"This is the culmination of a dream," Musk told CBS News. "This is a dream come true. In fact, it feels surreal. If you asked me when starting SpaceX if this would happen, I’d be like, one percent — 0.1 percent chance."
The 19-hour trip to the International Space Station is the first voyage to space launched in the United States since 2011. The crew left the Kennedy Space Center in Florida at 3:23 PM, making them the first to ride a commercially owned spacecraft into orbit.
“This is everything America has to offer in its purest form," NASA Administrator Jim Bridenstine said. "And times are tough right now. There is no doubt. We’ve got the coronavirus pandemic, we’ve got other challenges as a country.
"But I hope this moment in time is an opportunity for everybody to reflect on humanity and what we can do when we work together, when we strive and when we achieve," he added.
President Donald Trump and Vice President Mike Pence were in attendance. "I think this is such a great inspiration for our country," Trump told reporters after the launch.

Grimes Reveals Her & Elon Musk’s Nickname For Baby X Æ A-Xii
Grimes revealed the nickname that she and her partner Elon Musk have for their newborn baby boy, X Æ A-Xii.
Grimes and Elon Musk may have the most unconventional baby name in the world, but their nickname for the newborn is a little more run-of-the-mill. In an interview with Bloomberg about her new art exhibit, “Selling Out,” Grimes touched on the new addition to her family, whose eccentric name received quite the reaction when it was revealed to the public earlier this month. However, Grimes and Elon have a sweet nickname for X Æ A-Xii that is a little easier to pronounce: “Little X.”

Although the new parents initially tried to name their child X Æ A-12, a reference to a number of things including an aircraft and Artificial Intelligence, they were later told that, under California law, a child’s legal name cannot include any symbols other than the letters of the English alphabet. For this reason—and, according to Grimes, because Roman numerals just “look better”—they changed the spelling of the baby’s name to X Æ A-Xii.

Although it was rumoured that the proper pronunciation of this head-scratcher of a name was “Ash Archangel,” Elon later clarified that it is actually just pronounced “X Ash.” However, Grimes has said that the name is pronounced “Ex-Eye,” although she later replied to a fan inquiring about the pronunciation that the child “has many names.”
Elon Musk & Grimes Change Baby Name From X Æ A-12
Elon Musk and Grimes made a slight alteration to their’s baby X Æ A-12’s legal name.
Elon Musk and Grimes decided to give their baby boy the very on-brand name of X Æ A-12, giving that child a very difficult future in school. At this point, it has been confirmed that the name is pronounced “Ash Archangel” but, if we’re being honest, that kid will need to explain that to every single one of his friends and teachers forever.
It was reported that, since the name contains numbers, it would not be legal for Musk and Grimes to name their son X Æ A-12. They managed to find a work-around though, as revealed by the singer on Instagram.
“Did you change the baby name because of Californian laws? What is the baby’s new name?” asked a fan on Grimes’ new upload. She responded that they made a very slight alteration but, in retrospect, the name is pretty much the same.
“X Æ A-Xii,” she replied.
It seems as though their way around California laws was to use Roman numerals instead of the actual number 12. Pretty clever.
Did you expect anything other than this from a pair of eclectic celebrities like Elon Musk and Grimes? They were never going to name their child “Josh” after all… Are you a fan of the new name?

Musk originally wrote "Take the red pill," to which Trump responded "Taken!" Both were referencing the reopening of America during the COVID-19 pandemic.
"Fuck both of you," Wachowski curtly replied. After her post went viral, she added, "Support @BSAllianceChi if you can."
Musk has been openly in support of reopening American businesses, and has already attempted to reopen his Tesla factory, going against state orders.
"I think we're rapidly moving towards opening up the country," Musk explained during an interview with podcast host Joe Rogan. "It's going to happen extremely fast over the next few weeks."
"Where do civil liberties fit in this picture? What can the government make you do? What can they make you not do, and what's okay?" Musk asked. "I think we went too far."
Musk was even harsher on a conference call following the Telsa's first-quarter profit: "Frankly, I would call it forcible imprisoning of people in their homes against all of, their constitutional rights, in my opinion," he said. "It's breaking people's freedoms in ways that are horrible and wrong and not why they came to America or built this country. What the f---. Excuse me. Outrage. Outrage."

