As protests across the country demand for police to be held accountable for their actions, law enforcement officials are still abusing their power without repercussions. According to the Los Angeles Times, LA County Sheriffs deputies fatally show Michael Thomas, a 62-year-old unarmed Black man who was inside of his home when he was killed, though many believe the police's account of what happened is dubious.
Police responded to domestic violence report at Thomas' home on Thursday morning after they said his fiancee called 9. Deputy James Nagao said that she doesn't actually speak to the operator, though the phone line was left open for the operator to hear what was going on in the background. "For several minutes, arguing and fighting between the caller and the suspect can be heard in the background," Nagao said. Police claim that Thomas failed to comply with orders and attempted to grab one of the deputy's firearm which is when he was shot dead.
However, the man's fiancee refutes what the police are saying. “I heard Michael say, ‘I have a right to not let you in my house,'” Thomas' fiancee Kimberly said. She added that Thomas was only trying to turn him away while practicing his fourth amendment right which is meant to protect citizens from unreasonable searches in their home.
Bradley Gage, a lawyer for Thomas' family member, said he's in possession of "good evidence that the claim that Mr. Thomas was going for a gun is completely false."
He added, "If he wasn’t going for a gun, and the officers are lying about that, why would they be lying?... There’s only one logical explanation: They’re trying to cover it up.”
Gage said the death could've been prevented especially since they entered the home "without any evidence of any injuries or harm to the fiancee." Thomas' family said it was only a verbal dispute, though police claimed that his fiancee later told police she had been assaulted.
“That’s exactly why we have a fourth amendment,” Gage said. “It’s to avoid the kinds of illegal searches and seizures where the police come into people’s homes and harm them or, here, kill them.”
Unfortunately, this happened within the same 24 hours that Robert Fuller's body was found hanging in front of City Hall in Palmdale, California which is within the same proximity as Lancaster.

Minter began by sending a DM to Saints' wide receiver Michael Thomas, saying that he had a plan to put pressure on the NFL to support the Black Lives Matter movement. "Hey Mike," he wrote. "Want to help you create content to be heard around the league. I'm an NFL social employee and am embarrassed by how the league has been silent this week... I want [to] help you put the pressure on. And arm you with a video that expresses YOUR voice and [what] you want from the League. Give me a holler if you’re interested in working together, thanks bro!”
Thomas immediately responded and soon, the video below was uploaded to social media.
"We didn't feel like our voices were being heard," Minter told Yahoo! Sports. "And that's what ultimately inspired me to go rogue."
“The players are the league,” Minter continued. “Without the players, no one gives a shit. Our game is the players, it’s our players’ personalities, it’s our players’ performance, it’s all about them. And if they speak up, they have the power.”
Friday, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell released a video expressing the league's support for the Black Lives Matter movement.

NFL Players Want League To Admit It Was Wrong About Peaceful Protests
NFL Players including Odell Beckham Jr., Michael Thomas, and Patrick Mahomes came together with a few demands for the league.
Professional football players recently banded together to help create a viral video. Some of the NFL's most championed players spoke directly to the league when they asked the NFL to openly condemn racism, stand on the side of Black Lives Matter, and admit that they were wrong in silencing players, including Colin Kaepernick, who called for peaceful protests. While the league hasn't directly answered the requests of its black players just yet, they have issued a statement regarding the recent political climate without mentioning George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, or police brutality.

"This is a time of self-reflection for all – the NFL is no exception. We stand with the black community because Black Lives Matter," the NFL wrote on their Instagram page. "Through Inspire Change, the NFL, Players and our partners have supported programs and initiatives throughout the country to address systemic racism. We will continue using our platform to challenge the injustice around us."
They added that to date, they've already "donated $44 million to support hundreds of worthy organizations." Additionally, "This year, we are committing an additional $20 million to these causes and we will accelerate efforts to highlight their critical work. We know that we can and need to do more." Players and fans are waiting to see if they'll respond to the viral clip. Check it all out below.
Saints’ Michael Thomas Peddles Anti-Vaxx And COVID-19 Conspiracies
Michael Thomas tweeted and deleted some strange opinions.
If there is one thing for sure about the Coronavirus, it's that it has brought out the worst in some people. COVID-19 has led to the spread of misinformation and some wild conspiracy theories that even include 5G towers and a whole lot of anti-vaxx sentiment. The latest high-profile person to go off on the conspiracy side of things was none other than New Orleans Saints wide receiver, Michael Thomas.
Today, the superstar wide receiver took to Twitter where he said that vaccines have never been the cure for viruses and that God gifted us with plenty of mechanisms for defeating illnesses on our own. He also expressed doubt in the severity of the virus and even took shots at Bill Gates, saying the guy who created Microsoft could never be responsible for a real cure.
From there, Thomas noted that Jeff Bezos hasn't begun looking for a cure which somehow proves his point about Gates. Either way, he must have gotten a call from his agent, or even the Saints because quickly after these tweets were posted, they were deleted.
We're sure some of you in the comments section will agree with Thomas but if you're paying attention to the COVID-19-related stats, you would know that this is very serious and people are dying because a treatment hasn't yet been developed.
Perhaps Thomas will change his mind after some deeper research.
