With all of the protests that took place this weekend and will surely continue to impact the country all week, Gunna is having a hard time celebrating one of the most momentous times in his career. Normally, a #1 album would be enough reason to celebrate. After all, many artists dream of achieving something like this in their careers but, right now, it all seems so arbitrary.
There are much more important things affecting us in the world right now, putting music and the arts in the background for the time being. We all need to remain fearless in our fight for equality following the preventable death of George Floyd. Gunna knows that and he's speaking out about it on his social pages.

"It’s hard celebrating a #1 album when the world is Hurting," wrote the Atlanta star on Twitter. Some people called on him to make more of a direct impact on the fight against racial injustice, asking him to donate funds and step out to support the people protesting. Others were glad that he even addressed the topic at all.
With 111,000 equivalent album units moved for WUNNA, the album becomes his first-ever project to debut at #1 on the Billboard 200. Congratulations to him.
Adam Silver Sends Memo To NBA Teams Addressing Racial Injustice
Adam Silver wants NBA teams to look inward and reflect during these uncertain times.
Protests continue to rage on throughout the United States following the police murder of George Floyd in Minneapolis, Minnesota. There have been numerous statements made by high profile athletes and now, NBA commissioner Adam Silver is making a statement of his own.
The vast majority of NBA players are black and Adam Silver understands that it is up to the league to support their players and become allies during this time. In an internal memo sent to each individual team, Silver urged staff to reflect on what's happening while also listening to those who have to face injustice on a daily basis.
“This moment also requires greater introspection from those of us, including me, who may never know the full pain and fear many of our colleagues and players experience every day,” Silver wrote. “We have to reach out, listen to each other and work together to be part of the solution. And as an organization, we need to do everything in our power to make a meaningful difference. Even in this sad and difficult time, I know we can.”
Silver acknowledges that many NBA players have had negative run-ins with police and the commissioner is hoping for real changes to be made. When the NBA eventually comes back, we will surely see the players come together in solidarity in light of what has happened.
Jon Jones Goes After Vandals In New Mexico Amid Protests
Jon Jones is sick of people hijacking the George Floyd protests to cause mischief.
Protests continue to manifest throughout the United States in light of the police killing of George Floyd. People have had enough of police brutality and are trying to make a genuine change so that these incidents never happen again. However, some people have been hijacking the movement to cause mischief and vandalism.
Last night in New Mexico, UFC legend Jon Jones went out and took matters into his own hands as he confronted vandals on the street and took paint cans away from them. In the clip below, Jones can be seen going off on those who would rather cause destruction than make a real difference. He also offered his take on what’s happening through a strongly worded caption.
Per Jones:
“Is this shit even about George Floyd anymore?!? Why the fuck are you punk ass teenagers destroying our cities!?? ?? As a young black man trust me I’m frustrated as well but this is not the way, we are starting to make a bad situation worse. If you really got love for your city (505), protect your shit. All you old heads need to speak up, call your young family members and tell them to come home tonight.”
Throughout the next few days, we will surely see protests continue to ramp up all across the country. With this in mind, we urge those protesting to stay safe and that we support them during this time.
Dennis Rodman Urges For Looting To End, Calls Rioters "Animals"
Dennis Rodman released a new video on Instagram called "Rest In Power George Floyd."
Dennis Rodman was always an extremely vocal player both on and off the court during his playing days. He has also proven himself to be engaged politically although not in the ways you might expect. Of course, we mean his relationship with North Korean dictator Kim Jong-Un. Regardless, Rodman has a large platform, and last night, he spoke up about all of the protests going on throughout the United States.
In a video posted to Instagram called "Rest In Power George Floyd," Rodman spoke about the looting and rioting that is going on. While he wants justice for Floyd, he seems to be appalled by those causing destruction and said “we’re human beings, not f–king animals.”
View this post on InstagramPlease America let’s stop the rioting and all come together as one. Y’all stay safe!! Much ❤️
“I think someone needs to come out and say, ‘Hey, guys, why are we looting? Why are we stealing? Why are we creating more issues, more problems?” Rodman said. “This is a bad, bad situation. But the fact that you’re gonna protest, protest in the right way. You don’t have to go and burn down things, steal things, burn things and stuff like that.”
