Despite how crazy things have been, music has kept us sane for the last few weeks. We've got vibes for every mood. When things get tough, Lil Uzi Vert's Eternal Atake will bring us right back up. If we're just trying to vibe, we've got new albums from The Weeknd and PARTYNEXTDOOR. If we want to pretend as though we're still running the streets, we've got 42 Dugg, Conway, and Blacc Zacc to keep us entertained. The great thing about music is that there is no expiry date. Each week, there's something new for us to consume, which is why we compile our favorites in a concise manner for you to enjoy the TIDAL Wave playlist.
Every week, we go through each new release as a staff, picking out the gems and leaving the dirt behind. This time around, The Weeknd has remained in steady rotation, keeping his spot on the playlist as the artist with the highest number of entries. Elsewhere, we've included new cuts from PARTYNEXTDOOR, Conway, 42 Dugg, Wiz Khalifa, and, of course, that new joint from NAV, Gunna, and Travis Scott.
If you're not yet signed up with TIDAL, try it out with a free 30-day trial here. Let us know whose list is your favorite!

The Weeknd & Jacquees Smoothly Slide Into Our "R&B Season" Playlist
Vibe out to our R&B-focused playlist on Spotify.
A few months back, we started our R&B-centric Spotify playlist, “R&B Season”. HNHH curates a bunch of playlists on various streaming platforms, but they are predominantly focused on hip hop. While it may appear that our expertise lies in hip hop, we are great admirers of R&B. As the border between these two genres becomes increasingly porous, it’s hard to be a fan of one without being a fan of the other. However, the distinction remains important when deciding what vibe you’re going for when you turn to your preferred medium of music consumption. R&B tends to be catered for your more mellow moments and there should be a place for you to comfortably retreat into to enjoy those sounds. That’s why we’ve been putting love and care into building up our “R&B Season” playlist.
The past two weeks of music releases have treated our playlist very well. Summer Walker, Brent Faiyaz, A Boogie wit da Hoodie and Snoh Aalegra all came through with huge contributions. This week is no exception. The Weeknd and Jacquees got us feeling blissful.
While you may initially be surprised to see G Herbo‘s name tucked into our playlist, you will then notice that Jacquees supplied Herbo’s new single with the R&B twist that allowed it to qualify for submission. “Shooter” is the second teaser of the Chicago rapper’s upcoming album, PTSD. Given its drastically different tone from the lead single, “In This Bitch”, we see that Herbo will be giving us a varied compilation. Jacquees, the self-proclaimed King of R&B, laces the song with an addictive chorus and the beat’s reverberating bass washes over you. Perfect for “R&B SEASON.”
Lots of new developments on The Weeknd front this week. After finally learning the title of his next album, we were gifted with the third single off After Hours, which also happens to be its title track. While it may not foster the most mellow mood, The Weeknd is an R&B staple that deserves love on our playlist. The first half of the song is quite upbeat, but once the dancing energy subsides, you are left with a brooding outro reminiscent of Abel’s earlier music. In that sense, it does fit the vibe we’re trying to curate here.

NBA YoungBoy & Calboy Came Through With Heat For "Fire Emoji" This Week
HNHH’s “FIRE EMOJI” playlist has you covered with the best releases of the week.
This week’s hip hop releases were ruled by the new school. After sporadically dropping a string of music videos for its singles, YoungBoy Never Broke Again delivered his new album, Still Flexin Still Steppin, on Friday. The Louisiana rapper continues to prove that he’s committed to overworking everyone else in the game. Despite his career being hampered by legal troubles, he claws forward with frequent releases that evidence his hunger. Our early favourite from the new project is “Bat Man”, earning it a spot on our Spotify playlist “FIRE EMOJI” this week.
Another young cat that came through with heat on Friday is Lil Gotit. The Alamo Records signee and YSL affiliate shared a mixtape executive produced by London On Da Track and entitled Superstar Creature. Lil Gotit, who is also the brother of burgeoning star Lil Keed, has undeniably been in his bag. He dropped two solo projects last year, Crazy But It’s True and The Real, as well as a joint EP with producer 10fifty. The fact that he teamed up with one of the hottest trap producers for Superstar Creature is nothing short of a blessing. He spazzes all over London’s beats, especially on “Bet Up” and “No Worries.”

