Lou Williams has been one of the most consistent sixth men in the NBA over the past few years and has been a great depth player for the Los Angeles Clippers. The Clippers are expected to be title contenders once the playoffs roll around and Williams will most likely be a huge part of that. Last night, Williams helped his team put away the Philadelphia 76ers by a score of 136-130. It was a hard-fought game for both teams, especially the Clippers who struggled at times.
Amid those struggles, Williams appeared to get in an argument with Paul George over defensive assignments. As you can see in the clip below, the two players exchanged some words and eventually, the clip made its way to social media. Williams immediately took to Twitter to deescalate the situation.
"You can tell y’all never competed at a high level before. This a regular conversation," Williams said with some laughing emojis sprinkled in for good measure. Clearly, Williams doesn't want there to be any negative noise surrounding his team, especially with the playoffs just a month away.
As it stands, the Clippers are tied for second in the Western Conference with a record of 41-19.

Los Angeles Clippers point guard Lou Williams recently added a new piece of artwork in his Atlanta home, as he continues to remember the life and legacy of Los Angeles Lakers legend, Kobe Bryant.
As seen in the IG video embedded below, the wall-to-wall mural features Kobe in his Lakers jersey, as well as his daughter Gianna in her Mamba Academy uniform. According to TMZ Sports, the incredible piece took 13 hours to paint.
Late last week, Williams paid tribute to the Black Mamba by releasing a new song titled “24,” which he simply describes as “an open letter to the homie.”
Williams briefly played alongside Kobe as a member of the Lakers during the 2015-16 season, and was among those who witnessed firsthand that infamous “Charmin Soft” practice. Despite their limited time as teammates, Kobe clearly meant a lot to Lou. The veteran point guard tweeted the following the day after Kobe’s passing, “Been crying on and off. Have a random thought about things we spoke about then laugh. Cry again. Then I tell myself tighten up, mamba was tough. Wipe my eyes. Cry again RIPKOBE”
Lou Will and the Clippers are currently third in the Western Conference with a record of 37-18. They’ll host the Sacramento Kings in their return to the court after the All Star break.

Lou Williams & Kendrick Perkins Trade Jabs On Twitter After Clippers Loss
Perkins is always dishing out some hot takes.
Kendrick Perkins has been one of the biggest hot take artists in sports media since his retirement. Perkins is always coming through with some content for the various shows he makes guest appearances on. Typically, these hot takes upset various players throughout the league. It shouldn't be surprising that this is the case especially since athletes can be pretty sensitive. On Tuesday night, Perkins got himself in trouble, once again, thanks to a tweet he sent about the Los Angeles Clippers.
After losing to the Philadelphia 76ers, Perkins implied that the Clippers only care about playing well against the Lakers. This led to a swift response from Lou Williams who said the Clippers are doing just fine. In fact, Williams accused Perkins of trying to get extra content for one of the shows he typically frequents.
Eventually, the conversation toned down as both men sent blessings to one another. Clearly, Perkins is just giving his honest observations which can sometimes be misinterpreted. Either way, we're sure there was no real malice behind them. After all, the Clippers are one of the best teams in the entire league. Regardless, there is no denying the team's record against winning teams is questionable, at best.
Do you think Perkins is right with his comments?
Lou Williams, Nick Young Recall Classic Kobe Bryant Story
Lou Will remembers the time Kobe banned the Lakers from wearing his signature shoes.
Kobe Bryant's former teammates and coaches, as well as those who played and coached against him, will continue to mourn his loss and honor his life and legacy by sharing some of their fondest memories. There's no limit to how long this grieving process will last, but it certainly helps when those who knew Kobe best recall such classic stories.
On Monday night, Bryant's former Laker teammates Nick Young and Lou Williams discussed some of their most memorable moments with the Black Mamba, including how he once banned his teammates from wearing his sneakers because they simply weren't worthy.
According to Lou Will, "We got blew out in Portland. He took everybody Kobe’s and said they couldn’t wear it cause we was soft."
In the aftermath of Kobe's passing, there have been so many stories about his competitive nature and the "Mamba Mentality," as well as countless anecdotes regarding his post-NBA career. Specifically, those who were closest with Kobe recall just how much he loved being a father to his four daughters.
In honor of Bryant's life and legacy, both on and off the court, it's also important to remember stories like the one shared by Lou Williams - the stories that still bring a smile to our faces in these dark times.
