Ellen DeGeneres' tweet about the "injustice" faced by "people of colour" in America in the wake of George Floyd's murder by police has since disappeared from her account after she received criticism for her choice of words. On Saturday (May 30th), Ellen tweeted a message in regards to the murder of a Black man, George Floyd, at the hands of the police in Minneapolis.
"Like so many of you, I am angry and I am sad," she wrote. "People of color in this country have faced injustice for far too long. For things to change, things must change. We must commit ourselves to this change with conviction and with love." However, the tweet was quickly deleted, after Ellen received criticism for using the umbrella term "people of colour" rather than indicating that this is an issue specifically plaguing Black people. Many found the tweet to be "tone-deaf" and "hypocritical," largely due to Ellen's public friendship with former U.S. president, George Bush.

"Not people of color," one user replied. "George Floyd was black. Why are [you] being so cautious? Seriously?" Another user pointed out Ellen's failure to financially support the Black Lives Matter movement. "I still find it funny how Ellen Degeneres, a woman who is famous for boastfully signing life-size checks to random people on her show, can't even post a screenshot on the internet of her donating money in support of Black lives," they wrote.
After deleting her initial tweet, Ellen posted some follow-up messages including the following: "I support the protestors who are exercising their rights and standing up against the horrible injustices that Black people in America face everyday. #BlackLivesMatter." She also revealed that she had donated to a few different organizations in support of the BLM movement. "I am making a donation to the George Floyd Memorial Fund, the
@NAACP_LDF, @BlkLivesMatter, and the @ACLU in support of them, and I hope you will join me if you are able."
Don Lemon Calls Out Ellen, Oprah, Drake & More For "Doing Nothing" Amid Protests
Don Lemon called out a ton of famous and powerful people on air for not doing enough in the fight for justice in George Floyd's murder by police.
Don Lemon has had enough of Hollywood's rich and powerful staying virtually silent while protestors fight for justice on the frontline for George Floyd after he was murdered by police in Minneapolis. The CNN Tonight host called a ton of famous figures out by name for their lack of action amid these protests, some of whom he notes are close friends of his.

"What about Hollywood? Strangely quiet," Don said during a conversation with Rev. William Barber while they observed footage of the protests going on across America. "I've seen them on Twitter, I see them, 'Oh, I'm loving what Don Lemon's doing'...But they gotta do more than that...Why aren't they helping these young people? These young people are out there standing on a platform at the edge of an abyss by themselves."
"Yes, I'm calling you out, and you can be mad at me all you want," he continued. "And what they're doing, you're sitting there and watching TV and you're b*tching abut it...Get on television or do something and help these young people instead of sitting in your mansions and doing nothing. And have some moral courage and stop worrying about your reputation and your brand." He went on to note that while monetary donations are desperately needed, "visibility is extremely important."
During his monologue, he discussed the need for powerful folks in the industry to step up. "I wanna see every white person of power and influence and wealth out here fighting for this cause and for young people," he said. "Every black person of power and wealth and substance fighting for these young people...For the young kids who are doing the right thing." He proceeds to call out massively wealthy celebrities like Ellen DeGeneres, Oprah Winfrey, Tyler Perry, Diddy, Drake, and more, acknowledging that while they do donate “millions,” their "visibility in helping speak out for these young kids” is what’s needed right now.
Gabrielle Union Roasts D-Wade For Nightmarish Retirement
Dwyane Wade is already getting on Gabrielle Union’s nerves.
Dwyane Wade will forever be remembered as a legend of the game of basketball, who won three championships with the Miami Heat. Two of those titles were with LeBron James and that Heat superteam will go down in history as one of the greatest ever. Now, Wade is retired and has been enjoying life at home with his children and, of course, his wife Gabrielle Union. Wade has been able to get even more quality time with his family now that we are under quarantine due to the Coronavirus.
While you would think this would make everyone in the house happy, it appears to have done the opposite for Union, although in a joking way, of course. Recently, Wade and Union were on “The Ellen Degeneres Show” and had a ton of fun playing “Finger Pointers.” At one point though, Union jokingly admitted that Wade’s retirement has been a “nightmare” for her since he is around the house a lot more frequently than before.
Wade didn’t seem to take much offense by the comments. At the end of the day, they’re guests on an entertainment show so you have to expect these jokes coming your way. Besides, Wade is living the good life now that he doesn’t have to worry about training for games every single day.
As for Union, Wade’s prolonged stay at home is just something the two of them will have to get used to.

