With the release of ESPN's Michael Jordan documentary "The Last Dance," the neverending NBA GOAT debate is in full swing. The two players that are typically at the center of these debates are none other than MJ and LeBron James. Sometimes, Kobe Bryant and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar are brought up as well but certainly not as often. In fact, every single sports personality is being asked who they think the GOAT is and on Friday, Shaq answered the question.
During his appearance on Get Up!, Shaq stated that he thinks Jordan is the undisputed GOAT although he hints that he would love to say himself. Of course, Shaq notes that being crowned as the GOAT is something that your peers should do for you.
"[Michael Jordan] is definitely the greatest player. ... You can't say 'I'm the greatest player,' you have to let your peers and everyone else say who the greatest player is," Shaq said humbly. Throughout the 90s, Shaq had to go up against MJ and he quickly found out just how good the Bulls legend really is. All things considered, it's easy to see why MJ was such an easy choice for him.
Let us know in the comments below who you think the GOAT is.
Stephen A. Smith Reveals His Pick For NBA MVP
Stephen A. Smith recently had to decide between LeBron James and Giannis Antetokounmpo
LeBron James and Giannis Antetokounmpo have been two of the best players in the entire NBA this season. The Los Angeles Lakers and Milwaukee Bucks are the two best teams in the league and these superstars are a huge part of the reason why. For the majority of the season, it was believed that Giannis was the true MVP of the league. This past weekend, that all changed as LeBron was able to dismantle the Bucks and the Los Angeles Clippers. With this in mind, many are saying that LeBron is now the rightful MVP.
During a recent appearance on Get Up!, the always delightful Stephen A. Smith was asked who he would pick for MVP if the season were the end today. Not surprisingly, Smith agreed that Giannis still deserves to be the MVP as his body of work throughout the season has been slightly more impressive. To be fair, he followed this up by saying that if Giannis doesn't keep playing well, LeBron could easily steal the MVP trophy from him
If LeBron were to win league MVP at 35 years old, fans who are still on the fence will have to give him his respect. There are very few players who can do this well in year 17 and it just so happens that LeBron is one of them. As for Giannis, he still has plenty of seasons left in his prime and we can't wait to witness all of them.
Baker Mayfield Squashes Beef With Rex Ryan, Plans To Stop Replying To Critics
Mayfield is done responding to haters.
Baker Mayfield appeared on ESPN's Get Up on Friday morning with former NFL head coach Rex Ryan to discuss his handling of critics and squash his beef with Ryan.
"It comes back on ... doing my job the best I can, not worrying about the outside stuff, not replying to you. Just doing my job and doing what really matters, being a quarterback," he said.
Mayfield's relationship with critics throughout the season has been tumultuous. Multiple times throughout the season he reacted poorly to negative feedback. In response to Ryan calling him "overrated" after week 3, Mayfield responded, "If you don't wear orange and brown, you don't matter, and Rex Ryan doesn't have any colors right now for a reason."
Mayfield and the Browns struggled throughout the year, finishing with a 6-10 record, something Mayfield describes as a "humbling experience." He threw for 22 touchdowns and 21 interceptions, which ranks last in touchdown to interception ratio.
"Let's just be honest, I put my foot in my mouth a lot this past year," Mayfield said. "I'm going to internalize that."
Mayfield went on to explain that the focus needs to shift to winning games rather than arguing with the media: "That's what the focus needs to be about, what can I do to help this team win. ... What can I do to make our franchise better, head in the right direction, do the things of why I was picked in that spot [No. 1 overall] and make it happen."