Calboy is another 20-year-old artist who we’ve had our sights set on and his new EP proves again that he’s deserving of our attention. Long Live The Kings boasts features from G Herbo, Lil Baby and Lil Tjay, so you already know we had to put one of those exhilarating collaborations on “FIRE EMOJI.” “Givenchy Kickin” made the cut.
Last but certainly not least, we pay tribute to Pop Smoke, who we tragically lost on Wednesday. It may sting to listen to an artist’s music shortly after their passing, but Pop Smoke’s makes you feel “Invincible.” Let his voice rumble and roar through speakers this weekend and forever.

A Boogie wit da Hoodie & Snoh Aalegra Got Our "R&B Season" Playlist Sounding Heavenly
Ease into our R&B-centric Spotify playlist.
Since Valentine’s Day coincided with New Music Friday this year, some R&B artists took the opportunity share songs focused on their favourite lyrical theme: love. Snoh Aalegra is the queen of giving us ~those feels~, so we were grateful that she came through with a V-Day offering. It may not have been a brand new track, but it was something equally exciting – a Pharrell remix. Romantic P hopped on “Woah” from Aalegra’s 2019 sophomore album, – Ugh, those feels again. It’s always a cause for celebration when we get to hear Pharrell’s unconventional approach to rap.
A Boogie wit da Hoodie is one of those artists who is incredibly skilled at fusing together trap and R&B. He oscillates between these musical inclinations, as exhibited on his new collaboration with Summer Walker, “Calm Down (Bittersweet)”. The track marks one of the more mellow moments on A Boogie’s new album, Artist 2.0. Anything Summer Walker does is sure to secure a spot on our playlist.
We have no rules against including throwbacks on “R&B Season” and since Valentine’s Day had us reflecting on Kendrick Lamar’s tender 2017 track, “LOVE”, we decided to add to the queue. Grimes also dropped “Delete Forever”, the most gentle single yet from her forthcoming album that we felt fit the vibe of “R&B Season”. The same argument applies to Billie Eilish highly-awaited Bond theme, “No Time To Die”. Enjoy!

A Boogie wit da Hoodie, NBA Youngboy & More Slide Into Our "Fire Emoji" Playlist
“FIRE EMOJI” has you covered with the best releases of the week.
While Valentine’s Day coincided with New Music Friday this year, this week’s releases weren’t particularly lovey. There were a few exceptions though. Everyone’s favourite on-and-off couple, Kehlani and YG, surprised us with their first collaboration, “Konclusions”, confirming that they are on at the moment. If you wanted a somewhat sappy anthem this V-Day, whether you’re single or not, they had you covered. We also selected a romantic cut from Justin Bieber‘s new album, Changes, for our “FIRE EMOJI” playlist on Spotify. On “Forever”, Biebs, Post Malone and Clever commit to being in their relationships for the long-run.
While the first verse of “Thug Love” may start out with A Boogie wit da Hoodie asserting that “this ain’t no fucking love song”, the rest of his lyrics suggest otherwise. It may be a tad too raunchy to qualify as a traditional love song, but the affectionate sentiment is there regardless. So I guess you could say we did end up with celebrating Valentine’s Day with our playlist additions. We’re always trying to spread love. On top that, “Thug Love” allowed us to get some representation from A Boogie’s new album, Artist 2.0.
This week also blessed us with new tracks from the freshmen class of melodic rappers. Two of its members, Calboy and Lil Tjay, teamed up for “Barbarian”. Another skilled crooner Polo G hosted some other young talents on “Go Stupid”, which called upon NLE Choppa and Stunna 4 Vegas to drop verses on the Mike WiLL Made-It/Tay Keith-produced beat. YoungBoy Never Broke Again could also be discussed in this category. With Still Flexin Still Steppin set to drop next week, YoungBoy delivered two singles in advance to get us ready. “Knocked Off” made it onto our playlist.

