Earlier this year, Terry Crews kicked up some dust following his comments about America's Got Talent. The popular competition series has been at war with former judge Gabrielle Union after she alleges she was fired for reporting instances of unhealthy workplace conditions, racism, and misogyny. She recently filed a formal complaint against NBC and AGT producers, and although Terry Crews apologized to Gabrielle Union back in February, he's addressing her once again.

After Union's allegations against the show became public, Crews, who has hosted the show, sat down for an interview. He was asked about his experiences and shared that contrary to what Union faced, he loved AGT and it was a wonderful work environment. He was accused of being tone-deaf and faced backlash, but he remained firm that he doesn't care about what anyone thinks of his opinions, not even members of his family.
He would later apologize, and now he's returned once again now that the Black Lives Matter and George Floyd protests have him doing a bit of reflection. "The murder of George Floyd has forced me to search my heart to find out what more I can do, as a human being, as a citizen, and more specifically as a Black man, to ensure our community can not only survive but thrive in this new world," he tweeted. "Whites have always had privilege in a society that has systemic racism built in, a fact that has been proven over and over again with the senseless deaths of unarmed Black men and women— with no one being held accountable."
"But I also see that I am privileged as man, in a society that also has sexism built in. This privilege carries over into my community as a Black man in relationship with Black women," Crews continued. "It is in this light I want to make further amends with Black women, and in particular @itsgabrielleu for not recognizing the privilege I have - especially in the workplace- and adding this fact to my earlier apology. If we are to move forward as a people we must do the work required to heal the relationships in our community first. To whom much is given, much is required. I have a huge responsibility —and I vow to honor it."
Gabrielle Union Files Harassment Complaint Against "AGT," Claims She Was "Threatened"
Gabrielle Union is taking her grievances with “AGT” to court, including an accusation that she was “threatened” and told to stop speaking about production.
If you think Gabrielle Union is slowing down with her war against America’s Got Talent, think again. The former judge of the popular competition series has had a bone to pick with production ever since she said she got axed. Gabrielle Union has claimed that after she complained of enduring microaggressions, unhealthy work environments, and racially-insensitive language she was booted, and now the actress is taking her accusations to court.

