Unfortunately, most of the time you hear about sneaker deals in the news, they end in tragedy as an opportunistic person takes advantage of those selling the shoes. However, a story went viral on social media recently that will certainly warm your heart. A San Bernardino man by the name of Connor McBride was looking to sell his Air Jordan 13 "Flint's" that he acquired over the weekend.
As the story goes, a man by the name of Gustavo hit him up on social media asking if the shoes were still available. Instead of offering money, Gustavo asked McBride if he would take a female German Shepherd puppy instead. Gustavo seemingly had a whole litter he was trying to find homes for, and McBride accepted. Eventually, McBride posted the whole interaction on Twitter, and people immediately fell in love with both the story and the puppy.
For those wondering, McBride named his new best friend "Flint" which makes the story that much more adorable. If you're McBride, this trade is especially good as a new German Shepherd puppy could cost you up to $1000 USD. In the end, Gustavo found a loving home for one of his pups, he got his shoes, and McBride has a cute new companion.
Sometimes, the world does, in fact, produce good news.
Another Dog Has Tested Positive For Coronavirus
A second dog has tested positive for coronavirus in Hong Kong, furthering confusion surrounding animals’ ability to spread the virus.
The second case of a dog testing positive for coronavirus has occurred once again in Hong Kong, causing further confusion over whether or not animals are able to spread the virus to humans. According to South China Morning Post, oral and nasal swabs from a two-year-old German shepherd in Pok Fu Lam, Hong Kong confirmed that the dog has in fact tested positive for COVID-19. The puppy, whose owner had previously tested positive for the virus, was placed in quarantine at a government facility earlier this week, along with another dog from the owner’s residence. Thus far, the other dog is not currently infected with coronavirus.

“We will also follow up on the mixed-breed dog, but it has tested negative.” said Professor Malik Peiris of University of Hong Kong, who added that the plan now is to conduct blood tests. A 17-year-old Pomeranian was the first dog to reported to have tested “weak positive” for COVID-19. The dog later died after upon its release from quarantine, but it was widely believed that the dog’s age and “underlying illnesses” were the primary factors, rather than the virus.
“It is very likely that the two positive cases [in Hong Kong] are examples of human-to-dog transmission,” Professor Peiris, who is also a public health virologist at the university, noted. These cases have furthered confusion regarding animals and specifically pets in regards to the global pandemic. The CDC has recommended, however, that, “if you are sick with COVID-19 (either suspected or confirmed), you should restrict contact with pets and other animals, just like you would around other people.” While they have no evidence to suggest that pets are able to spread COVID-19, it is better to be safe than sorry.
A Puppy Born With Green Fur Named Hulk Has The Internet Going Crazy
Looking like the cutest little tennis ball.
A North Carolina family was positively perplexed last Friday, when they discovered something rather unusual about one of their newborn puppies. Their white German shepherd, Gypsy, gave birth to eight pups total, but the fourth one stood out a little from the rest.
"I started freaking out because it was green," Shana Stamey told local outlet WIS News 10 about the little guy, whose name is, fittingly, Hulk. "He was lime green and super mad, so yeah, he became Hulk," she said. Other than this odd colouring, all eight puppies came out totally healthy. Despite Hulk's clean bill of health, his fur colour defect is, however, the result of something a little gross. According to Suzanne Cianiciulli, a veterinarian technician at Junaluska Animal Hospital, the lime green colour comes from meconium, which is an infant mammal’s earliest stool. "The sack that they’re in when they’re in their mom, there can be meconium in there, and that tends to stain them,” she revealed. The poop stain will eventually fade away until it's gone for good, as Hulk's doggy mom licks him and he gets bathed by his human family. Of course, the crazy story had Twitter going nuts over the adorable little tennis ball pup.
