The Rock Passionately Shares “Black Adam” Origin Story

Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson took to Instagram to discuss how excited he is to be playing "Black Adam" ten years after learning about the DC Universe project.

Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson is set to play Black Adam in the upcoming DC Universe origin story. While at home, The Rock has been setting aside time to communicate with his fans and followers around the world. Earlier this week, he hosted a Q&A on IGTV and fans swarmed him with questions. Apparent by his most recent IGTV video, a lot of his fans are curious about his upcoming role as Black Adam.

"As many of you know Black Adam is a supervillain from the world of the DC Universe. [This project] ...has been with me for over 10 years now," The Rock shared. He confirms that the film has been in the works since 2008, but is quick to admit that he's in a much different place now than 10 years ago. "I just wanted to wait for the timing to feel right", he shared. "Now I'm able to bring my own life lessons and philosophies and engrain them in the character," he continued. "There are a lot of deep layers to Black Adam... He started off as a slave, there are a lot of dark elements [to his character]."

While describing the differences between Superman and Black Adam, The Rock states that "Black Adam is a supervillain, who then became an anti-hero." He also states that their first version of the film will be the origin story which will share with us how Black Adam came to be.

"Birds Of Prey" Described As A Batsh*t Crazy "John Wick" Funhouse Ride By Fans

Fans are receiving the new Harley Quinn, "Birds of Prey" film pretty well.

Following the lackluster reception of Suicide Squad (2016) upon its release, Warner Bros. needed a film to help reenergize the movie franchise which is set to release its second installment in 2021. The DC Universe team went to work curating a Suicide Squad spin-off centered around the Joker's accomplice and lover, Harley Quinn, entitled, Birds of Prey (And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) which is set to hit theaters around the globe next week. Now, with press screenings and Warner Bros. in full promo mode for their latest creation, viewers of the early screenings are claiming that Birds of Prey is some of the best work to come out of the DC Universe in recent history. 

According to one member early viewer, the film is comparable to that of the lastest John Wick film, delivering on promises of pure chaos, anarchy, girl gangs, and intense fighting scenes. From the scores of film critics that were able to see the film early, their reviews were surprisingly upbeat urging movie fans to see the film for themselves. Birds of Prey featuring the reformed Dr. Harleen Quinzel highlights the aftermath of her supposed 'mutual' breakup with the Joker. The film then surrounds its plot around Harley Quinn (played by Margot Robbie) and her girl-gang as they terrorize Gotham City in all ways imaginable. The cast also includes stars Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Huntress, Jurnee Smollett-Bell as Canary, Rosie Perez as Renee Montoya, and Ewan McGregor as Black Mask. 

With The Batman starring Robert Pattison officially in production, and James Gunn at the helm of directorial duties for the new Suicide Squad 2 film, DC and Warner Bros. have the opportunity to kick off the decade in the right direction for the studio house. Robert Pattinson’s "The Batman" Officially Began Shooting In London

Robert Pattinson is officially "The Batman"

It's official, Ben Affleck's reign as The Bat has officially come to an end as production for The Batman (2021) starring Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne began Monday (Jan. 27). This shouldn't come as a surprise for comic book-themed music fans as Warner Bros. and company had revealed that the former Twilight star would be donning the infamous black suit early last year. However, suiting up as one of the world's most coveted superheroes comes an extreme amount of criticism. 

On Monday afternoon, the film's director, Matt Reeves, took to Twitter to reveal the film's first clapboard revealing  production officially underway on scene number seventeen. The Tweet captioned, "#DayOne cc:@GreigfraserD," featured a mention of the film's producer, Greig Fraser, and caused quite a stir on Twitter as various heavy-hitters within the film industry commented on the photo wishing Reeves and his team luck. 

While plot details for The Batman have been few and far between, it has been verified that the timelines from previous Batman films will not be acknowledged in the upcoming franchise reboot.

While the storyline remains a mystery at the moment, the cast starring Colin Farrell as The Penguin, Zoë Kravitz as Catwoman, Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, Paul Dano as The Riddler, John Turturro as Carmine Falcone, does provide fans with insight on how impactful this film can be for the DC Universe. 

Warner Bros has proposed a June 25, 2021 premiere date for The Batman. 

With the production company also preparing for the release of the Harley Quinn spin-off, Birds of Prey, next month, the studio house is attempting to establish themselves as a ble competitor as Marvel this decade. However, with Robert Pattinson's extensive body of work as evidence of his ability, do you believe the 33-year-old actor has the range to embody the persona of Batman?