Elon Musk Says Tesla’s Suing County Over COVID-19 Rules
As Alameda County health officials extend restrictions until June 1st, Tesla founder Elon Musk files a lawsuit and threatens to move the company to another state.
Elon Musk sparked outrage after expressing his views on the current restrictions placed in Alameda County in California where the Tesla HQ is located. Over the weekend, Elon Musk touched Twitter with a hot take on the current social distancing rules and how they've not just impacted all businesses across the state but his business specifically.
"Tesla is filing a lawsuit against Alameda County immediately. The unelected & ignorant “Interim Health Officer” of Alameda is acting contrary to the Governor, the President, our Constitutional freedoms & just plain common sense," he wrote on Twitter in response to the extension of social distancing rules until June 1st.
"Frankly, this is the final straw," he added in a separate tweet. "Tesla will now move its HQ and future programs to Texas/Nevada immediately. If we even retain Fremont manufacturing activity at all, it will be dependent on how Tesla is treated in the future. Tesla is the last carmaker left in CA."
Tesla was forced to close down their factory on March 23rd. Musk has been vehemently against the stay-at-home orders, especially towards the end of April when quarterly earnings statements were released. But a rep for the county's health department revealed they were devising a plan with Tesla. “We look forward to coming to an agreement on an appropriate safety plan very soon,” the statement said. “It is our collective responsibility to move through the phases of reopening and loosening the restrictions of the shelter-in-place order in the safest way possible, guided by data and science."
Elon Musk Corrects Grimes On The Meaning Of Their Son’s Name
Elon Musk corrected his girlfriend, Grimes, on one detail in her explanation of their son's bizarre name right after she gave birth to X Æ A-12.
Elon Musk felt the need to correct a small error in his girlfriend Grimes' explanation for why they decided to name their newborn son X Æ A-12 soon after she gave birth. Elon and Grimes have come to be known as one of the more eccentric couples in the industry, so when it was revealed that the Tesla founder and musician were expecting their first child together, the Internet immediately started getting their jokes off. However, nobody could have prepared us for the bizarre series of letters and numbers that the couple would end up naming their child: X Æ A-12.

Shortly after Grimes gave birth, Elon announced on Twitter that their little baby boy had been given this unpronounceable name, and the world collectively scratched their heads. Perhaps realizing everyone's confusion, Grimes took the time to explain the meaning behind each part of the name, noting that one particular detail—A-12—is "a precursor to SR-17 (our favorite aircraft)."
However, her new baby daddy proceeded to point out a typo she'd made, replying, "SR-71, but yes," to the tweet. Grimes, who had given birth roughly 24 hours prior, reminded him that she is "recovering from surgery and barely alive."
"May my typos b forgiven but, damnit," she continued. "That was meant to be profound." Elon responded, "U r a powerful [fairy queen]," so it appears that there is ultimately no real hostility between these new parents.
Along with the "A-12" detail, Grimes also explained the other symbols in her son's name. "X, the unknown variable," she wrote. "Æ, my elven spelling of Ai (love &/or Artificial intelligence)." However, despite all the thought they put into developing this name, which is believed to be pronounced "Ash Archangel," it turns out they cannot legally spell their child's name with these symbols. According to a supervisor at the Department of Public Health Vital Records Office in Los Angeles, where the baby was reportedly born, California law states that only the 26 letters in the English alphabet can be used. Perhaps they'll put the "Ash Archangel" spelling on the birth certificate—it would probably make the child's life easier in the future.
Elon Musk & Grimes Not Allowed To Name Their Baby X Æ A-12
Elon Musk and Grimes are not able to name their baby boy X Æ A-12 under California law.
The news was picked up by almost every major news outlet this week after Elon Musk and Grimes welcomed their newborn baby boy into the world. The couple shared some baby pictures the other day before revealing that they had given him a very unique name. The couple ended up settling on X Æ A-12, which nobody is quite sure how to pronounce.
People have theorized that the name is pronounced "Ash Archangel" after Grimes revealed that they were influenced by the name of their favorite aircraft.
Unfortunately, they received some bad news shortly after the announcement though, learning that they cannot legally name their little boy X Æ A-12.
According to a supervisor at the Department of Public Health Vital Records Office in Los Angeles -- where the child is believed to have been born -- it is against the law for somebody to have symbols or numbers in their name. California law states that only the 26 letters in the English alphabet can be used.
With that said, the kid's legal name will need to be something other than X Æ A-12. Perhaps they'll end up with Ash Archangel, written like that.
Elon Musk and Grimes have not yet commented on the legalities of naming their son X Æ A-12.
Grimes Explains Why She & Elon Musk Named Newborn "X Æ A-12 Musk"
Grimes reportedly gave birth yesterday, and after Elon Musk revealed their child's name as "X Æ A-12 Musk," the public had a few questions.
Congratulations are in order for Elon Musk and Grimes who welcomed their son just yesterday. Elon couldn't help but share the news with the world as fans pelted him with questions about when his girlfriend was due to give birth. First, he tweeted that they were just a few hours away from the birth of their baby, and when he arrived, he added that both Grimes and the baby were happy and healthy.