Lou Williams Reacts To Recent Praise From Kevin Durant
There is a lot of mutual respect between these two.
Lou Williams recently got some high praise courtesy of Brooklyn Nets superstar, Kevin Durant. While talking to fans on Twitter, Durant said Lou Williams was one of the five hardest players to guard in the NBA. Williams has been known for his exceptional scoring off the bench and continues to be praised by his peers. There are very few players with bad things to say about Williams' game which just goes to show how respected he is.
During a recent interview Tomer Azarly of Clutch Points, Williams spoke about Durant's praise and talked about what it means to him. Being complimented by your peers is always nice and Williams understands that better than anyone.
"That's cool... It's neat. K & I have played against each other since high school. We've battled over 2 dozen times over our careers. It's always just been mutual respect so that's cool," Williams said.
The last time these two had a showdown, it was in the first round of the playoffs as the Los Angeles Clippers pushed the Golden State Warriors to six games. Williams was a huge reason why the Clippers defied expectations last year. With this in mind, it's clear as to why Durant would mention him.
Kevin Durant Reveals His Top Five Hardest Players To Guard
Some players may come as a surprise.
Kevin Durant is one of the best scorers the NBA has ever seen although as of right now, he is being sidelined with an Achilles injury. It remains to be seen when we'll see Durant back on the court but luckily, he is still very much active on social media. Durant's show The Boardroom has amassed quite a bit of popularity as of late and fans have been tuning in every since episodes began to air. Recently, Durant took to The Boardroom's Twitter account where he answered questions submitted to him by fans.
One of the questions was regarding who he thought some of the toughest players to guard in the NBA were. Durant gave five names including LeBron James, Kawhi Leonard, Lou Williams, Paul George, and even Joel Embiid.
Players like LeBron and Kawhi shouldn't come as a surprise but the other three might shock some people. Williams is a big offensive threat but is mainly known for his contributions off the bench. George and Embiid are great players but they aren't in the upper echelon of the NBA like LeBron and Kawhi are. Either way, we're sure Durant's comments will drum up some conversation. After all, these answers are based on his own personal experience.
Lou Williams Reacts To Report About Kawhi Leonard’s LeBron Diss
Williams isn't too sure about Stephen A. Smith's sources.
Stephen A. Smith is a man who is connected to numerous voices throughout the NBA. Sometimes, Smith comes to First Take with exclusive scoops on some of the happenings around the league. On Wednesday, that's exactly what Stephen A. did as he revealed that Kawhi Leonard reportedly called LeBron James "soft" in the locker room. After defeating the Lakers on Christmas Day, the Clippers star reportedly told his teammates that LeBron should stop being scared to guard him. Considering Kawhi is such a quiet person, Smith's report was immediately met with some skepticism.
One of Kawhi's teammates, Lou Williams, also has some questions about Smith's report. Yesterday, Williams took to Twitter where he subtly accused Smith of coming through with an inaccurate report. Williams went on to say "I just know I’ve never heard him say anything close to that about anybody. He just compete."
If these were any other players than LeBron and Kawhi, not many people would bat an eye. The Lakers and the Clippers are the league's biggest rivalry this season and fans are excited to see how it will all play out come playoff time. If the Clippers and Lakers were to meet in the Western Conference Finals, we would be in for a real treat.
The next time these two play, we're sure LeBron will be playing with fire in his eyes.
Lou Williams Reveals He Named His Son After His Sixth Man Awards
This is definitely an interesting name.
Lou Williams will go down as one of the best six-mans in NBA history. The man is an absolute scoring machine while coming off the bench for the Los Angeles Clippers. With him on the roster, the Clippers are a loaded team that have a phenomenal shot at making it all the way to the NBA Finals. Throughout his career, Williams has won three sixth man of the year awards and continues to impress fans with his abilities as a role player.
Last night, Williams scored 22 points in a win over the Detroit Pistons. According to TMZ, Williams was talking to a reporter after the game where he was asked about his newborn son’s unique name. As it turns out, the child’s name is Syx which, believe it or not, is an homage to his abilities as a sixth man.
“I always said if I had a son I was going to give him a unique name,” Williams explained. “Nothing was coming to me, so I just said, ‘You know what, I’m going to name him Syx, spell it a little different’ and we just had some fun with it.”
His child was born on Tuesday and as Williams explained, he will be playing basketball as soon as humanly possible. Needless to say, basketball is in his blood.
