"We are in the heart of Hollywood right now, one of the world’s most powerful industries and I am an active member of that. And they need to go on notice," he said. "Anybody that deals with me, if you have racist beliefs, if you have a racist bone in your body, if you're not with me, if you don't stand with me and people that look like me, you don't need to be with me. I use my power to demand diversity but it's time that studios and agencies … do so."
"You committed to a 50/50 gender parity in 2020, where is the challenge to commit to black hiring? Black content, led by black executives, black consultants … So let us bring our darkness to the light? We're done with discrimination," he added.
Insecure star Kendrick Sampson also made an appearance during the event.
"I want you to spread the word, this is factual: The police system that we know today is based on slave-catching," Sampson said. "... The policing system started with a bad seed. It has grown a bad tree and it bears bad fruit ... We need to imagine a world free of police terror. We call ourselves an industry of creatives. Where the fuck is your imagination?"

The legal drama is now free to rent for the month of June.
The civil rights era film co-starring Michael B. Jordan and Jamie Foxx has been made available to rent for free for the month of June on digital streaming platforms by Warner Bros. Pictures because of the company’s belief in the “power of story.”
Just Mercy, originally released in theaters back in 2019 to limited reception, is a film about the work of civil rights attorney Bryan Stevenson in the 80s. Directed by Daniel Cretton, the film stars Michael B. Jordan as Stevenson, the lawyer who defends Walter McMillian against a wrongful murder conviction. McMillain is played by Jamie Foxx. Throughout the film, Stevenson not only attempts to fight the murder conviction, but also the systemic issues within the United States legal system.
Along with a tweet announcing the news, Warner Bros. also released a statement explaining the move. “We believe in the power of story,” the company said. “Our film Just Mercy, based on the life work of civil rights attorney Bryan Stevenson, is one resource we can humbly offer to those who are interested in learning more about the systemic racism that plagues our society. For the month of June, Just Mercy will be available to rent for free across digital platforms in the US.”
The company offers the film as a resource for those who want to learn more about the systemic racism that persists in this country.

M’Baku Actor Wants To Be The Villain In "Black Panther 2"
M’Baku actor, Winston Duke, wants to be the main antagonist in “Black Panther 2.”
Winston Duke, the actor most notably known for playing M’Baku in Black Panther (2018), wants to be Black Panther 2‘s main villain in the new film. With writer/director Ryan Coogler at the helm of the latest installment of the Marvel film and the original movie becoming a massive success, BlackPanther 2 won’t make its way to the silver screen until May 2022. With the writing process being a tedious one and having to live up to the first T’Challa-centered film, Duke is publicly suggesting that M’Baku should serve as the new film’s antagonist in a brand new interview with Screen Rant. Liliane Lathan/Getty Images
Despite the fact that Duke’s character, M’Baku reached a temporary alliance with Wakanda’s king, T’Challa, during the original film, Duke feels that he has the range to become a mainstay villain throughout the second installment of the entire feature film. During the interview, Duke affirmed his reasoning stating:
(M’Baku) is a hero, but he has so much going on. I think what makes a really great villain is that they have the power of seeing things their own way, and they can define their own circumstances.
The 6’5 Trinbagonian–American actor then went on to praise the complexities of other MCU villains, as he continued:
“And that’s what’s really cool about all the MCU villains so far as well. Loki always sees things his own way, and he chooses when he’s going to be an ally or an antagonist. Thanos always had the power of self-definition. That’s his greatest strength. It wasn’t the rings, it wasn’t his superpower or the fighting. It’s that he made his mind up and said, ‘This is how I define justice.’
Because he wasn’t a bad guy; he’s just a dude who was seeking ultimate justice and balance. That’s not bad. But he defined it himself, and all the really great villains that Marvel interrogates always have that ability, so they can go anywhere.”

For those of you unaware, M’Baku is the leader of the renegade Jabari Tribe who chose to shun Wakanda’s technological society and have a religious reverence for gorillas. Their primitive way of living has allowed them to adapt to the mountainous climate of Wakanda’s natural climate.
Upon its release, Black Panther became the highest-grossing superhero film of all-time raking in over a $1 billion globally within weeks of its release. One year later, Marvel shattered their own record bringing in over $2.7 billion in worldwide revenue for their Avengers: End Game film.
Only time will tell what Marvel, Ryan Coogler, and Disney have in store for Black Panther II. Until then, the mass will have to patiently wait until 2022 to see what’s in store for the highly-popularized comic book film franchise.
Billie Eilish Says Michael B. Jordan Should Be Next James Bond
Billie Eilish would like to see Michael B. Jordan as 007.
Following the forthcoming, No time To Die film, Daniel Craig’s James Bond will be no more. It leaves behind the question as to just who will take on the next era of Bond, and Billie Eilish has offered up her take on the matter.
“Honestly, Michael B. Jordan would kill that s–t,” the singer said earlier in the week in an interview with Capital Breakfast. “I think he’d kill it.”
No time To Die will mark the end of the series of Craig films that have included Casino Royale, Quantum Of Solace, Skyfall and Spectre. Eilish ties into all of this as she is the voice behind this film’s theme song, making her the youngest artist to compose a James Bond theme song.
the premise of the new film finds Bond retired in Jamaica. Naturally, the solace is short-lived as he’s tapped by an old friend from the CIA for help in rescuing a kidnapped scientist. Rami Malek takes on the role of the Bond villain this time around.
No Time to Die will debut in theaters in April.

Jamie Foxx Drew Inspiration From Father’s Jail Stint For Falsely Convicted "Just Mercy" Character
He saw injustice first hand while growing up in Texas.
As a youngster, Jamie Foxx was raised by his grandparents who legally adopted him. The actor previously struggled with understanding why his birth parents didn’t want to take care of him and weren’t apart of his life. As an adult, Jamie reconnected with his mother, even moving her into his home back in 2014. He admitted at the time that building a relationship with his father has a bit more difficult, but that he was open to making it work.
Dia Dipasupil / Staff / Getty ImagesAlthough his birth parents were absent, the actor has shared that his grandparents were loving and supportive of him through every step of his life. In a recent chat with Just Mercy co-star Michael B. Jordan about his real-life character Walter McMillian, an Alabama man falsely convicted of murder and sentenced to death back in the 1980s, Jamie revealed that he drew inspiration from his parents.
“I’m from the South,” the Texas native said to Jordan. Jamie reportedly grew up in a segregated area of Terrell, Texas. “My father was put in jail for $25 worth of illegal substance. Who had educated black folks in South Dallas for 25 years. The very judge that he would have come visit the school and talk to the kids was the judge that presided in this case, putting him in jail for seven years. But now he’s sitting in a cell with people who he used to teach.” Watch Jamie and Jordan’s conversation, along with the Just Mercy trailer, below.
