Fans thought Rasheeda Frost and husband Kirk Frost were headed to divorce court after it came to light that he'd gotten a stripper pregnant. Love & Hip Hop Atlanta viewers watched as Kirk got himself caught in a trap after he cheated on his wife and impregnated Jasmine Washington, an exotic dancer in the ATL. Kirk questioned whether or not he was the father, but a DNA proved that he was, indeed, the dad of their son Kannon.
While viewers yelled at their screens for the rapper to kick Kirk to the curb, she made the difficult decision to reconcile and work on their relationship. This year, the pair, who share two sons together, is celebrating 20 years of marriage, and in an interview with ESSENCE, Rasheeda had quite a bit to say about critics who chastised her for staying with her husband and helping to raise his lovechild.
"I’m going to be honest with you — a lot of times, people who speak on that could never wear my shoes," Rasheeda told the publication. "A lot of women haven’t even been in a relationship for five minutes, let alone 20 years. So you can’t speak on the decisions that I make. At the end of the day, it’s my life. And I never let anybody’s opinion sway me in a direction. All I did is pray and follow my heart. And if nobody likes it, don’t follow me and don’t leave any comments. Something you deal with might be something I wouldn’t deal with, but it’s not for me to tell you what to do."
On a later season of Love & Hip Hop Atlanta, Rasheeda admitted that there both she and Kirk had been unfaithful during their marriage. "I haven’t always been perfect and neither has he," she told ESSENCE. "We’ve been through our share of a lot of different things, but you’re either going to fight or you’re going to let it go. That’s just the end of it. We fought for ours." Watch Rasheeda and Jasmine's tense confrontation on Love & Hip Hop Atlanta below.
Jhené Aiko Reveals Big Sean’s Reaction To "Triggered" Single
Last year, Jhené Aiko released her single “Triggered (Freestyle)” where she aired out her frustrations about a breakup.
Their newly rekindled romance has placed them back in the ranks of adorable hip hop couples, but in the Spring of 2019, Jhené Aiko poured out her heart on her single “Triggered (Freestyle).” The R&B singer shared her frustrations, sorrow, and anger with a former lover—a person that fans believed to be her then-ex Big Sean. In a recent interview with Essence, Jhené shared that her breakup with Sean did inspire the song, but added that the track in its entirety wasn’t about him.

Jhené shared what it was like when she first played the track for Sean. “He was just like, ‘Wow, I’m not your friend.’ I was like, ‘Well, I was feeling that in the moment. This is just a song. This is not 100 percent about you,’” said Jhené. “Those are the things that I may feel, and I know that they are irrational and coming from just an angry emotional place, but that’s what’s so beautiful about art is that you can just throw paint on a blank canvas, and do something crazy and that’s your release. You didn’t hurt anyone, you know? I feel like, especially because we have a personal relationship, and a true friendship, that’s why I could play it for him, and be like, ‘Yeah, sorry. I kind of went really hard, but don’t think that this is a personal letter to you.’”
Elsewhere in the interview, Jhené spoke about creating personal boundaries on social media, especially in a culture where everyone feels entitled to be in each other’s businesses. “The internet has made everyone aware of their opinion,” Jhené said. “As many people as there are in the world, that’s how many opinions there are. If you let that many opinions affect your own opinion, and your own way of looking at things, you’re going to be so confused.”
She added, “Whether it be something with me and Sean, or me and my daughter… I just love the feeling of taking that away from people; their need to have to say something or have to give their opinion because I personally have never been that way—well maybe when I was younger, or high or drunk.” If you haven’t listened to “Triggered (Freestyle)” yet, you can check it out below. Jhené’s forthcoming album CHILOMBO arrives March 6.

Finding his zen.

In a recent sit-down with Essence, the singer once again chatted about his personal growth and the controversial headlines that captured the attention of Love & Hip Hop Hollywood fans, along with the R&B and hip hop worlds, throughout 2019. While Omarion previously remained relatively silent about watching his former friend and his ex-girlfriend trash-talk him on reality television, the “Touch” singer has been making the rounds in the media, reflecting on earning his “Mr. Unbothered” title.
Essence directly asked Omarion why he opted to fly solo for the next Millennium Tour instead of once again joining with B2K, and according to the outlet, he avoided giving an answer. He did, however, say this: “I really wanted to give the fans what they’ve always wanted—that was to see us back together. I think really, stepping back and really recognizing certain things that took place—you know ’cause going back on the road, it took me back. I never really understood certain things about my career and my connection with my fans until I went back.”
Fans will be able to check out Omarion and Bow Wow reuniting on the Millennium Tour II to perform tracks from their 2007 joint project Face Off. Joining them will be Pretty Ricky, Ashanti, Lloyd, Soulja Boy, Sammie, and Ying Yang Twins. Check out his interview with Essence below.
