When Akon uploaded a video of himself in the studio with Tekashi 6ix9ine, he likely already envisioned all of the backlash he would be receiving. The two rappers are currently working on a sequel to Akon's hit record "Locked Up" and everyone seems to have an opinion about the track.
Although the song does not yet have a release date attached to it, Akon and 6ix9ine broke the internet when they confirmed they were working together. Tory Lanez shared his opinion and so did Styles P, the original feature on the track. Now, NLE Choppa is chiming in and he doesn't seem pleased that this is happening.
The Memphis upstart tweeted a face-palm emoji, specifying that he's not too impressed with Akon right now. He's not alone as many music fans have turned their backs on the 47-year-old because of this.
The teenage rapper is admittedly not a fan of Tekashi 6ix9ine so it's not too surprising for him to be angry about this new development. Just the other week, he said that he thinks YNW Melly should be free instead of the rainbow-haired snitch.
Recently, NLE Choppa was in the news after he called out the mother of his newborn child for allegedly refusing to give him any information about his daughter. He claims that she won't even tell him her name.
Pretty Ricky’s Spectacular Comes For Tory Lanez: "Since You Got That New Hairline"
Spectacular calls cap on Tory Lanez and says that the artist sampled Pretty Ricky without his permission.
There was a lot of online banter after Tekashi 6ix9ine and Akon got acquainted in the studio this weekend, sharing a preview of their upcoming record “Locked Up Part 2.” Hip-hop fans are angry at Akon for collaborating with the formerly-incarcerated rapper. Styles P issued his response and so did Tory Lanez.
“So what y’all telling me is …. Akon gave the #LockedUpRemix / SAMPLE to someone else !?!?? And not me?!????” exclaimed Tory on Twitter.
This led another party to get involved, suggesting Tory should just “steal” the record like he allegedly did with a number of others.
“@torylanez you should just stole it like you did Grind On Me and Your Body. Why stop now ….. Just keeping it 2 Virgils,” said Spectacular of Pretty Ricky.
As expected, the shady reply garnered a response from Lanez.
“STOLE WHAT ??!? Actually I BOUGHT the rights from whoever signed u and publishes your music,” said Tory. “But I guess you weren’t apart of that conversation. Go stare in someone eyes and rub on someone thighs and leave me outta this one.”
Spectacular got the final word in, leaving a comment on the post.
“Ever since you got that new hairline, you been acting different,” he said. “Stop with the [cap]. Last time I checked, I owned my own masters. What type of bootleg business you running. You acting like Virgil but not keeping it 2 Virgils.”
Tory Lanez Reacts To 6ix9ine & Akon Collab, Akon Responds
Tory Lanez seems to be just a bit jealous of Tekashi 6ix9ine linking up with Akon,
In the midst of all of the protests yesterday, Akon and 6ix9ine had the entire internet buzzing as they linked up for a preview of a new song. As many figured out, the song was a remix to Akon's smash hit "Locked Up." 6ix9ine was dubbing this song as "Locked Up Part 2" and fans are already split on how they feel about it. On one hand, some think the song sounds good while others are appalled that Akon would associate himself with someone like 6ix9ine.
After hearing about the collaboration, Tory Lanez took to Twitter in utter disappointment. As he explained, he couldn't believe Akon had given the "Locked Up" remix to another artist. However, all was not lost for Tory as Akon quickly chimed in noting that he would allow him to be on "Locked Up Part 3."
It remains to be seen whether or not this 6ix9ine and Akon collab will ever see the light of day. 6ix9ine is known to be a troll and perhaps the snippet was simply a way to go viral. However, if the song does drop, it will certainly be a chart-topper as many fans will be excited about the 2000s nostalgia.
Either way, the song will surely be polarizing.
Akon Gets Reamed Out By Fans For Collaborating With 6ix9ine
It looks like Akon is actually collaborating with 6ix9ine after all, and his fans are not happy.
Fans clowned Akon to no end for actually going ahead and collaborating with 6ix9ine, after the rapper posted a clip of them vibing to their unreleased song "Locked Up Part 2," a remix of Akon's 2006 track of the same name. It's no secret how Akon feels about 6ix9ine, as the singer has defended his snitching ways on multiple occasions, insisting that he would've done the same thing. The two of them were even supposed to go head-to-head for a hit battle last month, but it never panned out. Akon might be one of the only artists in the industry that still associates themselves with 6ix9ine—at least publicly—so it should come as no surprise that the two of them are working together, but for some reason, it still does.
6ix9ine posted the clip of the two of them previewing the remix on Sunday (June 7th), and it didn't take long for fans to pass judgement on Akon for his questionable choice of a collaborator. 6ix9ine's curious rainbow wig was also a big point of focus, for obvious reasons.
6ix9ine & Akon Link Up And Preview "Locked Up Part 2"
Tekashi 6ix9ine is looking to remix a classic Akon song and the legend is standing right by his side.
Ever since 6ix9ine came home from jail, legendary artist Akon has been going to bat for him. Akon defended why 6ix9ine ended up snitching on his fellow gang members and at one point, Akon seemed to be interested in doing a hit battle with Tekashi. Now, the two are going even farther with their newfound friendship as Akon has been hanging out at 6ix9ine’s house where the rainbow-haired rapper has his very own makeshift studio.
In the clip below, Tekashi and Akon are jamming out to a brand new track in which 6ix9ine speaks on being thrown in prison. Akon can be seen bobbing his head and eventually, we hear his hook from the classic track “Locked Up.” In 6ix9ine’s post, he refers to the song as “Locked Up Part 2” and that he is currently in album mode.
6ix9ine urged his fans to comment on the IG post and said that if he gets 100,000 comments, he will release the song. Tekashi has been teasing another track over the past few weeks and it was originally going to come out on June 5th but it got pushed back to June 12th.
With this latest collaboration in mind, perhaps there really is some steam to this whole 6ix9ine comeback tour.