Summer Walker & Brent Faiyaz Satisfy Our "R&B Season" Needs With New Releases
Ease into our R&B-centric Spotify playlist.
A few months back, we started our R&B-centric Spotify playlist, “R&B Season”. HNHH curates a bunch of playlists on various streaming platforms, but they are predominantly focused on hip hop. That’s why we’ve been putting love and care into building up our “R&B Season” playlist.
Our job was made easy this week because a lot of stellar R&B artists came through with new tunes for us to add onto our playlist. Brent Faiyaz returned with F**k The World, his first LP since 2017’s Sonder Son. His velvety vocals match the vibe of our “R&B SEASON” so well that we couldn’t help but selecting two cuts from his new record: “Bluffin” and “Been Away”. Once you hear these, you’ll definitely feel compelled to check out the rest of F**k The World.
Although Summer Walker dropped her debut album, Over It, not too long ago and provided us with eighteen silky tracks to keep in rotation, she’s keeping the music coming. Probably because people can’t get enough of her. Her buzz is evidenced by the fact that she was recruited to contribute an original song to the soundtrack for the new Harley Quinn movie, Birds Of Prey. Summer’s rendition of Barry White’s “I’m Gonna Love You Just A Little More” shows her singing over jazzier production than ever before and it makes for a lovely fit.

Nicki Minaj, Pop Smoke & Denzel Curry Heat Up Our "Fire Emoji" Playlist
“FIRE EMOJI” has you covered with the best releases of the week.
Last week, in the realm of hip hop releases, we were able to dedicate most of our focus to Lil Wayne‘s album, Funeral, as it was a week otherwise filled with new singles. This week, that is not the case. We got blessed with a bunch of great projects and we’re thrilled to add some of their hottest cuts to our Spotify playlist, “FIRE EMOJI”.
Pop Smoke is one of the most buzzing rappers in the game right now, so it was an ideal time for him to follow last July’s Meet The Woo EP with a full-length sequel. Meet The Woo 2 boasts thirteen tracks and a bunch of features. Pop Smoke enlisted fellow up-and-comers like Fivio Foreign and Lil Tjay for earthquake-inducing bangers, but he also collaborates with heavy-hitter Quavo to “Shake The Room”. The beat was too crazy on that one to not include it in our playlist.

While we knew Meet The Woo 2 was coming, Denzel Curry and Kenny Beats caught us by surprise on Friday with their collaborative project, UNLOCKED. The rapturous tracks came accompanied by an animated short film that you must see and may have raised the bar for creative rollouts in 2020. Kenny Beats, whose producer tag is ubiquitous these days, furnishes the Miami rapper with ferocious beats that match his uncontainable energy. “DIET_” is a perfect example that these two pair perfectly.
Last but not least, we have a single for you. Not just any single, but a Nicki Minaj single. The queen herself came out of semi-retirement this week to drop off “Yikes”, a song title that is fitting given the scandalous week she had, but we’re not gonna get into that now. This is about “Yikes”, a searing assertion that Onika cannot be played with. God bless The Barbz for bullying her into completing and releasing the track this week.

Summer Walker, H.E.R & 6LACK Bless Our "R&B Season" Playlist With New Tunes

2020 is off to a good start in terms of R&B. H.E.R.’s electrifying Grammys performance of a new song, “Sometimes”, was followed by its official release on streaming services. She’s one of our favourites voices in R&B at the moment, so we were quick to add that to our playlist. Another woman breathing new life into the genre is Summer Walker, who earned herself a growing fanbase with her debut album, Over It. This week, she hopped on the remix of Trevor Daniels’ “Falling”, which has enjoyed TikTok virality. Expect to see Walker’s remix of Justin Bieber‘s “Yummy” appear on “R&B Season” after it drops on Monday. Another remix we’re loving is Kaash Paige’s “Love Songs”, which just got a verse added courtesy of 6LACK.