Previously, Grimes told fans that she didn't want to share the baby's name because people were having a hard time understanding it, but as soon as the child was born, Elon tweeted that they'd decided to go with "X Æ A-12 Musk." Unsurprisingly, the news sparked quite the discussion on social media, so Grimes stepped forward to explain how they came up with their unique name.
"X, the unknown variable," she wrote. "Æ, my elven spelling of Ai (love &/or Artificial intelligence) A-12 = precursor to SR-17 (our favorite aircraft). No weapons, no defenses, just speed. Great in battle, but non-violent." She also added, ""A=Archangel, my favorite song." The internet is debating how to pronounce it, but many are speculating that the child's name is Ash. Check out Grimes tweeting the details below.
Elon Musk Announces Arrival Of Baby With Girlfriend Grimes, Shares Name & Gender
Elon Musk & Grimes are reportedly proud parents after the tech mogul shared that their baby has arrived.
There is good news for Elon Musk and Grimes amid this global pandemic: The couple has welcomed their first child together on Monday (May 4). This makes for Grimes's first child and Elon's sixth, as he shares five sons with his ex-wife. While the 48-year-old had a bit of a rough weekend after his tweetstorm last week negatively impacted his businesses, he kept things brief when announcing the good news about Baby Musk to the world.

"A few hours away!" Musk told a fan who asked about the arrival of his newborn. Later he added, "Mom & baby all good." Grimes, 32, previously spoke about the plans that she and Musk had for their little one. "I don't want to say what it is because everyone I've told it hates it, and everyone's gonna make fun of it," said Grimes of her child's name back in February. "But it is, in fact, a genius name and people just don't appreciate it yet because it's too avant-garde." The baby's name? "X Æ A-12 Musk," Elon told a Twitter user.
While Grimes previously stated that she didn't want to reveal the baby's gender, Elon shared that they had a boy. "I don't think they can consent to being famous or being in public," Grimes said months ago of her baby. "And I don't want to gender them in case that's not how they feel in their life. I don't know, I just feel like it doesn't need to be known." Congrats to the couple on their new arrival.
Elon Musk Passionately Calls For America’s Freedom
In the ongoing debate about reopening the United States of America, Elon Musk has come forward with a passionate stance.
If there's one reality that we can all agree on, it's that those Tesla Trucks aren't going to buy themselves, people. Especially not when a coronavirus-related recession continues to wreak havoc on the American economy. Unfortunately, many health experts are wary about fully committing to a full-scale "reopening" of the country, putting them at odds with several gung-ho individuals seeking to salvage what remains of business normalcy. Of course, such is a gross oversimplification of a complicated socio-political-economic discourse -- suffice it to say, people are growing increasingly divided on what America's best move should be.

Now, Elon Musk has emerged to lend his resonant voice to the choir. Taking to Twitter, Musk slammed down on the all-caps button and let fly a passionate cry of "FREE AMERICA NOW." The decisive tone and message was enough to incite both ends of the political spectrum, and before long "Elon" was among the trending topics -- this time, no "RIP Harambe" anthem in sight. Given that many hold Musk in high esteem, be it for his intelligence or his influence, it's no wonder his message elicited such passionate responses.
At this point, the widespread debate only promises to get more vitriolic, with the likes of Tomi Lahren already likening social distancing measures to willful slavery. It's unclear as to what prompted Elon Musk to take such a firm stance, but we can already guarantee that this one is all but tailor-made for a Donald Trump retweet. Where do you stand on Elon's "FREE AMERICA" movement?
