When Tom Brady retires, he will most likely go down as the greatest football player ever. His numerous records and six Super Bowl championships make him an easy contender for the honor. This year he has found himself in a peculiar situation. For the first time in his career, he is a free agent. There is a real possibility that Brady could end up with a team not named the New England Patriots. If this were to happen, the league would be changed in a very significant way.
Over the past week or so, there have been theories that Brady could actually sign with the San Francisco 49ers. During this morning's episode of Get Up!, Dianna Russini shot down the 49ers rumors and claimed that the team is actually looking at another quarterback. It just so happens that QB is Kirk Cousins.
Cousins has ties to 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan so the move would make sense. For now, these are just rumors although it seems like the theory has quite a bit of merit. Jimmy Garoppolo disappeared in the Super Bowl and Shanahan will most likely be looking to improve his personnel if Jimmy G sees a bit of a regression.
Let us know in the comments below what you think the 49ers should do.
49ers George Kittle Backs Jimmy G Amid Tom Brady Rumors
San Francisco 49ers' All Pro tight end George Kittle shows love to QB Jimmy Garoppolo amid recent Tom Brady rumors.
The San Francisco 49ers have reportedly emerged as an unexpected, possible destination for soon-to-be free agent quarterback Tom Brady. According to NBC Sports' Tom Curran, San Francisco's interest in Brady is "real" although it appears as though some 49ers players are content to stick with their 28-year old signal caller, Jimmy Garoppolo.
In response to the recent Brady rumors, Niners' All-Pro tight end George Kittle took to instagram to show support for his quarterback by simply captioning a celebratory photo of him and Garoppolo, "Let's run it back 10!"
Despite Curran's claim that the Niners will make a play for Brady once he officially becomes a free agent later this month, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport says he has "not been able to substantiate any interest from the 49ers' standpoint." Furthermore, Rapoport notes that the 49ers, like Kittle, are more than happy to move forward with Jimmy G as their starting QB.
Last season, Garoppolo completed 69.1% of his passes for 3,978 yards, 27 touchdowns and 13 interceptions. Brady, who will turn 43 before the 2020 season kicks off, had a 60.8% completion rate with 4,057 yards, 24 touchdowns, eight interceptions.
We'll find out soon enough whether or not the Niners have any real interest in the six-time Super Bowl champ as teams around the league are permitted to enter contract negotiations with unrestricted free agents starting March 16th.
Chiefs Defense Mercilessly Troll Jimmy Garoppolo After The Super Bowl
It was a rough fourth quarter for Jimmy G.
Jimmy Garoppolo was having himself an impressive night during the first three-quarters of last night's Super Bowl. The San Francisco 49ers had a 20-10 lead with just seven minutes remaining although, in the end, they blew the lead and lost by a score of 31-20. Garoppolo went cold in the fourth quarter as the Chiefs defense smothered him at every turn. If you're Garoppolo, it was certainly a night to forget. However, if you're a member of the Chiefs defense, you won't be forgetting this one anytime soon.
Immediately following the game, Chiefs defensive stars like Frank Clark and Tyrann Mathieu were quick to pounce all over Jimmy G and his bad night. “You paying the guy $140 million, $130 million, whatever he’s getting paid. He’s gotta throw the ball. Obviously he didn’t do that. They threw for about 200 yards on checkdowns; that ain’t enough to win a game against us," Clark said.
"We were grateful they got out of the run and started to throw the ball," Mathieu remarked.
The Chiefs defense talked a big game throughout the playoffs but were able to back it up at every turn. With this in mind, Mathieu and Clark have certainly earned the right to make comments like this. However, we're sure this will keep Garoppolo motivated for next season.

Skip Bayless Urges The 49ers To Sign Tom Brady, Fans React
Skip has seen enough of Jimmy G.
Skip Bayless has been known to be one of the loudest voices in sports media and when he sees something he dislikes, he lets us know about it. Bayless is a mainstay on FS1's Undisputed where he can be seen debating the likes of Shannon Sharpe on a daily basis. Last night was the Super Bowl and after the Kansas City Chiefs came back to defeat the San Francisco 49ers, Bayless was fired up about the play of Niners quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo.
Jimmy G was good for three quarters but in the decisive frame, he was shakey and allowed the Chiefs to come back and win. Bayless felt as though his play was unacceptable and now, he is demanding the 49ers cut the QB and sign Tom Brady instead. Of course, Garoppolo was a backup for Brady back in New England.
"This is what I would do: I would cut Jimmy G and sign Tom Brady for 2 more years. Brady would live and love to go home. He started as a 49er fan in San Mateo," Bayless explained. As you can imagine, 49ers fans didn't take too kindly to this suggestion and immediately replied to Bayless with their displeasure.
Check out some of the reactions below and let us know if you agree with the Undisputed host.
Skip Bayless Disses Jimmy G and Says 49ers Should Get Tom Brady
Skip thought he came through with some gold.
Skip Bayless is one of the most polarizing figures on sports talk television and that's even considering the contributions of Stephen A. Smith. Skip has come through with some pretty dubious opinions over the years and has upset sports fans because of it. Regardless of how you feel about Bayless, there is no denying just how entertaining he is. When paired with former NFL star Shannon Sharpe, Skip is truly a delight to watch, even if you hate what comes out of his mouth.
Today, Skip came through with one of his most bizarre opinions yet. Essentially, Bayless believes the San Francisco 49ers are an underdog in the Super Bowl because Jimmy Garoppolo simply isn't good enough. In fact, Bayless thinks the 49ers should go out and get Tom Brady if they lose the Super Bowl.
Brady is a free agent for the first time in his career this Spring and would certainly be a perfect fit for the 49ers. Brady and Garoppolo have some history as the latter was Brady's backup in New England. Of course, Bayless' assertions are still farfetched when you consider how solid Garroppolo has actually been. If the 49ers lose the Super Bowl, it will be because of the Chiefs offense and not the shortcomings of their QB.
What do you think of Bayless' take here? Is he right or way off?
