NBA fans were fairly upset last week after it was revealed that New York Knicks legend Patrick Ewing had been hospitalized due to the Coronavirus. Ewing sent out a message on social media urging people to be safe and noting that this virus is no joke and must be taken seriously, at all costs. After a few days in the hospital, Ewing and his fans received some incredible news.
On Twitter today, Patrick Ewing Jr. sent out a message noting that his dad had been released from the hospital and that he is now getting some much-needed rest at home. Ewing is a basketball legend and many were anxious for his condition to improve. Thankfully for everyone involved, he is feeling much better.
The Coronavirus has proven to be a lot worse than many imagined as over 1.5 million people in the United States have been infected. Not to mention, hundreds of thousands of people have died and cities around the world continue to be under lockdown. These are truly unprecedented times and it's important for everyone to stay calm and stay safe.
While this may be an extremely difficult time, there are certainly better days ahead and we can't wait for them to arrive.
Scarface On Dialysis After Coronavirus Causes Kidney Failure
Scarface updated fellow Geto Boy, Willie D, about his condition after being diagnosed with coronavirus, revealing that he is on dialysis after suffering kidney failure.
Scarface revealed during an interview with his fellow Geto Boy member, Willie D, that he’s currently on dialysis due to kidney failure after suffering from health complications as a result of coronavirus. Ever since he announced to the world that he’d tested positive for the respiratory virus about a month ago, Scarface has been keeping fairly quiet about his health status. The Houston MC has hopped onto a few close friends’ live streams to give brief updates on his medical condition, but on Wednesday (April 22nd), he went into great detail about how coronavirus has severely affected his health.

Hooked up to a blood stint to help regulate his kidneys, Scarface told Willie that the same day that he told the public that he’d contracted coronavirus, he was also battling various other health problems, as well. “I fought the COVID, double bilateral pneumonia and kidney failure, all in my house,” he revealed. “This my new lifeline,” he continued, referring to dialysis. “I gotta change my entire diet. I gotta do dialysis four times a week, three hours a day. That’s taking all of my blood out, cleaning it, and putting it back in my body. Before the COVID, I never had kidney problems before.”

Along with Scarface, COVID-19 has impacted several players in the hip hop scene. This week, we lost New York rapper Fred The Godson to coronavirus, less than a month after he’d been diagnosed.Slim Thug was also among the rappers that tested positive for coronavirus, but on Wednesday, he updated his fans that his most recent test results had come back negative. Here’s hoping that Scarface’s medical condition improves soon. Watch his full conversation with Willie D below:
Slim Thug Makes Hand Sanitizer Donation Following Coronavirus Diagnosis
Slim Thug made a generous donation of 1,000 hand sanitizer bottles to Houston police officers and bus drivers after testing positive for coronavirus himself.
Slim Thug and his relief team, Smoke Shield, are making sure that the essential workers and residents of Houston are protected from coronavirus, by donating tons of hand sanitizer to the METRO police department and METRO bus drivers. Slim donated 1,000 bottles of the much-needed product, which has been in high-demand ever since shortages of necessary protective supplies have been plaguing the country amid the coronavirus pandemic.

“I want our police officers and bus drivers to know that we appreciate their service during this tough time,” Slim said. “They have always been a huge part of keeping Houston going.” Slim is currently in recovery after testing positive for the respiratory virus a few weeks ago. He broke the news in an Instagram video on March 24th, stressing that regardless of how careful he’d been, he still managed to contract the virus.
“I got tested for Coronavirus yesterday and it came back positive,” he explained. “As careful as I’ve been, self-quarantine and staying home, I might’ve went to get something to eat or something or did some stuff like that. Simple stuff like that. Nothing crazy. Stayed in my truck, had masks, gloves, everything on and my test came back positive. Y’all gotta take this stuff serious.” However, he gave fans an update on his condition a few days later, ensuring everyone that he was alright and telling them to be careful and not to worry about him. Since then, he’s given further updates, and it looks like he’s feeling better since receiving his diagnosis.

Along with his generous donation, Slim, Smoke Shield, and Slim’s “Swanananana” collaborator Baby Bash plan to donate an additional 1,000 bottles by next Wednesday (April 15th). They will also be providing health care workers in the city with enough hand sanitizer to last throughout the rest of the month of April.
Selena Gomez Reveals She’s Bipolar On IG Live With Miley Cyrus
Selena Gomez shared that she’d recently been diagnosed with bipolar disorder during a chat with Miley Cyrus on her Instagram live series, “Bright Minded.”
Selena Gomez opened up about her recent bipolar disorder diagnosis on Miley Cyrus‘s Instagram live series, Bright Minded, on Friday. In recent years, Selena has been very candid about the mental health struggles she’s faced throughout her life. Her most recent mental health revelation came in the form of a bipolar diagnosis, from the time spent at McLean Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts. During her guest appearance on her former “frenemy” Miley Cyrus’s newly launched IG live show, Selena discussed her experience finding out she was bipolar, and how she’s coping with her mental illness now.

“Recently, I went to one of the best mental hospitals in…America, McLean’s Hospital, and I discussed that, after years of going through a lot of different things, I realized that I was bipolar,” Selena told Miley and the 180,000 viewers that had tuned in. “And so when I got to know more information, it actually helps me. It doesn’t scare me once I know it.”

“I think people get scared of that, right?” she continued. “They’re like, ‘Oh!’ And I’ve seen it, I’ve seen some of it even in my own family, where I’m like, ‘What’s going on?’ I’m from Texas, it’s just not known to talk about mental health. You’ve got to seem cool. And then I see anger built up in children and teenagers…because they are wanting that so badly. I just feel like when I finally said what I was going to say, I wanted to know everything about it. And it took the fear away.” Once Selena finally received her bipolar diagnosis, she said she felt “equal parts terrified and relieved—terrified because the veil was lifted but relieved that I finally had the knowledge of why I had suffered with various depressions and anxieties for so many years. I never had full awareness or answers about this condition.” Catch the full 20-minute conversation between the former Disney stars on the finale episode of Bright Minded below.
Rihanna Teases Kevin Durant About Coronavirus, Drake Intervenes
Rihanna playfully teased Kevin Durant about his recent coronavirus diagnosis in DJ Spade’s IG live comments, prompting Drake to insert himself into the conversation.
Rihanna and Kevin Durant took some lighthearted digs at each other about coronavirus in the comments of yet another one of DJ Spade’s Instagram live streams, and it looks like Drake was a little jealous of their back-and-forth. Ever since the coronavirus pandemic reached new heights, forcing everyone to stay home with nothing to do, Instagram live has become the place to be. Stars have taken to interacting with fellow celebrities in the comments of their peers’ IG live streams, at times dragging each other with love for the sake of relieving boredom. Since famous folks can’t link up with their famous friends IRL anymore, what better place to catch up than in the comments of an IG live sesh?

That’s exactly the attitude that Bad Gal Riri possessed when she tuned into another one of DJ Spade’s IG lives, following his widely discussed spin battle with OVO Sound’s DJ Night Owl Sound earlier this week. Rih noticed that a certain NBA star—Mr. Kevin Durant—was among the many viewers in her company, so she decided to roast him about his currently contagious state following his coronavirus diagnosis. “Is KD allowed in here?” Rih asked the “crowd.” “Should I wear a mask to live?” Later, she followed her joke up with a sincere message about KD’s health. “But foreal get well soon KD,” she wrote. Before he could respond, she continued clowning him by commenting, “Back with my mask! @easymoneysniper wya?” KD eventually acknowledged her playful disses with a diss of his own, bringing up Rihanna’s recent at-risk travels. “Yo Robyn didn’t u just come from Europe?”
The two of them continued to go back and forth with the clap backs, keeping it all in good fun. Catching wind that his buddy, KD, and the lowkey love of his life—I mean, friendly ex were engaging in witty banter, Drake decided to join in on the conversation. The rapper recently went into self-isolation after hanging out with KD only a few days before the Brooklyn Nets star tested positive for coronavirus. Drake later found out he had tested negative, but apparently he still thinks Rih and KD should stop making light of the virus. “We have to dead the treyfive corona jokes,” Drizzy wrote, in hopes that either of them would respond. However, as far as we can tell, neither Rih nor KD saw the comment, or, even, worse, they simply ignored it.

While she may not have engaged with him this time around, Riri and Drake had their own friendly interaction in DJ Spade’s aforementioned spin battle live session. The exchange involved Drake trolling Rihanna about releasing new music (which, technically, did happen this week), and Rih subsequently roasting Drake for acting “thirsty.” Here’s hoping DJ Spade keeps up the live sessions, so we can see more of Drake and Riri’s antics.
Cardi B Thinks Stars Are Paid To Say They Have Coronavirus
Cardi B went on a rant about celebrities getting tested for coronavirus despite having no symptoms, leading her to believe that they’re getting paid.
Cardi B has developed a new conspiracy theory about the coronavirus: all the celebrities alleging that they have coronavirus after getting tested despite having no symptoms are actually just getting paid to say this to the public. Ever since the coronavirus escalated to new heights and started spreading worldwide, many celebrities have come forward to reveal that they are among those who have tested positive for the respiratory virus. While some, like Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson, were tested after they reported flu-like symptoms, others, like Idris Elba, were able to receive a test despite having no symptoms at all. Additionally, after Utah Jazz player Rudy Gobert dismissed COVID-19 prevention protocol and contracted the virus, the whole team was tested as a precautionary measure. Gobert’s teammate Donovan Mitchell went on to test positive, as did fellow NBA players like Brooklyn Nets star Kevin Durant.

Folks have been critical about how COVID-19 tests have been easily accessible for the rich and famous while regular civilians are denied tests, but Cardi B is suspicious of why certain wealthy stars are even getting tested in the first place. The outspoken rapper went live on Instagram recently, and of course, the main topic of discussion was coronavirus. Cardi expressed her frustration and confusion about asymptomatic folks going to get tested, and came to a wild conclusion. “We keep seeing these basketball players say like, ‘Yeah, I have the coronavirus but I don’t got no symptoms,'” Cardi begins. “So how the f*ck am I supposed to know when Im supposed to get tested for it?!”
“Y’all n*ggas is playin’ with me,” she repeats over and over. “That’s my problem right there. Cause y’all not really saying what it is. And it’s like, alright, so tell me what it is and what it ain’t. I’m starting to feel like y’all n*ggas is payin’ n*ggas to say that they got it, and if y’all are paying n*ggas to say that they got it, pay me too! Pay me too! Okay? Sh*t, ’cause I’m trying to get paid.” Do you agree with Cardi, or is this just a bunch of nonsense?
Nelly Thinks Kevin Durant Having Coronavirus Sends A Message
Nelly noted that Kevin Durant testing positive for coronavirus proves that “nobody’s exempt” from contracting the deadly virus.
Nelly‘s response to Kevin Durant contracting coronavirus sends a clear message about the reality of this pandemic: “nobody’s exempt.” Following the news that the Brooklyn Nets star was among the four players on the team that tested positive for coronavirus, Nelly was asked by TMZ to share his thoughts on the matter. The rapper was very compassionate, saying, “our thoughts and our strengths are with him, you know what I’m sayin’ and…speedy recovery.” He went on to say that this case—and, by extension, all celebrity COVID-19 cases—proves that, no matter your wealth, status, or health, “nobody’s exempt” from catching the virus.
“We’re all the same right now,” Nelly noted. “Nobody’s bigger than the other right now. I think we all are one at the same time right now.” The TMZ paparazzo then mentioned the cancellation of Nelly’s upcoming show and asked him how the pandemic is going to affect the music industry. “It’s affecting the world, man, not just the music industry,” Nelly responded. “And, anybody who feels like this is personal, basically got they head in the sand.” As Nelly pointed out, anybody can, in fact, fall victim to the pandemic, which has Drake fans concerned that he may have caught coronavirus from KD after the two spent time together recently.
