The Verzuz battles have brought legends together to celebrate their contributions to the game. Erykah Badu and Jill Scott. Nelly vs. Ludacris. And of course, we can't forget the legendary Teddy Riley and Babyface battle. But last night brought the Verzuz battle to international waters when Bounty Killer and Beenie Man went head-to-head. It was one for the books, as well. Instead of going on IG Live and playing their records, they kept it straight dancehall, performing their songs in the same building with a DJ backing them.
View this post on InstagramUnfortunately, with social distancing measures in place, the police attempted to break up the battle but Beenie Man handled it like a true Don. "Can we not do this right now?" Beenie asked the cop who was off-screen. "There are 500,000 people watching us right now from all over the world. Do you want to be that guy?" He continued. "People. The police are here. But we are not stopping because before COVID-19, it was murderers killing people. It was people killing people then COVID-19 start killing people."
Eventually, the police did leave and Beenie Man added, "The police are gone. We got rid of them. We are Jamaicans. We are being nice. We are being good. We are nice people, Don’t make me stop the fight! So people, let’s do this!”

Vybz Kartel Scores Small Win In Appeals Court
Vybz Kartel gets a few years knocked off before becoming eligible for parole.
Many have called for Vybz Kartel‘s freedom over the years but that has not been enough for the dancehall legend’s release from prison. He was sentenced to life in prison for his role in the murder of Clive “Lizard” Williams. Though he’s made numerous attempts to appeal the sentence, he was recently denied his bid at the beginning of April. However, he did receive a bit of good news a few weeks later.
Scott Gries/Getty ImagesThe Jamaican Observer reports that Vybz Kartel scored a win in court this week when it was determined that he would be eligible for parole earlier than expected. Though it won’t be any time soon, it was ruled that he would be eligible for parole in 32 years and six months instead of 35 years.
“The trial judge fell in error by not taking into account the time spent in reprimand, which is a breach of principle. So, I am pleased that the court has decided to reduce the sentences by two-and-a-half years,” Bert Samuels, attorney for Vybz Kartel’s co-defendant Shawn Storm said.
Despite the good news, it still means that the dancehall legend, who turned 44-years-old behind bars, will be released in 2046 when he is 70-years-old.
Even though Vybz is behind bars, he’s blessed us with a ton of music. Earlier this year, he released his latest album, To Tanisha.
Drake & Popcaan Have New Collaboration In The Works
Drake and Popcaan prepare for a Coronavirus-free summer with some new heat.
Popcaan made his official OVO debut in December with Vanquish. Surprisingly, there was no Drake feature on the project but that doesn't mean they don't have a few songs in the cut. We heard the "Controlla" leak which, let's be real, should've made the final cut of Views but we haven't heard anything from the two of them as of recently. Thankfully, that could change very soon.
Even though the summer is uncertain, it looks like Popcaan and Drake are getting ready to have the summer on lock. Tapping in with each other on Instagram Live, the two artists promised to send each other new music to collaborate on, even though they can't physically lock into the studio together. "Yo, alright, watch. I'mma make a tune tonight. I'mma fawad it," Drake promised before Popcaan stated that he too would make a song and send it back to Drake.
Drake did compliment another song that Popcaan sent over to him prior. Perhaps that might be something that Drake ends up on, maybe for his own album. He did recently confirm that he was in the studio working on a new project, though he hasn't shared many details about it. It seems like there's a good chance he waits until the Coronavirus pandemic to die down before he does that, though.

“Life long leaders are life long learners,” she wrote. “Still Learning how to be a better woman, learning how to love, learning how to run my business, learning to be a better leader, learning to be a better public speaker, learning how to do my makeup and other girly things, learning to have patience (might be impossible tho), learning how to be a better person, sister, daughter, friend & the best mother possible.” She also tagged Womanaire, a club that aims to “help women gain confidence through inspiration, motivation & conversation.”
Milan later shared another photo of herself on her Jamaican getaway, but this time in a long, floral dress. “Beautiful things happen when you distance yourself from negativity,” she wrote in the caption, before asking her followers an important question about when the big day comes. “Did any of my followers have a natural birth at a birthing center or at home?” she asked “I watched the documentary ‘The Business of Being Born’ and it got me reconsidering hospital.”

