Pop Smoke’s Family To Hold Private Memorial Gathering: Report
Pop Smoke’s family will reportedly be holding a private gathering to remember the late rapper after he was tragically killed in a shooting last week.
Pop Smoke will be remembered by his family in a private gathering in Brooklyn on Sunday following his untimely death at the hands of gun violence, according to reports. Ever since the young rapper was tragically killed during what was initially thought to be a home invasion robbery in West Hollywood last week, many have continued to pay tribute to him on social media. Pop was only 20-year-old, and the tragic news struck a chord with so many people. TMZ reports that Pop’s family will be bringing his body back to his native city of Brooklyn, and that a private gathering will be held there to give close friends and family a chance to say goodbye.

According to the tabloid news website, a source close to the family has revealed that Pop’s loved ones “are taking care of some final formal business, but will be transporting his body back to New York soon. His family has reportedly been dealing with his label and lawyers in L.A. in order to suss out some concerns related to his music. The “prayer and grief service” will reportedly take place in a church in Brooklyn, but will not be his final memorial service or burial, which will be held at a future time.
Pop’s family has been heavily involved in the murder investigation process, as it is now believed that Pop was targeted in the potentially gang-affiliated shooting rather than just caught in the crosshairs of an armed robbery. No suspects have been arrested as of yet.

Pop Smoke’s murder took place in the early hours of the morning on Wednesday as a result of what was initially believed to be a home invasion robbery. It has since been reported that surveillance footage from the Hollywood Hills home had led authorities to believe that the shooting was in fact a targeted hit, rather than part of an intended robbery. While the police investigate Pop Smoke’s murder, which may have had ties to gang relations, the rest of the world continues to mourn the loss of a young talent gone too soon. RIP Pop Smoke.

Steve Irwin’s Family Remembers Him On His Birthday
Steve Irwin's wife, son, daughter, and son-in-law each penned emotional tributes to the late wildlife expert on what would have been his 58th birthday.
Terri, Bindi, and Robert Irwin, along with Bindi's fiancé, Chandler Powell, all took to social media to share some heartfelt birthday messages for Steve Irwin. The famed "Crocodile Hunter" would have been turning 58 years old on Saturday, February 22nd, had it not been for his tragic death on September 4th, 2006. To honour his memory on this bittersweet day, Steve's family members each wrote some beautiful words about the wildlife expert on social media. Steve's daughter, Bindi, shared an adorable shot of herself and her dad laughing as he holds a porcupine, accompanied by a caption of all the things she did today in his honour.
"Dad, Today is your birthday. I had an extra strong cup of tea just how you liked it," Bindi wrote. "I hugged Mum for you and told her how much we love her. Robert and I went on a hike through the mountains you cherished. I watched one of your documentaries with Chandler and shared stories about you. I walked through your office in the zoo and smiled at our old family photographs. Today and every day I miss you and love you beyond description. You’re always with me." Steve's wife, Terri, took to Twitter to remember her husband.
“Today would’ve been Steve’s 58th birthday,” Terri wrote on the post featuring photos of Steve with each member of their family, as well as a solo shot of The Crocodile Hunter. “While my heart aches missing him every day, I’m determined to celebrate what he loved the most. He was happiest spending time @AustraliaZoo w/ @BindiIrwin & @RobertIrwin. He was my best friend, best dad, & built the best Zoo. I love you.” Steve's son, Robert, kept it simple, sharing a black-and-white shot of the family laying on some rocks with the caption, "Family Always."
Bindi's fiancé, Chandler Powell, who proposed to her on her 21st birthday last summer, also paid tribute to his late father-in-law.
"Thank you for inspiring me and the whole world to love all wildlife," Chandler wrote. "You would be so proud of Bindi, Terri and Robert carrying on the amazing work you started. We will all make sure your message lives on for generations." Steve was working on the documentary series Ocean’s Deadliest when he was attacked by a stingray off the coast of northern Australia and died at 44 years old. The Irwin family has made sure to carry on his legacy by continuing to run the Australia Zoo together, and even rescued and treated tens of thousands of animals affected by the wildlife fires that plagued the country for months.
Pop Smoke Allegedly Concerned About Gangs Prior To Death: Report
Pop Smoke reportedly canceled his show last Sunday because the NYPD shut it down, but TMZ states otherwise.
As the investigation into Pop Smoke’s death continues, there have been many theories of why he was murdered in the Hollywood Hills. The 20-year-old rapper’s recent mixtape Meet The Woo 2 just debuted at No. 7 on the Billboard 200 chart the day before his death. With so much to look forward to in his career, gossip about the circumstances surrounding Pop Smoke’s death have flooded social media.
TMZ recently reported that Pop Smoke’s East Coast family have made their way to Los Angeles to immerse themselves into the investigation. The publication returned on Saturday (February 22) morning to share more speculation into the rapper’s slaying by reporting that Pop Smoke was concerned for his safety days before he was murdered on Wednesday (February 19).
According to TMZ, last Sunday (February 16), Pop Smoke was set to perform at the Kings Theatre in his hometown of Brooklyn. However, the rapper reportedly shared on his Instagram Story that the show had been canceled because he claimed the “NYPD wouldn’t let me perform.” TMZ states that they’ve spoken with the New York Police Department and it wasn’t their call to shut down the show—Pop Smoke allegedly made the decision to back away “out of concern there were gang members in the audience.”
The outlet continued, “The rapper was out on bail in a federal car theft case and was ordered to stay away from gang members, so cops say canceling the show was really self-preservation… There’s been a buzz in L.A. among Pop’s circle that gang members might be behind his murder. The fact that Pop himself had concerns about gang members was something that has not escaped the attention of police.”