According to a report made by Deadline, Gabrielle Union has filed a complaint against the show, “Simon Cowell, Universal TV, Syco Entertainment and Fremantle Productions North America.” She’s filed a discrimination and retaliation complaint claiming that she endured “racist and misogynistic conduct” while employed with America’s Got Talent. Documents also state that “NBC Entertainment chairman Paul Telegdy directly intervened in a probe over those claims in an effort to ‘silence and intimidate’ her.”
The court document reads: “On or about February 4, 2020, Telegdy threatened Union through her agent and warned Union’s agent that Union had better cease from pursuing her claims of racism while filming AGT. Union’s agent was shocked that the Chairman of NBC Entertainment was attempting to threaten and intimidate Union. Union’s agent could not recall another instance in his career when a senior executive at a network had threatened and intimidated an employee during an ongoing workplace investigation.”
Gabrielle includes in her complaint that “Cowell’s cavalier smoking indoors, blackface performers, complaints not being properly passed on to HR, ‘racist’ jokes by guest Jay Leno and more” were regular occurrences on set. Telegedy reached out to Deadline and denied all of the allegations against him.
Dwyane Wade Says He & Gabrielle Union Were "Watched" & "Followed" After "AGT" Controversy
Dwyane Wade revealed he and Gabrielle Union were being "watched" and "followed" while she was in the midst of negotiating with NBC about her experience on "AGT."
Gabrielle Union has officially filed a complaint against NBC Universal after they failed to negotiate with her regarding the "toxic" work culture on the set of America's Got Talent, and Dwyane Wade has a lot to say now that he can finally speak on the matter. Gabrielle's negative experiences during her time as a judge on AGT were initially revealed back in November of last year, and after months of attempting to work with the network on how to solve their internal issues, the actress has filed a complaint against NBC Universal, Fremantle, Simon Cowell, and SYCO Entertainment, and will be filing a separate lawsuit against Cowell.
New York Magazine and HuffPost Contributor Yashar Ali initially broke the news on Twitter, after which Gabrielle's hubby, D-Wade, finally went off about how he really feels. He retweeted Yashar's post and directed his message at NBC, letting months of bottled up frustration out and revealing that the negotiating process has been hell for his family. "Y’all have deemed her a liar after months of trying to inform y’all of the issues in the work place and also make sure other employees of color that comes after her won’t have the same experiences," he wrote. "Instead of looking thru the lens of someone who has been an advocate for the black and brown community, for women and for rape victims."
"So instead of making sure your work environment is a a better place for everyone. Y’all have decided that she what? Made it all up because she lost a job?" he continued. "She’s a black women in Hollywood she has lost out on many jobs."
"When these negotiations started my house started being watched and my family started being followed," he revealed. "My daughter couldn’t even go to swim class without us being trailed by people looking for answers. Well y’all have the answers and y’all still don’t wanna listen to them."
Last week, Gabrielle went into greater detail about her experiences while working on America's Got Talent in Variety's cover story.
Zaya Wade Called "Young Man" By Hill Harper, Actor Offers Apology
Zaya Wade turns 13-years-old today, and while sending well-wishes, actor Hill Harper referred to the transitioning teen as a "young man."
Zaya Wade is officially a teenager as she celebrates her 13th birthday. Father Dwyane Wade and stepmom Gabrielle Union are proud parents of the teen and they expressed their love with heartfelt, lengthy social media posts dedicated to Zaya. For months, the Wade family has been met with criticism because of their acceptance of Zaya transitioning from male to female at such a young age, but it hasn't deterred the family from being a supportive unit. Actor Hill Harper chimed in to wish Zaya a happy birthday, but in his message, he referred to Zaya as a boy and was quickly met with backlash.
"Happy Birthday young man!! Read 'Letters to a Young Brother'!!! Your mom wrote something in it!! You'll love it! Have a great day!!" Harper commented. It didn't take long for the public to let Harper know that Zaya Wade now identifies as a girl, and he was quick to respond. "I would like to apologize for my post. I am responsible for what gets posted and I made a horrible error. I misgendered my friend’s child and I am so sorry to Zaya and the entire Wade family. It was not my intention to misgender and misrepresent her in any way. I celebrate Zaya," Hill Harper tweeted. "As a family friend I feel so bad that I may have taken away from the celebration. Zaya’s courage and strength is something I celebrate. And there was absolutely no malicious intent to my post."
"I am human and I am learning and often trying to do too many things which leads to mistakes like this one. I am sorry," Harper continued. "I’m sorry to those my post offended, that was certainly not my intention." He went to reiterate his apology once again, adding that during these times, the last thing he wanted to do was to become a "negative distraction." Gabrielle Union Addresses Former "AGT" Co-Star Julianne Hough Doing Blackface
Gabrielle Union recently opened up about her dreadful “America’s Got Talent” days and addressed her former fellow judge’s backface scandal in 2013.
Following past claims of racism and toxicity on the set of America’s Got Talent, Gabrielle Union is dishing on all things AGT, including her former co-judge’s use of blackface back in 2013. Late last year, it was reported that Gabrielle had been fired from the talent competition show after reporting a racist and inappropriate joke told by Jay Leno on the set. Gabrielle later came forward about her experience as a judge on the show, detailing the “toxic work environment” on set. However, it was later revealed that NBC would be conducting an internal investigation into the claims made about the show. As the investigation is ongoing, Gabrielle isn’t at liberty to discuss many details, but she did open up to Variety about a few of her negative experiences, and even commented on then-fellow judge Julianne Hough getting hired even after doing blackface as recently as 2013.

While recalling some of the more distressing situations during her time at AGT, Gabrielle described an instance in which a white contestant wore black gloves to portray a black performer. “I’m a part of a show that hired one of my co-workers who had an unfortunate incident doing blackface,” she said, referring to Julianne dressing up as Suzanne “Crazy Eyes” Warren—a character played by black actress Uzo Aduba on Orange Is The New Black—for Halloween in 2013. “I’d like to trust her at her word that she learned her lesson, and has educated herself amid the consequences she faced and is hopefully a better person. But you would think that perhaps the show and NBC might be more conscientious in exposing that, and it would be taken seriously. I took it seriously.” Read the full interview with Variety here.
Gabrielle Union Speaks On "Toxic" Work Environment At "America’s Got Talent"
Gabrielle Union has been vocal about her experience while working at “America’s Got Talent,” previously claiming that she was edged out becuase
The relationship between Gabrielle Union and America’s Got Talent was one that quickly turned sour. She was brought on as a judge, but according to Union, the work environment not only became physically unhealthy for her as she said she endured Simon Cowell’s perpetual indoor smoking, but it was an emotionally damaging experience, as well. The 40-year-old actress has shared stages and sets with thousands of other entertainment industry professionals in her 25-year career, but she recently shared with Variety why America’s Got Talent was one of the most toxic.

On her first day on the AGT set, Union, who claims she’s allergic to cigarette smoke, complained of Cowell’s habit to production. She said it was like “coming onto a set and you are literally met with the very definition of a toxic work environment, and it’s being carried out by the most powerful person on the production.” There were allegations of racially inappropriate remarks, including Jay Leno reportedly making a remark about Cowell’s dogs being like the food at a Korean restaurant. Howie Mandel, who is a self-professed germaphobe, couldn’t handle sitting next to Union whose nose was constantly running due to allergies.
“I signed up for the experience of being a part of a show that hails itself as the biggest stage in the world. Super diverse, and one about giving people an opportunity to shine where they otherwise probably wouldn’t,” Union says, adding, “What could go wrong?” The actress says she hopes that changes have been implemented so that the future of their work environment is more “inclusive.”