Milan announced her pregnancy back in December at one of her fashion shows, though she and Meek didn’t confirm that he was the father until much later. The two of them seem very happy in their relationship, and we can’t wait until their little bundle of joy arrives!

We want to go back too.
When Lori Harvey held her 23rd birthday celebrations in Jamaica she was accompanied by her boyfriend Future and some of her closest friends. One of the many names on the guestlist was Teyana Taylor as well as her husband Iman Shumpert. The break from reality proved to be a relaxing trip for the couple and Iman even shared a sweet poem he penned for his wife while soaking up the Irie vibes of the island. “May each morning’s sun kiss you as I do when your eyes are closed. To start your day with a pure energy and more light….fore your imperfections truly make you perfect in the eyes of he who bent the knee,” he wrote.
Marcus Ingram/Getty ImagesWhile it’s clear that Teyana and Iman are back to reality in Los Angeles, Teyana’s still reminiscing about Jamaica and we can’t blame. The singer shared a series of hot bikini photos to Instagram with a caption that reads, “Take me back to Jamroc ???? oh how I miss ya ?”
In other Teyana updates, she said before the holidays that an album would arrive in December. When the selected date arrived, we got the single “We Got Love” instead of a full project. Let’s hope this means that a full tape offering is arriving sooner than later.
Jordyn Woods Shows Off Her Assets On IG Before Linking Up With Megan Thee Stallion
Never shy to show what she’s working with.
Heir Jordyn is back on Instagram showing off the goods. The 22-year-old social media star is fresh off of her Jamaica vacation, a trip where she linked up with a few of her bikini-clad besties to celebrate Lori Harvey’s 23rd birthday in a luxury villa. Upon returning home, Jordyn Woods was an Associated Student Program Board guest speaker at the University of California Riverside.
Tommaso Boddi / Stringer / Getty Images“Who are we to judge someone else and their life and what they’re going through?” she shared with the audience in an Instagram Story clip. “You don’t even know them? We don’t know what they did, how they got there.” Elsewhere she said, “Just let the people talk, and when they have something to say that’s actually meaningful and valid to you then you speak and you move on, but a lot of people talk way too much.”
Just a few hours ago, Jordyn shared photos of herself in a skintight dress as she showed off her backside, and it looks like she was getting herself all dressed up because she was meeting good friend Megan Thee Stallion. Over on the Fever rapper’s Instagram Story, Megan shows that she and Jordyn were kicking it at her home before a girl’s night out. Check out a few highlights below.
Lori Harvey’s Still Showing Off Her Best Black Girl Magic Moments From Jamaica
We don’t blame her.
Lori Harvey celebrated her 23rd birthday in Jamaica by renting out a gorgeous mansion that was filled with her close friends, family and boyfriend Future. The trip was quite literally a movie (that’s arriving soon) and as we expected, the guest list – that included Winnie Harlow, Teyana Taylor, Iman Shumpert, Jordyn Woods and more – provided endless content of hot snaps, videos and sweet moments that were enjoyed in the gorgeous tropical land.
Araya Diaz/Getty ImagesLori is now back home in Los Angeles and as we posted just yesterday she’s pleaded not guilty in her hit and run case from October. The model faces up to one year in jail if convicted but all her worries that stem from the case can easily be fixed when looking at photos from her vacation. Lori recently uploaded new images from Jamaica to her Instagram that sees her, Normani, Ryan Destiny, Jordyn Woods and other homies posing fiercely in their bikinis. “Brown Skin Girls ?” she captioned an image.
Future clearly played a major role in organizing Lori’s birthday festivities just days after the couple made their romance official onInstagram. “You really outdid yourself, thank you ❤️@future,” Lori wrote at the time.

While many folks have likely not stopped thinking about this “lil Birthday Trailer” ever since it dropped, Lori made sure to remind us that the full production will soon be in our possession with her most recent birthday trip photo.
“Y’all ready for the movie yet?” Lori asked her 1.9 million Instagram followers on a photo of herself accompanied by Jordyn, Taina, and their friend, Amaya Colon showing off their insane bikini bods. She was met with plenty of positive affirmations, so hopefully she’ll be releasing this documentation of their lit trip ASAP. Based on the trailer, Lori’s new bae Future will be featured heavily in the movie. The “Life Is Good” rapper recently expressed how thankful he is for Lori (and her beautiful figure), and it’s safe to say these two cannot get enough of each other.