Pop Smoke’s Rival 22Gz Comments On His Death
Brooklyn rapper 22Gz never got along with Pop Smoke but, despite their beef, he sent his condolences to the late rapper's family.
Earning his keep in the Brooklyn rap scene, 22Gz is well-known for being close to Kodak Black. The drill rapper has also found himself in numerous feuds over the last couple of years, including a heated one with Pop Smoke. As you surely know by now, Pop Smoke was shot and killed in what appears to have been a targetted hit in the Hollywood Hills this week. Just a few days have passed since his murder but, already, so many people have spoken out about what Smoke meant to the New York drill community. Despite their differences, 22Gz ended up actually putting their beef to the side to send his condolences to the friends and family of the deceased rapper, taking to Twitter to do so.

"All beef aside, I feel sorry for boy," wrote 22Gz. "This type of stuff is the reason I move with who I move with and move the way we move. Becoming another casualty isn’t that plan for any of us. Sleep in peace to homie. May his family find peace in all of this madness. Idk about y’all. But I’m about growth and development. Not dissing black men who die from senseless violence. So please keep the negative comments to yourself please!"
Good on him for being the bigger man. While they may not have liked each other, 22Gz knows that the death of Pop Smoke is emblematic of an issue that is worsening every day.
Pop Smoke’s Family Members Immerse Themselves In Murder Investigation: Report
Pop Smoke’s death was a shock to the world, and “TMZ” reports that the rapper’s East Coast loved ones have made their way to L.A.
Social media may be calling for a boycott of TMZ over more claims that they’ve been reporting on deaths prior to loved ones being notified, but that hasn’t stopped the outlet from delivering their news. TMZ is known for sharing breaking news of celebrity deaths before any other outlet, and recently, they caught backlash after investigators publicly stated that TMZ shared news of Kobe Bryant’s death prior to investigators notifying family members. The outlet was also the first to share details about Pop Smoke’s murder, and his good friends have criticized the site, saying they had to read about the rapper’s death on social media.
Even so, TMZ returns with another update about the investigation into the home invasion that took the life of the Brooklyn rapper. According to the publication, their “family sources” have shared that Pop Smoke’s East Coast loved ones are making their way to Los Angeles to fully immerse themselves into the investigation.
“Our family sources say they had no clue that Pop Smoke had any enemies in L.A.,” TMZ wrote on Friday (February 21). “They also don’t believe someone would have followed him from New York to L.A. Since he spent so much time on the East Coast, if someone there wanted to harm him, they would have done it there.”
TMZ also reports that family members have taken it upon themselves to personally question witnesses and friends of Pop Smoke’s who were allegedly at the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Teddi Mellencamp’s Hollywood Hills rental property just prior to the fatal shooting. We previously shared that there is reportedly surveillance footage that seems to support the theory that Pop Smoke was targeted in the shooting and that the incident may not have been a robbery at all.
