Lil Yachty and G Herbo both came through with projects on Friday and it's safe to say that fans were both excited and satisfied. Yachty came through with his highly-anticipated Lil Boat 3 tape while Herbo dropped the deluxe version of PTSD. There is plenty of music here to dissect and over the last couple of days, fans have been adding their favorite tracks to their respective playlists.
Regardless of how good the music is, sales are always something that is highly debated in the industry. Your first week numbers can give people a glimpse of how well you're doing although there are many factors that go into how many units are sold. Having said that, according to DJ Akademiks, Lil Boat 3 is on track to sell 45K units in the first week while PTSD Deluxe is on pace for 27K units.
We're sure many of you in the comments will be debating whether or not these numbers are a W or an L. With this in mind, first week numbers certainly aren't the be all end all and all that truly matters is whether or not the music is good.
Let us know in the comments below what you thought of these projects.
Joyner Lucas Reflects On "ADHD" Billboard Sales
Joyner Lucas takes a moment to reflect on his loyal fanbase after “ADHD” cracks the Billboard Top 10.
After undergoing what might have been the most extensive rollout in hip-hop history, Joyner Lucas has finally unleashed his full ADHD album upon the masses. And while its staggered two-year plus release may have ultimately hampered the final first-week numbers, Joyner’s fans still came out in droves to support the rapper’s official studio debut. So much so that Joyner tallied up an impressive 30,000 units, enough to propel him to the tenth spot on the Billboard 200 charts.

“I don’t focus on charts and reviews, however I appreciate all my fans all over the world!” he captions, reflecting on the success of his album. “I Made @itunes #1 rap album in the world and @billboard charts top #10 album in the world across all genres. Also noticed I was the only independent artist on the list. To all the indie artist that are constantly pushing through the struggle to one day make it, just know it’s possible. As an artist and the co-founder of @tullyapp I plan on leading by example. #ADHD out now!”
It’s certainly a good look for Joyner, who has proven himself to be at once a creative visionary and a respectable commercial force to be reckoned with — all things considered. And while he doesn’t focus on reviews, perhaps he oughta consider checking out our own song-by-song breakdown of ADHD right here, should he find himself so inclined. Congratulations to Joyner Lucas. Keep fighting the good fight and leading by example.
Russ Scores Win With "Shake The Snow Globe" First Week Sales
Russ’ latest album thrives in good company.
Those independent cheques hit different. Russ, who has since carved out a lane as a young mogul in his own right, continues to thrive off his own self-sustainability. At the end of January, the Diemon King went head to head with Lil Wayne and dropped his own solo album Shake The Snow Globe, arguably the best body of work he’s released thus far. And while he didn’t manage to secure the number one spot, Russ did crack the top five on the Billboard 200, clocking in at number four.

HHNM confirms that Russ came through with a first-week total tally of 67,716, putting him behind the seemingly immovable Roddy Ricch and Please Excuse Me For Being Social. To Russ’ credit, the rapper has never been one to chase numbers or accolades, much to the benefit of his loyal fanbase. While it did feature his biggest hit “Best On Earth,” it’s clear that many of Russ’ listeners looked beyond the viral single and supported the album as a whole.
That’s not to say he’s completely neglectful of industry practices. He certainly made effective use of bundling, securing forty-thousand in physical sales thanks to an upcoming tour package. All signs point to Russ continuing to thrive in the lane he’s carved out — are you along for the ride?
