We were expecting Lil Wayne to release his new album Funeral last night but we did not anticipate waking up to some brand new music from Drake and Future. Mere weeks following the release of their collaborative single "Life Is Good," the ultra-potent duo has returned with a brand new leak, quietly distributing "Desires" the OVO SoundCloud and letting the head honcho do some very minor promotion on social media. Now that fans have had the chance to consume the new joint for a few hours, reactions are pouring in across the internet with people hailing the duo as "toxic kings."
"Drake and Future really get on tracks and try to out toxic each other, I love it," wrote one fan of the new song on Twitter, which echoes a sentiment felt by nearly all of its listeners. If you dissect the content being presented by Drake and Future on the fresh record, the two are seriously flexing by saying they would move a girl out to "the sticks" where nobody could find her. However, if that ain't the most insecure and anxiety-inducing thing you've ever heard, we've got a problem.
People are loving the song thus far but, as far as the lyrics go, Drake and Future are being praised as leaders of the real-life toxic movement. Hopefully, this leak brings us closer to the arrival of a WATTBA sequel. What do you think of "Desires"?
Joe Budden Confirms Lloyd Banks Is Dropping New Music: "He Cookin"
The return of Lloyd Banks may be near!
Former G-Unit star Lloyd Banks has been extremely quiet on the music front, chiming in here and there with a social media post hinting at his return but never really following through on those feelers. Earlier this month, the punchline king cryptically noted that he believes he's about to "relapse," which could either have been something terrible or incredible. If he were talking about alcohol or drugs, that would have been a tragedy. However, his fans fell under the impression that music was on Banks' mind and they may have been correct. During a recent Twitter outpouring, Joe Budden told the world that he might know something about Banks that we don't.

In the midst of a rant about Justin Bieber and how he seemingly "needs" the hip-hop and R&B communities to thrive these days, a fan asked Joe Budden to quit whining about the pop star and tell Lloyd Banks to drop some new music. Surprisingly enough, the podcaster actually responded and his reply was favorable.
"He cookin," wrote Budden, in response to a fan who begged for Lloyd Banks to drop something. While this isn't as credible as a tweet from the man himself, Budden's ties to Banks lead us to believe there's definitely some truth behind this. Budden is one of the most knowledgable men in the industry and he holds tons of secrets about what's really going on behind-the-scenes. Maybe he's been in the studio with Banks?
M.I.A. Set To Make Her 2020 Return With New Music Dropping This Week
M.I.A. welcomed fans to join her in “exploring planets and platforms” beginning January 31st.
After what’s felt like forever — OK, a little over three-and-a-half years, but still! — international rap-singer M.I.A. will finally be dropping new music on the pop world, and it’s slated to arrive as early as this coming Friday.
“NEW DECADE, NEW MIA, EXPLORING PLANETS AND PLATFORMS, JOIN ME, JAN 31ST 2020,” was all she wrote to describe the new tunes Instagram (seen above), accompanied by a short sound preview that sounds exactly like what we’d expect from the eclectic musician. Big bass, catchy vibes and culturally-significant sonics that play into her Sri Lankan roots are what we’re picking up on from the first listen. The post was also paired with a video in the second slide, which shows M.I.A. donning pink hair and mouthing something that could be lyrics or could be the title of the song/album she’s gearing up to release this week. We’ll let the super fans decode that one, but for now we’re just excited to know that one of pop music’s most forward-thinking and oftentimes politically-driven voices will be doing it all over again to start off the next era in her career. We love to see it!
Expect M.I.A. to make her return to music this Friday (January 31), but peep one of her last singles off 2016’s AIM that could give us a hint at what vibe she’s on now:
Meghan Trainor Brings Nicki Minaj Out Of Retirement With A Collab Dropping This Week
We can't wait to hear what a Meghan x Minaj track sounds like!
The Barbz empire came to a sudden halt when Nicki Minaj announced her retirement from music towards the end of last year. Granted, the Queen emcee did confirm that she wasn't completely removing herself from the realm of rap, as we saw evident with her Karol G collaboration titled "Tusa" in November 2019. Well, it now looks like she'll be returning once again by pairing with a very peculiar collaborator: pop sensation Meghan Trainor.
The "All About That Bass" singer tweeted out the news earlier today (seen above), saying that the collaboration will be called "Nice To Meet Ya" and is set to drop this Friday. Based off the seven-second preview that accompanied the tweet, the beat sounds crazy and the hook is also pretty catchy as well. Meg heads will also be happy to know that her album, Treat Myself, will arrive on the same day as well to make for a pop-filled weekend that just so happens to be accompanied by a new set of bars from the Nickster. As the song teases a very upbeat vibe, we're sure this one will be all over Top 40 radio just off the strength of hearing something new from one of the rap's most domineering personalities. We can't wait to see the video!
Check for "Nice To Meet Ya" by Meghan Trainor featuring Nicki Minaj to arrive this Friday (January 31), and let us know your thoughts on this union down in the comments.
Travis Scott and Nav Preview New Music In The Club: Watch The Video
Travis Scott and Nav have something in the works.
Despite coming off of the biggest year in his career, Travis Scott has continued to stay in the studio pumping out new content and experimenting with new compositions. Coming off of the heels of his new Cactus Jack Records collaborative musical offering, JackBoys (2019), and still thriving off of the success of his latest solo effort, Astroworld (2018), Travis Scott previewed a track he produced alongside XO rapper, Nav.
At an undisclosed location, both Nav and Travis Scott sat behind a DJ booth with a laptop that contained the unreleased track. The red-tinted room filled with fortunate first-time listeners were able to receive the audio in the perfect environment. The two artists stood side by side, necks full of glistening jewelry, nodding in rhythm to the instrumentation of the song. From the audible components of the track, both Nav and Travis Scott utilized heavy amounts of autotune while splitting their verses to short eight-bar increments.
While Nav might have had an online spat with Akademiks recently, Nav has been able to produce a quality body of work in the form of his latest LP, Bad Habits (2019), which dropped early last year. With how much music Travis Scott is known to hoard, there’s no telling when this collaboration will be available for the masses to partake in. But for now, check out the clip of Nav and Travis Scott previewing their joint song in the video provided below.
Demi Lovato To Debut Song At The GRAMMYs That Details Pre-Overdose Struggles
She considered the song to be a “cry for help.”
As the 2020 GRAMMY Awards ceremony draws nearer — we’re just two days away! — many music fans are excited to see some of today’s biggest artists hit the stage for what’s sure to be a memorable night. However, one singer that everyone is looking to see is Demi Lovato as she makes her way back to performing following a rough couple of years that involved overcoming an overdose and other personal demons.
Looking as beautiful as ever in her official GRAMMY performer announcement post (seen above), Demi has been a voice for many people recently who are combating various issues in their own lives. Speaking with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe, she describes the forthcoming single titled “Anyone” as a “special” song that acted as a “cry for help” as she was recording it just days before her now-infamous 2018 overdose.”This song was written and recorded actually very shortly before everything happened,” Demi tells Zane, following up by saying, “I recorded the vocals for it four days before [July 20].” She also mentions her confusion as to why nobody who heard the track beforehand could tell that she needed help, even saying she wishes she could “go back in time” and help that version of herself. Overall, we’re just glad the pop starlet is on the road to recovery and we continue to pray for her well-being.
Listen to Demi Lovato’s interview with Zane Lowe for Apple Music below to hear her full explanation of “Anybody,” and be sure to watch her perform it live at the 2020 Grammys this Sunday (Jan 26) at 8PM ET/5PM PT on CBS:
Boosie Badazz & NBA YoungBoy Are Prepping A Collabo Album
Those Lousiana boys have been working.
While the collabo album appears to have peaked in 2017, there remain a few in the pipeline. As it happens, Louisiana’s own Boosie Badazz and Youngboy Never Broke Again have been working on a new project, as revealed Instagram. Unveiling the teaser his story, Boosie shared a clip of himself and his young protege turning up to one of their bangers. “New album YB/Boosie coming soon,” he writes, as YoungBoy raps along to his verse.

