Aaron Rodgers and Green Bay Packers fans around the world were put into a complete state of shock during the first round of the NFL Draft as the team picked up a quarterback in Jordan Love. Rodgers is one of the most talented quarterbacks to ever play the game so the idea that Rodgers would be replaced on terms others than his, was unfathomable. Well, the Packers are clearly drawing a line in the sand and now, Rodgers is speaking out.
During a virtual press conference today, Rodgers was asked about the Love pick and his answer was pretty devastating. As he explains, he was hoping to finish his career as a Packer but at this point, that doesn't seem probable.
Per Rodgers:
"It was more the surprise of the pick based on my own feelings of wanting to play into my 40s. And the realization that it does change the controllables a little bit because as much as I ... there are some factors that are out of my control. My sincere desire to start and finish with the organization, just as it has many other players over the years, may not be a reality at this point. And as much as I understand the organization's future outlook... and I respect that... at the same time, I still believe in myself and have a strong desire to play into my 40s, I'm just not sure how that all works together at this point."
These should be heartbreaking words for Packers fans everywhere. Rodgers is an NFL legend and his absence will certainly be felt, if and when it comes.
Brett Favre Says Aaron Rodgers Job "Is Not To Mentor Jordan Love"
Brett Favre gives his take on the Packers’ selection of Jordan Love in the first round.
Brett Favre spoke about his advice for Aaron Rodgers regarding the Packers’ 2020 1st round pick, Jordan Love, during an interview on ESPN Wisconsin’s Wilde & Tausch.

“Aaron’s job is not to mentor Jordan Love,” Favre says. “Aaron’s job is to win football games for the Green Bay Packers. That’s what he’s paid to do, and that’s what he’s going to do.”
Easy comparisons have been made between the Packers drafting Rodgers while still having Favre on the roster and the packers drafting Love while still having Rodgers on the roster. Favre infamously said about the situation at the time, “My contract doesn’t say I have to get Aaron Rodgers ready to play. Now, hopefully, he watches me and gets something from that.”
Favre goes on to explain how the dynamic might work between Rodgers and Love this season: “I can’t tell you how many times Aaron would ask, or just tag along and watch film with me. And he would ask questions like, ‘What are you looking at here? What are you thinking? Why did you check?’ Things like that. And I would certainly offer my reasons. Would I go out of my way to cultivate that relationship? Or say, ‘Hey, why don’t you come watch film with me?’ No. I’m not going to go out of my way. But if you ask, I’m not going to say no.
“I think Aaron will do the same thing. Again, this is 15 years that Aaron has played and played unbelievably well. And I don’t see any signs of him slowing down. There’s no reason for him to fear anything. At some point, someone’s going to replace you. You know that. I think our situations are so, so similar, but there is that one big difference—they drafted this kid just months after almost making it to the Super Bowl. So you would think they would go with an immediate need. That’s a big difference from my situation.”

Aaron Rodgers Breaks Twitter Silence Over Packers Draft Pick
Aaron Rodgers seems to be fed up with the notion that he's mad at the Packers.
By now, every NFL fan is aware of the Green Bay Packers' controversial decision to draft a quarterback in the first round. Jordan Love will now be Aaron Rodgers' backup and will most likely be his replacement once he retires or leaves the Packers. The decision has some fans fearing the worst about Rodgers' future in Green Bay and some pundits think he is even going to request a trade because of the disrespectful gesture made by his team.
Rodgers has said very little on the topic until recently when he started liking a whole bunch of messages on Twitter. One of the tweets that stands out is a shot at Packers reporter Rob Demovsky who suggested Rodgers is upset with the team. The Twitter user lashing out at Demovsky said Rodgers is a grown man who understands the business of football and that he isn't shaken up by the team's decision. Rodgers' use of the like button is a sure sign that he agrees with the message being conveyed and that he has no qualms about what the Packers decided to do.
It remains to be seen how things work out in Green Bay although for now, it's clear that the Packers are already toying with life after Aaron Rodgers.
Needless to say, next season is about to be a whole lot of fun.
Aaron Rodgers Reacts To Packers Drafting Jordan Love
Aaron Rodgers is now reaching out to his new backup following the Packers’ controversial first-round choice.
If you’re a fan of Aaron Rodgers and the Packers, Thursday night was an infuriating endeavor as the team essentially drafted his replacement in the first round. Jordan Love was taken with the 26th overall pick and fans were stunned that the Packers would betray Rodgers by drafting a backup QB instead of an actual offensive weapon like a wide receiver. Needless to say, the Packers are already looking towards the future while fans want the team to win right now.
There have been various theories as to how Rodgers is taking this news right now but as it turns out, he is handling it quite well. According to Maria Taylor, Love has been in contact with Rodgers who seems excited to become his mentor.

“I was able to talk with him earlier,” Love said. “Really good guy. Just congratulated me, and I was just letting him know that I was excited to be able to work with him.”
It remains to be seen whether or not Rodgers will be happy to have Love around next season although at least the Packers know they have a solid guy in place if Rodgers gets injured. Of course, this isn’t the ideal scenario for anyone but it looks like Rodgers and Love are ready to make the most of it.