Tiffany Haddish Got Caught Going To The Bathroom While On Zoom
Tiffany Haddish told Ellen Degeneres the story of how she accidentally got caught using the bathroom while she was still on camera during a zoom meeting.
Tiffany Haddish does not seem like the type that would embarrass easily, but even she couldn’t help but feel a little humiliated after she was called out during a Zoom meeting for using the toilet while she was still on camera. Due to social distancing measures as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, tons of in-person gatherings are now taking place over video chat, and Zoom seems to be the most popular platform to carry out business meetings, university classes, and other multi-person affairs. While Zoom has been a useful tool as folks adjust to these unprecedented times, there are a few worst case scenarios that certainly can occur. In fact, Tiffany Haddish recently experienced a Zoom amateur’s worst nightmare, when she decided to take her phone with her to the bathroom during a virtual meeting, not realizing that everyone could see and hear what she was doing.

The actress joined Ellen DeGeneres on her at-home talk show on Wednesday, where she was asked by the host about a different incident in which she forgot to wear a bra during a live cooking show. However, Ellen pointed out that that wasn’t the only instance in which Tiffany made an embarrassing mistake on camera recently.
“Okay so, Zoom—I hadn’t really been using it at that point in time, and I thought whoever is on the front thing, whoever’s talking, that’s who we can see,” Tiffany explained to Ellen. “So I was like ‘I ain’t going to say nothing and I’ve got to use the restroom.’ I didn’t want to leave the meeting either, so I took the phone with me, ’cause I didn’t know you could scroll over and everybody can see everybody. I didn’t know. So I took it with me and then I start using the bathroom and they’re like ‘Tiffany, you know we know you’re in the restroom right now.’ I was like, ‘Y’all can see me?!'”
After she and Ellen share a laugh, Tiffany added, “Needless to say, I sold that show!” Besides reliving her recent humiliations, Tiffany also told Ellen about the virtual date she went on with rumoured boyfriend, Common, through the Bumble dating app. “I am single, but I’m dating,” she explained. “I’ve been using Bumble. Bumble started this virtual dating thing and it has been great. I went on a virtual date with Common and it was super fun.” Patiently waiting for the day these two finally confirm their highly speculated relationship.
Bill Gates Explains What It Will Take For Life To Go Back To Normal
Bill Gates joined Ellen Degeneres for an in-depth conversation about the Coronavirus.
While March was a terrible month for many people, April hasn’t been much better. The Coronavirus continues to ravage its way through numerous countries around the globe, particularly the United States which has the most cases of any nation. People are starting to fear how long this quarantine could go on for as many need to get back to work in order to provide for their families. Others have been struggling with mental health as the confinement has ruined their routines.
Bill Gates has been at the forefront of Coronavirus research and in a new interview with Ellen Degeneres, he divulged when Americans can expect to go back to normal. As he explains, it’s going to be a long process as a vaccine or effective treatment is the only way to get things back to where they were before. This could take months and, most likely, over a year.
“This is worse than war but the amount we put into it, the amount we practised and had the ability to make these tools, virtually nothing was done,” Gates said. “Until we get almost everybody vaccinated globally we still won’t be fully back to normal. […] We need to start getting things back to normal. They won’t be back to normal until we have that phenomenal vaccine or a therapeutic that’s over 95 per cent effective. We have to assume that’s going to be almost 18 months from now.”
While Gates’ assessment is grim, it’s one we have to take seriously if we want to make sure we save lives, as opposed to putting more at risk.