From the sound of it, the piano-driven track is another hard addition to the catalog, with YoungBoy rapping like a man possessed. Ever since catching a legal break, he appears more focused than ever; between this and his upcoming back-and-forth duet with Offset, YoungBoy fans are likely to leave 2020 good and satisfied. As for Boosie, well, he’s always reliable to drop off some heat.
Unfortunately, all we have to go off is a mysterious “coming soon,” a phrase with which rap fans have a complicated relationship. In today’s climate, it can mean two weeks. On the other hand, it could mean months. Luckily, YoungBoy and Boosie alike are about as prolific as they come – expect this one sooner than later, especially if they’ve already finished the bulk of it.

The Weeknd Teases Fans With Still From Brand New Music Video
Abel has something up his sleeves.
The Weeknd is one of those megastars that everyone is always demanding music from. The last time we got a full-length project from The Weeknd, it was all the way back in 2016 with Starboy. Now, fans are looking for a lot more and they got near the tail end of 2019 as the artist dropped two singles: "Heartless" and " Blinding Lights." The visual for "Heartless" has already been released and now, fans are waiting for the "Blinding Lights" music video.
Recently, the Canadian singer took to Twitter and Instagram with an image of himself and a woman with the caption "tomorrow." Based on his other Instagram posts, it appears as though the singer is gearing up to release a music video and fans are extremely excited.
It remains to be seen what this video is for, exactly. Of course, the most likely option is that it's specifically for "Blinding Lights." Some fans are optimistic that this could actually be for a new track that no one has ever heard before. Either way, it's safe to say we're excited to see what Abel is about to hit us with.
Stay tuned for updates on what The Weeknd drops tomorrow as we will be sure to bring them to you.
Migos Playfully Tease "Culture 3" As Anticipation Continues To Build
Migos are gearing up for a huge release.
At the beginning of 2017, Migos hit us with what would eventually become their magnum opus, Culture. The album was an instant classic in the trap music genre as they took their signature sound and made it more melodic. Songs like “T-Shirt,” “Bad and Boujee,” and “What The Price” became huge singles that dominated hip-hop radio and playlists for the entire year. The following year, Culture 2 came out as the sequel to their big project. While this album didn’t get the same critical acclaim, it was still jam-packed with big records.
For the last two years, fans have been begging for a third installment and it looks like their prayers will be answered in the not-so-distant future. Last night, Offset took to Instagram with a photo of himself next to Takeoff and Quavo. “CULTURE 3 2020 LAST CHAPTER,” he wrote in the caption. Essentially, you can expect the album to drop this year.
What’s also interesting about this post is the admission that this is, in fact, the last Culture album. The series has been incredibly popular for Migos so far and this next installment will surely be yet another example of their growth in the music industry. The group has been hard at work to get this project out to the masses and we can’t wait to see what they come up with.
Let us know in the comments below what you’re hoping to get in this next installment of the Culture series.