Rodman's sentiments are ones that are shared by many although it is important to note that many of the people protesting are trying to stop the rioters. Numerous Twitter videos have shown Black Lives Matter supporters standing in front of businesses so that masked vandals don't break any windows.
As protests continue to rage throughout the country, we urge all of you to stay safe.
Young M.A. Helps Atlanta Fan Who Got Stopped By Police
Young M.A. helped de-escalate a situation between one of her fans and Atlanta police after she was pulled over for "blocking traffic."
Young M.A. is helping out in Atlanta, Georgia right now by doing what she can to fight for racial justice in America. Things have taken a serious turn in the country with protests taking place all weekend as property is destroyed and a message is sent. The people will not stand to be treated as second-rate humans anymore, standing united and voicing their concerns.
The Red Flu rapper was interacting with one of her fans, who pulled over on the side of the street to speak with her. When two police officers pulled her over for "stopping traffic" even though she had pulled to the side, Young M.A. got involved and shouted at the cops, getting a crowd to gather for fifteen minutes until the woman was let off with a warning.
Amy Sussman/Getty ImagesDuring the situation, one of the officers called for back-up, which brought two extra cops to the scene. M.A. didn't let up until her fan was allowed to leave with a verbal warning and nothing more, doing her part to help out.
"She came up to me showing love as a fan, bro," yelled the rapper as she cruised in her car following the altercation. "And them n***as pulled her over 'cause she was in the middle of traffic. And we all pulled up, five cars deep, all police. We don't want no smoke, we don't want no problems. But you not gon' do that to my fans, though."
She goes on to say that she doesn't mean to disrespect the officers who "didn't do the most" according to her, but she's proud that she was able to help de-escalate the situation.

Foot Locker In Chicago Looted For All Of Its Merchandise
A Foot Locker on 54th and Wentworth in Chicago was looted for everything on Sunday night.
Ever since the police killing of George Floyd, there have been various protests all throughout the country. For the most part, these protests have been peaceful but as soon as the police show up, they tend to escalate things and it all gets out of hand. Not to mention, some people, who aren’t even engaging in the actual protests, are looting and vandalizing stores as a way to profit off of everything that is going on.
That is exactly what happened in Chicago last night as a strip mall located on 54th and Wentworth was completely looted. As you can see in the video below provided by a local CBS affiliate, a Foot Locker was broken into and it seems like nothing is left in the store. Many masked looters emerged from the store with boxes of shoes in their hands and made off with the merchandise.
The surrounding stores were also looted pretty heavily and you can see all of the carnage in front of the stores. These acts are certainly disturbing although you can’t help but feel like this anger has been building up for years.
Numerous stores throughout the country have experienced this same fate over the last few days and it remains to be seen what the fallout will be.
Stay tuned for updates as we will be sure to bring them to you.

Denzel Curry Pens Powerful Statement On Racial Injustice
Following the deaths of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, and Breonna Taylor, Denzel Curry took to Twitter to gather his thoughts.
Following the tragic deaths of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, and Breonna Taylor, many have felt compelled to stand up in the face of racial injustice -- a systemic injustice that has claimed the lives and shattered the safety of black people for years. Even now, disgraced police officer Derek Chauvin's fate remains uncertain, with questions on whether George Floyd's murderer will end up doing significant jail time to begin with.

Amidst all the pain that these killings have caused, the entire hip-hop community has been mobilizing. Several rappers have already issued statements; some have taken to the streets alongside the people to demand justice. For Denzel Curry, the scars of police brutality run deep. In March of 2014, Denzel's brother Treon Johnson was killed after sustaining fatal injuries at the hands of police officers, who tased and pepper-sprayed Johnson into a state of sepsis. Yesterday, Denzel took to Twitter to share a powerful reflection on current events.
"After looking at most of your comments in my last few posts about the current situation happening in the U.S.A," begins Denzel, addressing his fans and supporters. "It seems a lot of you are Extremely insensitive, Extremely Ignorant, and most likely come from places where you don’t have to face the prejudices that my people face on a daily basis. To you I’m just an entertainer and I’m suppose to dance for your support of my music and craft but now I’m here to say FUCK ALL THAT. We are living in one of the worst times in America."
