DeMarcus Cousins had a ton of promise heading into this NBA season. The Los Angeles Lakers picked him up on a bargain in free agency although unfortunately, he tore his ACL and obliterated his chances of getting on the court this season. Recently, Cousins was released by the Lakers and the team immediately replaced him by signing Markieff Morris. It remains to be seen what Cousins' future in the NBA entails, although the Lakers seem to be content with keeping him around.
Yesterday, it was reported that Cousins may sign with the Lakers next season and now, it appears as though he will be sticking around the Lakers facilities. While speaking to Lakers reporter Mike Trudell, Lakers head coach Frank Vogel admitted that Cousins will be rehabbing with the team and is "part of the family."
With this in mind, Cousins should remain cautiously optimistic about his future. It's clear that he's a great player but injuries have kept him from shining. If he were to play for the Lakers next season, there would be no doubts when it comes to their bility as a championship team, especially if Anthony Davis resigns.
Stay tuned for updates regarding Cousins as we will be sure to bring them to you.
Anthony Davis Recalls How He Found Out About Kobe Bryant’s Passing
Kobe Bryant’s passing was a shock to the entire NBA community.
Kobe Bryant, his daughter Gianna, and seven others passed away in a helicopter accident on January 26th of this year. It was shocking news at the time and even a month later, it still doesn’t feel real. Today, the Staples Center will be holding a public memorial for Kobe and Gianna. This memorial will host thousands of Lakers fans who are hoping to pay their respects for one final time.
For Lakers players, Kobe’s death was not just a shock but also heartbreaking news that has completely changed the course of their season. In a feature with ESPN’s Dave McMenamin, Anthony Davis spoke about the moment the Lakers team flight found out about the tragic accident.
So I remove one of my headphones, and I look,” Davis said. “And Dwight tells me, ‘Man, Kobe died.’ And me thinking as invincible as Kobe Bryant is, I’m like, ‘Kobe who?’ Because I’m like, that’s not — it’s not Kobe Bryant. And he was like, ‘Kobe.’ And I was like, ‘OK. Kobe who? I’m not sure who you’re talking about.’ And he was like, ‘Kobe Bryant.’ And at this time, Bron is still asleep. So I was like, ‘Wait, what? How? Like, I need details, like, tell me.’ And he was like, ‘Man, helicopter crash.’”

Eventually, Lakers players began to wake up and news spread to everyone, including LeBron James. At first, LeBron couldn’t believe what he was being told. His reaction was like many others on the team who were holding out hope that the reports could have been a mistake.
“I remember the first thing Bron said to me was, ‘Man, y’all stop playin’ — like, stop playing with me,’” Davis recalled. “And I’m trying to get on the internet. And Dwight, like, you can see him start crying. He was like, ‘It’s true.’”
Kobe Bryant is perhaps the greatest Lakers player of all-time and his impact still lives on. The Lakers will be looking to win the championship for him and as it stands, they have the whole city of Los Angeles behind them.
Lakers’ HC Frank Vogel Says DeMarcus Cousins Will Return For Playoffs
Lakers’ head coach Frank Vogel expects DeMarcus Cousins to return from his ACL injury in time for the playoffs.
Los Angeles Lakers big-man DeMarcus Cousins is on track to return to the court by the playoffs according to the team’s head coach Frank Vogel.
“He’s on track to get healthy by the playoffs, and we’ll have to see where he’s at with rhythm and conditioning and timing and all that stuff,” Vogel told reporters during NBA All-Star Weekend in Chicago on Saturday according to Bleacher Report. “But there’s a possibility he returns this season, yes.”
After signing a one-year deal with the Lakers last offseason, Cousins injured his ACL in August. The former All-NBA team member averaged 16.3 points and 8.2 rebounds in just 25.7 minutes per game with the Golden State Warriors last season.
With the team already having Anthony Davis, Dwight Howard, and JaVale McGee, Cousins likely wouldn’t see major minutes, possibly even less than what he averaged in Golden State. His addition to the line-up would be an added luxury to a team that needs everything they can get to top the Clippers and make it out of a loaded Western Conference.
The Lakers currently hold a 41-12 record and are leading the Western Conference. A trip to the NBA Finals would be the team’s first since Kobe Bryant led them there in 2010.
