If and when the NBA season comes to a close, Ja Morant will probably end up walking away with rookie of the year honors. He has been phenomenal for the Memphis Grizzlies and his talents have helped turn the Grizzlies into a playoff team. Prior to this season, Morant played college basketball for Murray State which is located in Kentucky. Morant loved his time in Murray, and now, he is trying to create some valuable social change in the area.
Recently, Morant sent a letter to a judge in Kentucky asking for a Confederate statue in downtown Murray to be removed. As Morant notes, the Confederacy was quite racist and while the statue reminds us of history, it's a history that is shrouded in hate, and ultimately, it makes many uncomfortable.
Morant's sentiment is one that has been shared by many throughout the world over the past few weeks. With protests against racial inequality spreading throughout the country, many are debating the validity of Confederate statues and the flag itself. Morant is well-aware of this fight and his voice is certainly one that could get the attention of lawmakers.
It remains to be seen whether or not his request will be taken seriously, although we can't help but comment Morant for his efforts.

Paul’s office added that the Kentucky senator was unaware of being in direct contact with anyone diagnosed with COVID-19. He expects to be back in the Senate after his quarantine period ends. See his tweets (below).
Paul was the only senator to vote against the first round of an $8.3 billion emergency coronavirus bill last month. He’s also one of only eight senators who voted against paid sick leave in a stimulus package that was approved with a 90-8 vote last week. Paul is also a licensed medical professional in Kentucky.
The report comes just days after two House members, Reps. Ben McAdams (D-UT) and Mario Diaz-Balart (R-FL), announced last week that they contracted COVID-19, making them the first members of Congress to come down with the coronavirus. We’ll continue to keep you posted with this Covid-19 pandemic moving forward. Stay safe.

Man Awarded $150,000 After Officials Deny His "I’M GOD" License Plate
Thanks to the First Amendment, this Kentucky driver is able to use his "I'M GOD" license plate and was rewarded $150,000 by the officials who tried to stop him.
A United State district judge has awarded Ben "Bennie" Hart $150,000, paid out by the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, to cover his legal fees after his request for an "IM GOD" license plate was denied, according to FOX 19.
Hart claims he had been using the "I'M GOD" license plate for more than a decade, but when he moved to Kenton County, Kentucky in 2016, he was told he couldn't use the plate anymore.
"I can prove I’m God. You can’t prove I’m not. Now, how can I prove I’m God? Well, there are six definitions for God in the American Heritage Dictionary, and number five is a very handsome man, and my wife says I’m a very handsome man, and nobody argues with my wife,” he told FOX 19.
Hart is an atheist who says the plate is his way of spreading a political and philosophical message that religion is open to interpretation.
Commonwealth transportation officials sent Hart a letter saying his plate was “vulgar" and "obscene.” It also said that the words “IM ALLAH,” “IM BUDDAH,” or “IM SATAN” would also be denied for the same reasons.
The courts ruled in favor of Hart, saying that the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet violated the First Amendment by attempting to stop him.
Kodak Black Gets Official Release Date From Prison
Kodak has also been transferred to a prison in Kentucky.
Kodak Black has been given an official release date from prison, and it looks like the rapper will be a free man once again by August 2022. According to law enforcement officials, Kodak is set to be released on August 14th, 2022. He could even be let out a few days earlier, since the 14th falls on a Sunday and it’s federal policy to let inmates out early if their release date falls on a weekend. Along with the news of his future freedom, Kodak was also temporarily transferred to a federal prison in Oklahoma City. Following this stay, he will be officially placed in a correctional facility in Kentucky for the remainder of his sentence. He is currently serving 46 months for a gun possession case, in which he spent the first portion at a Miami federal prison.
Kodak recently spoke out about the “cruel and unethical” treatment he’s received at the hands of the guards at FCI Miami. He claimed to have been claiming drugged, beaten and denied food and medical attention among other basic needs, and expressed his fear that he would end up dead if these circumstances continue. His mother, Marcelene Simmons, recently hired attorney Benjamin Crump, who notably worked with Trayvon Martin’s family in the George Zimmerman case. Marcelene has threatened to sue the Bureau of Prisons for her son’s abhorred experiences in the Miami facility. However, Kodak was reportedly not transferred due to his complaints about the inhumane conditions in Miami. According to TMZ, inmates don’t usually spend their entire sentences at FCI Miami, but rather, are given a risk assessment to determine which prison is the best fit for them before getting transferred.
Drake’s OVO x Air Jordan 14 "Kentucky" Sample Resurfaces: Photos
Drake’s OVO samples continue to dazzle sneakerheads.
Over the past few weeks, the internet has been flooded with new images of OVO Air Jordan samples. Earlier today, we gave you some images of the OVO Air Jordan 11 which is poised to become one of the most infamous shoes Drake has ever helped create. Back in 2019, an OVO Air Jordan 14 sample hit the internet that has many people excited. Of course, this sneaker was a blue and white Kentucky PE that had the OVO own on the tongue. Gold OVO branding was also found on the back heel.
Thanks to the Instagram sneaker account @zsneakerheadz, we now have a detailed in-depth look at the infamous Kentucky PE. As you can see, the shoe perfectly represents the team’s colors and would look perfect on the players’ feet during the March Madness tournament. Most Drake sneakers are known for being white and gold so seeing some blue is a welcome change of pace. Unfortunately, we will never see this shoe on the market. If you want to cop it, you’ll have to fork over thousands of dollars.