"It’s even got to the point that I don’t even want to consider myself as an American, most people don’t treat us as Americans let alone human," he continues. "Most of you say there’s no reason to riot but in our defense there’s no reason to be killing my people. The tension in the United States has got me at a crossroads and I’m here to tell you it’s either you With Me or Against Me. I don’t agree with senseless violence and that goes for both ends... I advocate for doing the right thing."
Our thoughts go out to Denzel Curry, and everyone hurting as a result of systemic racism and police brutality. Rest in peace to George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, and Breonna Taylor.
Tokyo Jetz Faces Backlash For Tasteless George Floyd Joke
Tokyo Jetz made a joke that she would "George Floyd" her hairstylist while on Instagram Live.
Our nation is in serious pain right now after the preventable deaths of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, and countless other people of color who have lost their lives to police brutality and racist attacks in the last several months. As protests intensify, people continue to be outraged over the treatment of people of color in the world. Nobody should be treated as though they are a second-rate human and the fight will not stop until everyone is considered equal.
Tokyo Jetz, a rapper signed to Grand Hustle, is facing some major backlash for making insensitive comments on her social media channel, broadcasting her day on Instagram Live and playing around with her hairstylist. During the Live, the rapper put her hairdresser in a headlock and made the following joke: "I'ma George Floyd your muthafuckin’ ass."
George Floyd was killed last week after a since-fired police officer kneeled on his neck, restricting his airway for several minutes. He was suspected of using a counterfeit $20 bill.
"The fact that u could even say that... @REALTOKYOJETZ shit not a joke ! CANCELED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!," said one person.
A number of others are standing tall as critics pick her apart for mocking the death of George Floyd, especially when so many other celebrities and people in her position have been using their platforms to uplift people of color and protest in the streets.
What do you make of what she said?
Virgil Abloh Roasted On Social Media For George Floyd Response
Many are upset with Virgil Abloh following his response to the George Floyd protests.
Virgil Abloh is perhaps the biggest name in all of streetwear and fashion right now although as it stands, he is catching quite a bit of heat on social media thanks to his recent stance on all of the protests going on across the United States. Following the death of George Floyd, people are upset and amongst the peaceful protesters, there have also been some riots and destruction of property.
Fellow streetwear influencer Sean Wotherspoon had his store vandalized and Abloh decided to take aim at those who did it claiming he was disgusted. This led to a strong reaction from fans who felt like Abloh was dismissing the concerns of the protesters. Later on, Abloh tried to rectify his comments with a $50 donation to a bail fund, which prompted even more social media vitriol.
The vast majority of the criticism stemmed from the fact that Abloh sells clothes for an obscene amount of money and that a pair of Off-White socks costs way more than the $50 he donated. While people can be supportive in any way they see fit, some fans were disappointed at how little Abloh wanted to contribute to such an important cause.
Abloh's name is still trending on social media and the memes were certainly flying. Check out some of the reactions, below.
Wale Shades J. Cole Following George Floyd Protest
Wale deleted a post shading J. Cole after this weekend’s protests.
The world is hurting. For the duration of the last week, protests have been aplenty as we fight back against racial injustice. The public is having their voice be heard and, in Fayetteville, North Carolina, the famed rapper J. Cole joined along to march and chant for the equal treatment of people of color in America.
Photos circulated on social media, showing the rapper participating in one of the organized protests in his city. While his efforts were being praised by the majority of his fans, one person took the opportunity to throw a shot at Wale, asking him what he was doing to support Black Likes Matter at this time. The rapper has been using his platform to spread awareness but he was clearly pissed at the remark, deciding to shade Cole in his response.
Mike Coppola/Getty Images“I’m sick of a lot of u acting like y’all messiah was the only one outside suck my dick,” wrote Wale on Twitter. The controversial message has since been removed from his feed.
Wale is seemingly angry that people are only paying attention to J. Cole’s efforts at this needy time, failing to recognize all that he has done to raise awareness and fight back himself.
Do you think he was wrong in snapping like this?
