after receiving a lethal injection, despite activists protesting his death sentence and Spencer even claiming full responsibility for fatally shooting the officers and maintaining Woods innocence. The Supreme Court had put a temporary halt on the execution but lifted it within hours. Woods' attorneys petitioned Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey to stay his execution, but Ivey refused.

Meek took to Twitter to express his outrage, declaring that Woods had been "lynched" and urging white Americans to step up against racism in the justice system.
"A black man that didn’t kill nor plan to kill got lynched in 2020 in Alabama!" Meek tweeted. "As a black man how can you believe in the American justice system ..that shit gotta change and if you are white and not a racist STEP UP because you guys have majority control over the system today!!!" He followed this tweet up with a statement about the history of lynching, and further urged white people to take a stand.
"Lynching should be banned off the simple fact they used to do that to slaves!" he declared. "Facts!" he continued, "We live in WHITE America and it aint gon change til the whites help us minorities out." As a prison reform advocate, Meek has been very vocal about the pervasive issues within the justice system. He founded the REFORM Alliance, a collective committed to "dramatically reducing the number of people who are needlessly trapped in the system," after he was unjustly imprisoned for minor probation violations. Meek continues to be outspoken about the widespread injustices within the system.
R. Kelly Trial Postponed
R. Kelly’s Chicago trial has been pushed back several months after upwards of one hundred electronic devices were seized from a storage unit.
The public will need to wait a little longer to find out the fate of R. Kelly as it was revealed this week that the disgraced singer’s Chicago trial has officially been rescheduled to October 2020.
The singer, who is being accused of sexually abusing dozens of underage girls, is facing the potential of some new charges after over one-hundred electronic devices — including cell phones, iPads, and hard drives — were found in a storage unit belonging to R. Kelly. As per Rolling Stone, Kelly entered a plea of “not guilty” to thirteen revised charges against him in court yesterday (March 5), in addition to a string of new allegations by a victim referred to as “Minor 6.” It was also revealed that Kelly’s trial would be postponed from April 27 to October 13, giving prosecutors more time to investigate the electronic devices that were found in Kelly’s storage unit.

Despite these devices being hidden away for a reason, Kelly’s lawyer Steve Greenberg is not worried about what’s to come.
“We expect that they’re not going to find anything incriminating,” told Greenberg to reporters.
While the federal trial in Chicago will be starting at a later date, R. Kelly is still facing trial in Brooklyn, which begins on July 7. We will continue to keep you posted on all potential developments in this case.
Jets Quinnen Williams Arrested For Bringing Glock To Airport
New York Jets d-lineman Quinnen Williams reportedly arrested at NY's LaGuardia Airport for criminal possession of a weapon.
New York Jets defensive lineman Quinnen Williams was reportedly arrested at New York's LaGuardia Airport at around 9:15pm on Thursday night after it was discovered that he was carrying a Glock 19 handgun. According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the gun had an Alabama permit, which is where Williams grew up, but New York has much stricter laws that requires carriers to have pistol licenses in the state to carry concealed weapons.
As a result, Williams was arrested for criminal possession of a weapon and issued a March 25 court date, which is when he will be formally charged.

Under New York City law, unlawful possession of a loaded handgun calls for a minimum sentence of 3 1/2 years in prison, and Williams could still face felony charges even if the gun wasn't loaded. Whether or not the gun was loaded has not yet been revealed. In addition to whatever legal issues he faces, Williams may also have to deal with punishment from the league under the NFL's personal conduct policy.
The Jets selected the 22-year old Alabama product with the third overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. He recorded just 28 tackles with 2.5 sacks in his 13 games on the field, which was well under the team's expectations, but he certainly isn't being viewed as a 'bust' just yet.
Nathaniel Woods Executed In Alabama Despite Protests
Nathaniel Woods has been executed in Alabama for the murder of three police officers in 2004, despite pleas of his innocence from activists and his co-defendant.
Nathaniel Woods has been executed in Alabama for the murder of three Birmingham police officers in 2004, despite his co-defendant, Kerry Spencer, pleading Nathaniel’s innocence and activists protesting his execution on social media. According to the states corrections department, Woods was pronounced dead at 9:10pm local time on Thursday, and did not give a final statement. Back in the summer of 2004, police stormed the apartment complex where Woods and Spencer were suspected of dealing drugs. Three officers were shot and killed and another was wounded, and both Woods and Spencer were convicted of capital murder the following year and were both sentenced to death.
However, Spencer has insisted that Woods did not partake in the shooting and subsequent deaths of any of the officers. “Nathaniel Woods is 100% innocent,” Spencer penned in a letter from death row shared by his lawyers. “I know this to be a fact because I’m the person that shot and killed all three of the officers. I pray that my words don’t fall on blind eyes or deaf ears. Don’t allow another innocent man to be executed if you can do something to put a stop to it. This is my most fervent prayer.” Activists have rallied behind Woods and protested his unjust sentence for years, but in the weeks prior to his scheduled execution on Thursday evening, the support for Woods grew immensely on social media. Woods’ lawyers, backed by many concerned civilians, petitioned Alabama Gov. Kay to stay the execution and commute sentence. However, despite a temporary halt ordered by the Supreme Court mere minutes before his execution was slated, the request was ultimately denied. He was executed by lethal injection on Thursday at 42 years old.
Pleasure P Arrested In Miami Gardens On A Battery Charge At Checkers
Singer Pleasure P was arrested in Miami Gardens on a battery charge stemming from an assault on a fast food worker at popular burger joint Checkers.
Things aren’t looking so pretty for Pleasure P today after he was arrested on a battery charge in his home state of Florida. The offense? He decided to assault a fast food worker after becoming inpatient at a Checkers drive-thru.
Allen Berezovsky/WireImage
NBC Miami reports that P was taken into custody after getting checked at Checkers for starting the whole ordeal in an alleged drunken rage. The official report states that Pleasure P, real name Marcus Cooper, started his tirade at the intercom by yelling for several minutes, then proceeded to drive up to the window to yell some more before finally shoving both money and food into the victim’s chest. When policed arrived, they smelled alcohol on Copper after hearing his side of the story and proceeded to arrest him after hearing the testimonies from other Checkers employees who witnessed the attack. Although he was booked and placed in a Miami-Dade jail for an unspecified amount of time, P was later released but still faces the battery charge overall.
We hope Pleasure P can get this all situated very soon so it doesn’t affect the upcoming Pretty Ricky reunion album. Listen to their first single off the project called “Body” below:
