It’s a huge year for Lil Baby and clearly, the brief break he took in 2019 was well worth it in the long-run. His sophomore album My Turn became one of the hottest albums of the year that will more than likely end up on a few year-end lists. The project signifies Baby’s claim in the rap game as one of the few new rappers to emerge that will have longevity.
He returned with the deluxe edition of the album that included an additional six tracks a few months later but clearly, it’s still on rotation for many. This week, it topped the Billboard 200 for the second time with 65K units moved. Surprisingly, it also dethrones Lady Gaga from the top spot on the chart.
There are a couple of factors that play into the album’s return to the top of the Billboard 200 after thirteen weeks. For one, none of the albums that dropped last week even entered the top 40 on the Billboard 200, though there weren’t many albums that were released that week int he first place. Additionally, Lil Baby’s new album has been steadily picking up on streams since its release in late February.
In related news, the rapper just released his new single, “The Bigger Picture” on Friday along with visuals filmed during the protests in Atlanta earlier this month.