Charlamagne Tha God Dubs Ellen Degeneres "Donkey Of The Day"
After comparing her mansion-based quarantine to a stay in prison, Ellen Degeneres found herself on the receiving end of Charlamagne’s dubious honor.
It goes without saying that these are some trying times we live in, with quarantine-induced cabin-fever reaching an unprecedented high for both celebrities and us regular folk alike. Of course, with one major distinction being that the former tend to be holed up in actual mansions, many of which feature more square feet than three houses combined.
Still, cabin-fever does not discriminate, and the iconic television host Ellen Degeneres recently found herself likening her own quarantine period to a stay in prison. Her words caught the attention of Charlamagne Tha God, who took issue with the flippant disregard Ellen showcased toward an issue he holds dear to his heart. As such, he went on to bestow her with the dubious honor of Donkey Of The Day, prefacing that while she is not a stupid person, her “blindspot” toward this particular subject ultimately left her coming off as such.
Christopher Polk/Getty Images
“Very important note,” begins Charla. “Ellen lives in a mansion that’s over eight thousand square feet, sits on 8.24 acres of land, it has five bedrooms, a cabana that doubles as a gym, a two-bedroom guest house, and a salt-pebble infinity pool that overlooks the ocean. And it cost her twenty-seven million to buy. I’m not mad at her! She has a skillset and a talent that has enabled her to live like that and secure the bag. I’m not one of those people who knock people for their accomplishments.”
“I’m giving Ellen Degeneres Donkey Of The Day cause Ellen Degeneres insisted that her mansion is like a prison,” he continues, before playing a clip from Ellen’s self-taped quarantine episode. “In light of what’s going on in prisons and jails around the country in this global pandemic called COVID-19, Ellen Degeneres sounds tone-deaf as hell.” He proceeds to ask Ellen to use her massive platform to help shed a light on some of the issues prisoners are currently facing, playing a disturbing clip shared by inmate Aron Campbell highlighting the rampant spread across his low-security facility.

Justin Timberlake Accidentally Broke Into Alcatraz Once
Justin Timberlake revealed that he and his *NSYNC bandmate, Joey Fatone, once broke into Alcatraz while they were shooting a music video back in the day.
Justin Timberlake may have lowkey broke into the Alcatraz prison along with fellow *NSYNC member, Joey Fatone, way back in the early aughts while they were in the middle of shooting the music video for their hit, “This I Promise You,” in San Francisco. JT recently made a stop at The Ellen DeGeneres Show to promote Trolls World Tour, alongside his collaborators on the animated film’s soundtrack, SZA and Anderson .Paak. During their visit, Ellen had them play a game of “Spill The Tea,” where guests have to share a secret with the show’s producers and Ellen has to then try to correctly match the secret to the contestant. The game revealed a lot, like how Anderson has a tattoo on his stomach that says “trust your gut,” but Justin’s story about unintentionally breaking into one of the most historic prisons in the world really takes the cake.
“I accidentally broke into Alcatraz one time,” he begins. “We were shooting a video in the Redwoods outside of San Francisco, and we ended up shooting this one scene on this pier directly across from Alcatraz. At that time, I was watching The Untouchables over and over again, and I was obsessed with the fact that Al Capone was—that they put him in Alcatraz. I said, ‘Who wants to go see Alcatraz with me?’ and Joey [Fatone], who’s usually game for anything, he was like, ‘I’ll go with you.'”