Dwyane Wade & Gabrielle Union’s Daughter Hilariously Fails Viral Snack Challenge
Dwyane Wade and Gabrielle Union’s youngest daughter, 18-month-old Kaa, did not even attempt to follow the rules of a new viral snack challenge.
Some babies just do not have time to mess around, and nothing could be more true about Dwyane Wade and Gabrielle Union’s 18-month-old daughter, Kaa. The toddler was practically born with an expression on her face indicating that she’s permanently “over it” already, a look that has delighted the Internet ever since she was introduced to the world last November. Kaa is equal parts adorable and hilarious on any given day, but when she recently participated in a viral snack challenge with her mom, Gabrielle Union, she had everyone in tears from laughing so hard.

Recently, parents all over the world have been testing their toddlers’ patience by seeing if they can manage to restrain themselves from eating their favourite snack food until mommy or daddy comes back. While some kids listened and waited until their parent had returned before eating the snack, others, unaware that they are being filmed, have been digging right in once their parent is out of sight.

A few celebrities have taken part in the challenge, and while some famous babies, like Kylie Jenner and Travis Scott‘s daughter, Stormi, succeeded, others, like Kaa, couldn’t be bothered to participate in some silly game. In the clip shared by the one-and-a-half-year-old’s own IG account on Wednesday (May 13th), Gabrielle instructs her daughter not to eat her snack until she comes back. However, Kaa immediately runs toward the bowl and grabs a handful, ultimately failing the challenge but making for hilarious results. “Yall knew those snacks didn’t stand a chance,” the caption of the post read. “Why yall keep trying me?!?” Check out the full clip below:
Gabrielle Union Thinks It’s "Odd" To Receive Praise For Supporting Zaya Wade
Gabrielle Union believes all parents should support their children, so she finds it odd that she and Dwyane Wade have received recognition for encouraging Zaya Wade through her transition.
Ever since they shared that Zaya Wade was transitioning from male to female at 12-years-old, parents Dwyane Wade and Gabrielle Union have faced backlash. They’ve been criticized for supporting Zaya during this time, but the LGBTQIA+ community have stood by their side. Dwyane and Gabrielle have been applauded for how they’ve accepted Zaya, and during a recent chat with Ellen DeGeneres, the actress talked about how it’s strange for her to be praised for something she says parents should do, anyway.

“To us, it’s a little odd to get any kind of recognition for doing what you’re supposed to do, which is love, and accept, and embrace your kids,” Gabrielle Union said. “So it’s odd to get recognition for that. Unfortunately, there are so many people who just don’t.” She added, “[There are] so many people who really truly feel like their kids are disposable. If they’re not perfect images of them, they’re not interested. And it’s heartbreaking. So we’re just doing what is natural to us, and loving her.”
Later, in another interview, Gabrielle gave advice to parents raising an LGBTQIA+ child. “Love your child, listen to your child, accept your child,” she answered. “Reject the notion that your children are disposable if they are not little mini versions of you and that creating more of you isn’t in every kind of way, isn’t the solution to keeping them safe or paving the way for a happy life.” Watch a clip of the actress dishing out advice to LGBTQIA+ parents below.
Dwyane Wade Makes Gabrielle Union Watch His Old NBA Games In Quarantine
Gabrielle Union told Jimmy Fallon during a virtual interview that her husband Dwyane Wade makes her watch his old NBA games in quarantine.
It looks like the combination of his recent retirement and quarantine has Dwyane Wade feeling nostalgic. The former NBA player’s wife, Gabrielle Union, recently sat down for a virtual interview with The Tonight Show host, Jimmy Fallon. During their video chat, they each shared what they’ve been up to since going into isolation, and while Jimmy’s been pretty busy with his regular hosting duties, Gabrielle has had a little more free time than usual. She revealed that she’s been recording some workouts for a free fitness app, and that her former pro athlete hubby has been training her from home. Not only that, but he’s also been making her watch his NBA games from back in the good old days.

When Jimmy asks Gabrielle how Dwyane is coping with having no sports to watch on TV, she reveals that he’s been keeping himself entertained by watching Michael Jordan‘s docuseries, The Last Dance, on Netflix, as well as his own games. “Like he doesn’t know how they end?” she jokes. “We watched the ’06 finals, and obviously I’ve seen it over the years, but never with him, you know? Like he’s live tweeting this game, and he’s like, ‘Oh, good move, D-Wade.'”

“But then I started watching it like I didn’t know how it ended,” she confesses. “And he missed these two free-throws at the end of the game and like, I didn’t want to talk to him for the rest of the night.” Watch her full interview with Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show below:
