Comedian turned superstar actor/television host, Drew Carey, made a heartfelt tribute to his ex-fiancee, Dr. Amie Harwick, on his weekly SiriusXM radio show this past Friday (Feb. 21). Earlier this month, Amie Harwick was tragically strangled and pushed off of a three-story balcony in her Hollywood Hills home by her ex-boyfriend, Gareth Pursehouse. The impact of the fall caused the sex therapist to ultimately lose her life.
During his Drew Carey's Friday Night Freak-Out radio show, the former sitcom star tearfully described how his relationship with Harwick began, stating:
"Back in September 2018, I was in a beautiful, great, best relationship of my life with a woman named Amie Harwick. She was a sex therapist and a mental health advocate. She had a Ph.D. and a master’s degree, and she was beautiful and fun, and cared deeply about people and improving their lives and was just a joy to be around. I was so in love with her."
He then shared one his favorite romantic gestures he made for describing a mixtape he curated for as he continued:
"This one week I said, ‘Hey I made a set for you.’ And she said, ‘Oh really?’ and I said, ‘Yeah.’ I played it for her and she teared up. "This set of music all the time for each other. We would sing the words in each other’s ears. We would hold each other and dance in the kitchen to it and slow dance in the bathroom to it, and the office, living room or where we were. I would hold her and we would hold hands in the car and listen to it. We would sing to each other... I could never hear these songs again without thinking of her so this next set is for Amie Harwick, a beautiful person who didn’t deserve to die like she did. I loved her very much."
Drew Carey decided he wanted to play some of those songs from their mixtape on air. Some of the tracks included Frankie Valli and the 4 Seasons’ "Can’t Take My Eyes Off You," Three Dog Night’s "Old Fashioned Love Song," and Herman’s Hermits’ "I’m Into Something Good." Carey then went on to state that even after their relationship ended, they remained to share a special bond, saying:
"I just want to say, I’m so broken up. Even after we broke up, we still loved each other very much. Even though we broke up the engagement, I was still so in love with her. And she loved me back."
Since Aime's death, The Price is Right shut down production in order to let their host grieve in peace. Dr. Amie Harwick's ex-boyfriend, Gareth Pursehouse, was arrested on the day of her death and was charged with murder. Unfortunately, he was released on $2 million bail.

Dr. Amie Harwick’s Killer Charged With Murder
Dr. Amie Harwick’s alleged killer has been arrested and charged with murder with the possibility of the death penalty.
Another legal development has occurred following the murder of Dr. Amie Hardwick, who was pushed to her death on Saturday, February 15th. During a domestic dispute with a man named Gareth Pursehouse, a man she allegedly dated for a brief time, Hardwick was pushed from a third-floor balcony and ultimately passed away from injuries sustained. Police have since arrested Pursehouse and TMZ has confirmed he’ll be facing a variety of serious charges, including murder and first-degree burglary.

Should he be convicted of murder, it’s entirely possible that Pursehouse lands the death penalty provided prosecutors opt to pursue it. As of now there are no updates on that front, as the D.A. has yet to announce an official decision. It should be noted that even if Pursehouse does manage to avoid the death penalty, he’s still facing life in prison without parole. Those following the case will know that Pursehouse was originally taken into custody on Saturday, February 15th, only to be released on bail on Tuesday the 18th. He was taken into custody once again yesterday, and he’s set to be arraigned at some point today.
Dr. Amie Harwick was 38 when she died, a well-known counselor who specialized in both family and sexuality. As many likely know by now, Harwick was previously married to Drew Carey, who issued a heartbreaking statement to CNN: “Amie and I had a love that people are lucky to have once in a lifetime. She was a positive force in the world, a tireless and unapologetic champion for women, and passionate about her work as a therapist. I am overcome with grief. I would like to thank you in advance for giving myself and everyone who loved Amie privacy while we try to work through this tragic situation.”
Rest in peace.
Amie Harwick’s Alleged Killer Released On $2 Million Bond
The alleged murderer and ex-boyfriend of Dr. Amie Harwick—celebrity sex therapist and ex-fiancée of Drew Carey—has been released from jail on a $2 million bond.
Dr. Amie Harwick’s ex and alleged killer has been released from jail on a $2 million bond, following the celebrity sex therapist’s death on Saturday. Amie’s death was reported as a suspected murder after her ex, Gareth Pursehouse, was accused of throwing her off the balcony of her third-floor apartment in a heated attack. Gareth was released on Tuesday night at 10:25pm, and has been ordered to return to court for suspicion of murder on March 10th, according to records obtained by Page Six. Amie was previously engaged to comedian and game show host, Drew Carey, who revealed that he was “overcome with grief” upon hearing the news of her death.

According to the Los Angeles Times, Amie had accused Gareth of stalking her and had even obtained restraining orders against him in the past. In official court documents, Amie disclosed, “he has suffocated me, punched me, slammed my head on the ground, kicked me. This has resulted in bruises, inability to walk, bleeding, broken blood vessels around face, whiplash, sore neck and back.” Amie and Gareth had a run-in at a porn awards show a few weeks before he allegedly murdered her. Fellow sex therapist and friend of Amie’s, Hernando Chaves, claimed that the exes’ encounter “seemed to reignite his obsessive preoccupation with her.”

“He was irate, angry, aggressive, verbally abusive, distraught, under duress. She was trying to calm him down, she was trying to help him soothe, she was trying to be compassionate and empathic.” Authorities arrested Gareth after Amie was found underneath a third-story balcony with injuries consistent with a fall following reports of a woman screaming. Los Angeles County coroner officials determined that she eventually died of blunt force injuries to her head and torso. Evidence at the scene of the crime suggests that forced entry was used and that a struggle ensued within the home. Surveillance footage revealed that the suspect was a white male dressed in black.
Wendy Williams Jokes About Drew Carey’s Ex-Fiancée’s Death
Wendy Williams attempted to make light of Amie Harwick’s death but it was not received well by her live audience or fans across the nation.
After all the backlash she received for her anti-gay comments last week, you would think that Wendy Williams would be a little more careful on her daytime talk show but, alas, she’s back in the headlines for more of the same. This week started off with the horrific news of the death of Amie Harwick, Drew Carey’s ex-fiancée. Neighbors heard screaming from her residence and when they arrived, they found Harwick dead after being pushed off the third-floor balcony. Harwick’s ex-boyfriend, Gareth Pursehouse, is being investigated in relation to the crime, getting arrested shortly after signs of a struggle were indicated and, when reporting the news to her audience, Wendy Williams thought it would be appropriate to crack a joke about the situation.

During the Hot Topics segment of her popular daytime television show, Williams approached the topic with caution at first, informing her fans that Carey’s ex-fiancée was tragically murdered in the Hollywood Hills. When specifying that the comedian was not involved in her death, she tried to make light of the situation by making a The Price Is Right joke. “Come on down!” enthusiastically blurted out Wendy before making a motion with her head as if to mimic Harwick’s death. Viewers of the show have critiqued the host as being inappropriate and heartless at that moment.
Just last week, she was forced to apologize to the LGBTQ+ community after making comments about gay men and how they should stop wearing dresses and other women’s clothing. We’re sure an apology is coming for this, as well. Watch below at the 10:06 mark.
