NBA fans are gearing up for an exciting stretch of action as some of the league's best players prepare to embark on a journey to Chicago for this year's All-Star game. There will be plenty of fun festivities including the skills competition and the game itself. Just last night, the starters for the Western and Eastern Conference were revealed. In the West, LeBron James, Anthony Davis, James Harden, Kawhi Leonard, and Luka Doncic will lead the way while out East, Trae Young, Joel Embiid, Pascal Siakim, Kemba Walker, and Giannis Antetokoumpo were selected.
While these names are all very deserving, there was one omission in the Eastern Conference that had some fans fuming. Yes, that's right, none other than Jimmy Butler of the Miami Heat was snubbed from the game. Butler has led his Heat team to a respectable record and fans figured he would be a lock as a starter. When news broke that he wouldn't start, fans took to Twitter in droves where they condemned the decision.
Most of the vitriol is being sent in the direction of Trae Young who is playing on one of the worst teams in the entire league. The selection isn't Young's fault but that hasn't stopped fans from being upset. Butler has been a fan-favorite this year and the fact he wasn't included has people very upset.
Regardless, there is still a chance he makes the team so fans shouldn't get too upset so soon.
LeBron James Hilariously Shades Anthony Davis Over All-Star Draft
The All-Star draft is about to be entertaining.
LeBron James has been tasked with being an All-Star captain this season and fans are excited for the draft which will take place prior to the game. Essentially, LeBron and Giannis Antetokounmpo will go head-to-head and draft players for their respective teams. Last year's draft was a lot of fun and featured some playful trash-talking between the two players. Heading into the 2020 NBA All-Star game, we expect even more of that.
The starters for the game have been named and as you can imagine, Anthony Davis is one of those starters. After defeating the Brooklyn Nets last night, LeBron was asked whether or not he would be picking Davis in the draft. Of course, LeBron turned it into a bit of a joke as he said "I don't know if I like him like that."
LeBron picked AD first last season which ultimately led to speculation that Davis might come to the Lakers. Eventually, that speculation became a reality and now, the Lakers are first place in the Western Conference. If Giannis is smart, he will snag AD away from LeBron in order to create an unstoppable frontcourt. Regardless, we're going to have to wait and see what LeBron chooses to do.
Who do you think LeBron should draft onto his All-Star team?
LeBron James & Giannis Named All-Star Captains, Starters Revealed
These lineups are pretty stacked.
We're already at the midway point of the NBA season which means the All-Star game is only a few short weeks away. The game is going to go down on Sunday, February 16th in Chicago and fans are excited to see which players are going to end up in the game. Yesterday, fans got a glimpse at what the game will be like as the starters were finally revealed. Just like last year, LeBron James and Giannis Antetokounmpo will serve as captains for the match.
The rest of the lineups are looking pretty stacked. In the Eastern Conference, the starters will be Giannis, Trae Young, Joel Embiid, Kemba Walker, and Pascal Siakim. Meanwhile, the Western Conference will feature LeBron, Kawhi Leonard, Luka Doncic, Anthony Davis, and James Harden.
It remains to be seen who else will be playing in the game. Fans are excited to see some of the best players in the world participate in what should be the biggest event of the year, aside from the playoffs, of course. With LeBron and AD teamed up together, the game will certainly be a ton of fun. Meanwhile, we hope Dwight Howard gets a spot considering he will be in the dunk contest.
What do you think of this crop of starters?
LeBron James Answers Whether Or Not The Lakers Need More Pieces
The Lakers are first in the Western Conference.
We're already almost at the end of January which means the NBA trade deadline is quickly approaching. The deadline will go down on February 6th and teams are gearing up for some pretty massive trades that could shake up the entire league, for better or for worse. Halfway through the season, the Los Angeles Lakers are looking like one of the best teams in the league for the first time in a very long while. Despite this, some pundits think the Lakers need at least one more piece in order to become a true title contender.
Recently, LeBron James was asked if the Lakers should make any trades at the deadline. LeBron has been known to play the role of general manager at times and the media is curious as to whether or not he thinks his team is good enough. According to ESPN's Dave McMenamin, LeBron is taking a more diplomatic approach.
So there you have it, James thinks the Lakers are good enough right now. Of course, LeBron could be saying this simply to keep the team's chemistry together. Kyrie Irving recently said the Nets need more pieces and the team appears to be in shambles because of it. It's clear LeBron is taking a more savvy approach to this situation.
Do you think the Lakers need to make any trades and if so, who should they go out and get?
Steph Curry Reveals Which Team He Wanted To Get Drafted By
Curry is probably happy he went to Golden State.
Steph Curry will go down as the best shooter to ever play the game when his career comes to an end. Curry has won three championships with the Golden State Warriors and many fans think he can win more as long as the entire Warriors team gets healthy and adds some pieces. Regardless of where you stand on him, there is no denying his influence on the game.
During a recent appearance on the "All The Smoke" podcast with Matt Barnes and Stephen Jackson, Curry spoke about what it was like being drafted and how he originally wanted to go to the New York Knicks, of all places.
“When I got drafted — it’s kind of funny thinking back — I wanted to go to New York and thought I was going to New York,” Curry said. “I was in the draft, I was in the green room like, ‘Oh, we’ll get to the eighth spot and New York will get me,’ and then I got the call from [then-general manager] Larry Riley and like, ‘Alright, we’re gonna pick you in the seventh spot.”
Considering how the Knicks have been run these last few years, everything worked out for the best from Curry's perspective. Although for Knicks fans, this must come as a huge blow.
Jimmy Butler Comments On Dwyane Wade’s Recent "Crazy" Remarks
Butler is thriving in Miami.