The two of them ended up hitching a boat ride to the island with the fire department in exchange for some photos with the group, but there was a catch: they didn’t have tickets, and they couldn’t buy any at the actual prison. They successfully snuck in by pretending that the people behind them in line had their tickets, and just joined a tour group once they got inside.
Vince Bucci/Newsmakers/Getty Images
“We had just gotten to Al Capone’s cell,” Justin continued, “and we get a tap on the shoulder and they’re like, ‘Come with me,’ and I was like, ‘Joe, we’re gonna go down in history as the dumbest people ever. We got caught breaking into a prison.'” However, things didn’t turn out quite as bad as they could have. “They let us go away with a warning,” he explained, “and obviously, we had to pay for the tickets.” Phew! Check out the music video for “This I Promise You” that led to this spontaneous “crime.”
Demi Lovato Reveals Substance Abuse Was Linked To Her Eating Disorder
Demi Lovato stopped by “The Ellen Show” to discuss her struggles with substance abuse, addiction, and an eating disorder.
On Thursday (Feb. 5), Demi Lovato got candid with Ellen Degeneres about her battle with addiction, substance abuse, and an unknown eating disorder. In July 2018, the “Fall in Line” singer suffered from an accidental heroin overdose that was laced with the deadly fentanyl narcotic. Following her downward spiral into drug abuse, the 27-year-old singer/songwriter was unsure if she would be able to maintain a career as a musician. Now, Lovato is being more transparent than ever about her journey during her most recent interview on The Ellen Show. Kevin Winter/Getty Images
According to Lovato, she and her team were constantly at odds due to their aggressive food monitoring tactics that eventually led to her abusing drugs. During the interview, Lovato revealed how her brutal her team was in regards to her eating habits, stating:
“If I was in my hotel room at night, they would take the phone out of the hotel room so I couldn’t call room service, or if there was fruit in my room they took it out because that’s extra sugar. We’re not talking about brownies and cookies and candies and stuff like that, it was fruit.”
The Glee actress then went on to detail how her team members’ over-controlling tactics led to her questioning her sobriety, saying:
“So I was stuck in this unhappy position and here I am sober and I’m thinking to myself, ‘I’m six years sober but I’m miserable.'” Lovato continued, “I’m even more miserable than I was when I was drinking. Why am I sober?”
When she attempted to express how her management’s micromanagement was affecting her, she was told that she was being “selfish” and that her eating habits could potentially “ruin everything not only for herself but for all of those around her.” All of this aggression eventually led to Lovato relapsing on drugs and alcohol and her eventual 2018 overdose that required her to stay at Cedars Sinai Medical Center for a total of two weeks.
Now, Demi Lovato is standing tall and speaking on the experiences that have allowed her to display a level of resilience rarely seen in the music industry. Check out the videos of Demi Lovato detailing how her eating disorder led her down a dark path of substance abuse and addiction in the video provided below.
Dwyane Wade Speaks On 12-Year Old Child’s Coming Out Story
Dwayne Wade and Gabrielle Union’s 12-year old child has changed her name to Zaya, the basketball player discusses on Ellen Degeneres.
Dwyane Wade and Gabrielle Union have both been a champion of LGBTQ+ rights over the past few months, a journey Wade discusses in a new interview with Ellen Degeneres. While some have criticized Wade for encouraging his child to live her truth at such a young age, Wade has been adamant that he wants to be the best father possible and hopes for his child to live the best life she can.
In the aforementioned interview, Wade opened up even more about his child and how she recently came home asking to go by a new name. His 12-year-old was born with the name Zion which is a more masculine name. Now, she prefers to go by Zaya which is something Wade has 100 percent embraced.
“When Zaya came home and said, ‘Hey, I want to talk to you guys. I think going forward, I’m ready to live my truth. I want to be referenced as she and her. I would love for you guys to call me Zaya,'” Wade said. “So internally it’s our job to one go out and get information, to reach out to every relationship that we have. My wife reached out to everyone on the cast of Pose. We just tried to figure out as much information as we can to help our child be her best self.”
Wade’s entire family has been supportive of Zaya, particularly his wife Gabrielle Union who took Zaya to the 2019 Pride parade in Miami. The former basketball star also says he hopes Zaya can become a leader in the LGBTQ+ community and will continue to speak out on gender identity-related issues.
