Yesterday was a big day for the Dallas Cowboys. Earlier in the day, they announced that Dak Prescott would be hit with the franchise tag which is something both sides were trying to avoid. From there, Amari Cooper was signed to a five-year, $100 million deal. While Cooper's signing was a big deal, it's clear that Cowboys fans are much more concerned about what will happen with their star quarterback.
Stephen A. Smith has always been one to rip on the Dallas Cowboys and this morning, that's exactly what he did. Smith even took shots at his fellow ESPN co-worker, Dan Orlovsky. In Smith's eyes, the Cowboys should never have franchised Prescott because it now it makes it seem as though they don't have any confidence in him. Smith also made sure to note that he doesn't think Prescott is worth $40 million per year although the market certainly swings in his favor.
For now, it remains to be seen what the Cowboys will do with Prescott. If the relationship is frayed, there is potential for a sign and trade scenario. While this remains unlikely, some Cowboys fans are fearing the worst. No matter what, you can believe Smith is going to have something negative to say about all of it, once the deal has come to terms.

Skip Bayless In Shambles Over Dak Prescott Cowboys Franchise Tag
Skip Bayless is a huge Cowboys fan and the latest new surrounding Dak Prescott has him hot and bothered.
NFL free agency has already gotten off to a hot start as numerous trades have been made while new deals begin to be set in motion. Clearly, there is still a lot to work in the Dallas Cowboys camp as today, they revealed that Dak Prescott was being hit with the franchise tag. This means Prescott can only negotiate with the Cowboys. Franchise tags rarely work out for either side but regardless, Jerry Jones decided it was the move that had to be made for his team.
One of the biggest haters of this move is none other than Skip Bayless of FS1's Undisputed. The show has been put on hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic although that didn't stop Bayless from hopping on Twitter, in a Cowboys hat, to give his thoughts on the matter.
As he explains, this is a terrible move for the Cowboys and it just goes to show that Prescott and his agent might be in over their heads. Bayless also thinks the move will make Prescott think the Cowboys don't trust him, which will only increase tensions moving forward. The FS1 host is one of the biggest Cowboys fans on the planet and based on his demeanor in the video, he was in a shambolic state over the move.

Cowboys Ruthlessly Hit Dak Prescott With The Franchise Tag
Dak Prescott and the Cowboys have been in a lengthy contract dispute.
Dak Prescott is considered to be one of the better quarterbacks in the NFL although he hasn't exactly prove himself to be a consistent winner. While he's certainly in the upper half of the league, it wouldn't make sense to pay him more than $30 million per year. Well, the Cowboys seem to disagree as they have continuously offered him upwards of $33 million. For Prescott, this simply isn't enough. In fact, Prescott is asking for close to $40 million per year.
The Cowboys clearly weren't ready to foot that bill and their latest actions demonstrate that. According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Cowboys have officially placed the exclusive franchise tag on Prescott. This means only the Cowboys can sign Prescott at this point which leaves the QB with significantly less leverage during negotiations.
This news shouldn't come as too much of a surprise. Jerry Jones has been known to be ruthless yet fair as an owner and he gave Prescott plenty of opportunities to accept a contract that was worth well over what the QB had accomplished in the league thus far. Regardless, Prescott has now been hit with the franchise tag and we're sure him and his agent aren't too thrilled about it.

Bengals Intend To Franchise Tag AJ Green: Report
The Bengals will franchise tag AJ Green if a long term agreement is not reached by March 10.
The Cincinnati Bengals intend to use the franchise tag option on their star wide receiver A.J. Green, according to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler

Fowler reported the news on his Twitter: "The Bengals currently plan to franchise tag wide receiver A.J. Green, as they want him in Cincinnati in 2020 either through the tag or a longer deal, sources told @DanGrazianoESPN and me. A good selling point for the team's No. 1 pick."
The team is expected to take quarterback Joe Burrow with the first pick in the draft.
The new pending collective bargaining agreement has caused negotiations between the team and Green, as well as Joe Mixon, to reach a standstill. If Green and the Bengals do not reach an agreement on a long-term deal by March 10, the team will use the franchise tag. Green's last deal was for four-year and worth $60 million.
“Give me a long term or just let me go,” Green told the Cincinnati Enquirer regarding the situation. He does not plan on participating in OTAs and possibly not in training camp if he gets hit with the franchise tag.
A franchise tag for the wide receiver position is worth $18,491,000 according to projections from OverTheCap.com.
Rehabbing from an ankle injury, Green did not play in 2019.
Report: Cowboys Expected To Franchise Tag Dak Prescott
Prescott and the Cowboys have reached an impasse.

Both sides are looking for a long-term deal; however, Prescott values himself much higher than the Cowboys do. Prescott has remained confident that the two sides will come to an agreement: “There’s a lot of things that have to come into play when you’re talking about a contract,” Prescott told ESPN’s Sage Steele. “Never just look at the money, never just look at what people see or the attention-grabber. There’s a lot of details to it. There’s people that know that handle that, so I’m leaving that up to my agent and I have all the confidence in both sides.”
The Cowboys finished the season with a mediocre 8-8 record. Prescott, however, was still able to salvage a career year for himself, throwing for 4,902 yards and 30 touchdown passes.
Last season, Cowboys’ running back Ezekiel Elliott faced a similar situation and held out of training camp. He was later rewarded with an eight-year, $103 million extension
Cowboys vice president Stephen Jones has said that signing Prescott to a long-term deal is this team’s top priority.