Jimmy Butler has been putting on a show for the Miami Heat this season and fans couldn’t be happier. Butler was acquired from the Philadelphia 76ers in the offseason and as the number one option on the team, Butler is looking like a leader. Earlier in his career, Butler was criticized for the way he conducts himself around his teammates but now, he looks like he has completely embraced the mentor role in his time with this young Heat squad.
Recently, Dwyane Wade lovingly referred to Butler as “crazy,” noting that his personality is perfect for the city of Miami. Butler was given a chance to respond to Wade’s comments and as you can imagine, Butler showed saying just how much he loves the culture of the franchise.

“I think it’s all based off of honesty, truthfulness, hard work and intention,” Butler said according to Nick Friedell of ESPN. “And I feel like when you talk about myself, you talk about Spo, you talk about Coach Pat, that’s what all of this thing is based off of: how hard you work, how you can keep it real with one another and not take anything personal. It fits for me here. I’m loving it, man. They’re constantly in my ear, and we’re constantly going back and forth, figuring out ways that I can be better. How I can make everybody else better.”
Moving forward, the Heat could be a serious problem in the playoffs if Butler continues to play so well. The Eastern Conference has been entertaining this year and the Heat are a large reason why.
J. Cole Daps Up LeBron James At Lakers Game, Fans React
You never know who you'll run into at MSG.
LeBron James is one of the biggest celebrities in the history of the NBA thanks to his contributions to the game and relevancy in pop culture. LeBron is known by pretty well everyone and his brand has been globalized. Whenever he plays in a big city, it's a big deal and now that he's in Los Angeles, his profile has been magnified immensely. Last night, LeBron and the Lakers were in New York to take on the Knicks at Madison Square Garden. MSG is filled with a plethora of celebrities on any given night. On Wednesday, it just so happened that J. Cole was in the building.
At one point in the first half, LeBron went over to J. Cole where the two dapped each other up before James went right back into the game. Sitting right next to Cole was Spike Lee who had a brief exchange with LeBron later in the match.
After the exchange, fans took to Twitter to talk about the pleasantries. J. Cole is one of the biggest stars in hip-hop and just like LeBron, his brand is global. Seeing the two of them come together in the middle of a game was significant for a lot of people, even if the exchange last just a few seconds.
Here's what people had to say.
LeBron James Roasted For His Pre-Game Outfit Prior To Lakers Win
Troy Daniels got hit with some remarks too.
NBA players have become known for their fashion choices as of late although it's not always for the right reasons. Some of the league's biggest fashionistas are roasted by fans on a nightly basis because they wear clothes that are questionable, at best. Last night, it was LeBron James who was the subject of some ruthless roasts at the hands of NBA Twitter-dwellers.
Prior to the game, the Los Angeles Lakers posted the outfits of LeBron James and Troy Daniels. Both men we wearing long coats in complete opposite colors. For instance, LeBron's was blue and Daniels' was pink. From there, LeBron had a colorful zip-up shirt and shoes to match. While there isn't anything wrong with these outfits, fans made sure to get their two cents in.
It's important to note that the opinions of these fans don't really match up with our own. Every time an athlete wears an outfit that is even a tad outside the norm, fans have something negative to say about it. In most cases, these fans are the same people who still wear Ecko hoodies and boot cut jeans over some Osiris sneakers. Either way, we're sure LeBron and Daniels will survive these vicious roasts, just fine.
Vanessa Hudgens Spotted At Lakers Game In NYC Amid Kyle Kuzma Rumors
Kuzma is winning off the court.
Just yesterday, we reported that Kyle Kuzma of the Los Angeles Lakers was spotted on a dinner date with Vanessa Hudgens. Hudgens has been to a few Lakers games recently and has even been creeping in Kuzma's IG comments. When it was revealed that the two finally went on a date, fans weren't very surprised as they pretty well saw it coming. The reactions were pretty polarizing as many congratulated Kuzma while others called for him to be traded.
Now, it seems as though Hudgens is showing even more support to Kuzma as she was spotted at the Lakers game last night. The match was played at Madison Square Garden and the Lakers won 100-92. In fact, Hudgens was spotted taking a few selfies throughout the course of the evening.
Kuzma is an entertaining player who has a ton of great scoring ability. This season has been a bit of a struggle for him and now, there are rumors that he could be traded. The Detroit Pistons are one of the teams being thrown around although it remains to be seen whether or not he's dealt.
For now, Kuzma is simply enjoying his time in Los Angeles. At this point, that's all he can really do.
Zion Williamson Reacts To His First Game With The Pelicans: Watch
Zion had himself a game.
Zion Williamson finally made his NBA debut last night after a knee injury kept him out for months. Williamson went into the game with a lot of hype surrounding him so there was pressure to be one of the best players on the court. While on a minutes restriction, Williamson didn't disappoint as he scored 22 points and 7 rebounds in just 18 minutes of action. This included 17-straight points in the fourth quarter which gave his team the lead. Head coach Alvin Gentry eventually removed Zion from the game and the Pelicans lost.
After the game, Zion was asked about his debut and what he thought about the entire ordeal. The game was played in New Orleans and Williamson received a ton of love from the crowd. Zion recognized all of it and was grateful for his warm reception.
“It was everything I dreamed of, except the losing part," Williamson said. "The energy the city brought, it was electric. I’m just grateful they did that. It was a dream come true.”
As the season goes on, Williamson will continue to be on a minutes restriction thanks to his proneness for injuries. The Pelicans want to make sure their investment is safe for the long haul which you can't blame them for. Hopefully, Williamson can get himself to 100 percent so he can dominate the league for years to come.
