This year's Academy Awards were historic for so many reasons. Parasite (2019) made history becoming the first non-English film to win the Academy Award for Best Picture as well as sweeping their categories for Best International Feature Film, Best Original Screenplay, and Best Director. While Parasite was the talk of the evening, 35-year-old actor, Zack Gottsagen also made Oscars history becoming the first person with down syndrome to ever present an Academy Award.
This past Sunday, Zack Gottsegen and his Peanut Butter Falcon (2019) co-star, Shia LeBeouf, got the opportunity to present the award for Best Live Action Short Film. Shia LeBeouf began reading off the teleprompter introducing the category and as it became time for Gottsagen to read his portion of the script, he briefly paused, provoking LeBeouf to help out his collaborator and friend. While Gottsegen might have briefly struggled, he successfully presented the award while LeBeouf nervously laughed releasing the tension from the room.
Somehow, LeBeouf's attempt to help Gottsagen and playful giggle didn't go over well with some patrons around the internet causing Gottsagen's mother to step in and clarify LeBeouf's intentions. During a brief interview with Too Fab, Zack's mother, Shelley Gottsagen, revealed that her son and the Honey Boy (2019) creator share an authentic friendship and true bond, as she stated:
"I would hate to see any misconception out there. I mean, you know, Shia is just wonderful, you know, we really love him. If anything, I think they were grinning because it was hard to get the envelope open."
Shelley revealed that Shia would never have a "negative attitude" in regards to her son, as she continued:
"They love each other [and] really encourage each other. Shia's been very supportive of Zack as an actor, his professionalism. [He] did a lot with promoting the movie, you know, which, Shia always doesn't—that's not really his thing, but he did it for Zack."
Honey Boy director, Alma Har'el also came to the defense of LaBeouf, Tweeting:
"Shia was offered to present an Oscar. He said he would do it if he can share that moment with his beloved co-star Zack Gottsagen who we all adore."
While Shia LeBeouf nervously laughing was clearly taken out of context, his friends and family know the genuine connection he and Zack Gottsagen share. Check out Zack make history by becoming the first person with down syndrome to present an Academy Award in the video provided below.
Jennifer Lopez Fans Joke About Stealing An Oscar After "Hustlers" Snub
Jenny might not have scored an Oscar nom this year, but the block had her back.
This past Sunday was a historic night as the 92nd Annual Academy Awards aired live from Los Angeles in front of a packed house of Hollywood hopefuls. Despite the obvious (and anonymous) bigotry instilled within the Academy, Parasite (2019) became the first non-English film in history to win Best Picture. The film's director, Bong Joon Ho, also earned honors for Best Director, Best International Feature Film, and Best Original Screenplay sweeping the Oscars in their respective categories. However, there were a lot of casual film fans that believe that one Bronx-bred actress turned pop phenom in Jennifer Lopez should have been nominated in the Best Supporting Actress category for her performance as Ramona in Hustlers (2019).
Footage of some employees removing a giant Oscar statue from the red carpet caught the attention of one EW writer who joking captioned the clip, "THEY'RE STEALING IT FOR JENNIFER LOPEZ!" Prior to the show airing and throughout the entire ceremony fans of J.Lo bombarded the timeline with hot takes claiming that the "Medicine" singer was not only deserving of a nomination for Best Supporting Actress but should have won it for playing the devious stripper, Ramona. Check out some of the Tweets in support of Jennifer Lopez below:
While Jennifer Lopez might have been snubbed, it was Laura Dern who took home the Best Supporting Actress Award for her performance in Marriage Story (2019). Coming off of one of the most controversial Super Bowl halftime performances in recent years and hopping back into the music game head-first, Jennifer Lopez is having one of the greatest resurgences into the realm of mainstream entertainment and she's doing it all at the age of 50.

2020 Oscars Ratings Were The Lowest Ever
Even though it ranked as the most-watched awards show, the annual Oscars ceremony continues to slide down in the ratings department.
There were a lot of memorable moments from the 92nd Annual Academy Awards last night (February 9), however none were enough to get many cinephiles to actually tune in. In short, the 2020 Oscars ceremony ended up being the biggest ratings dud in the show’s 91-year history.

Even with Parasite achieving a historic “Best Picture” win, an unexpected performance of “Lose Yourself” by Eminem, Brad Pitt finally getting his roses in the “Best Supporting Actor” category, Spike Lee paying homage to Kobe Bryant with his red carpet look (seen above) and a very, very surprising appearance from Blac Chyna, the 2020 Oscars still bowed out with record-low ratings tallied at about 23.6 million viewers and a 5.3 rating among adults 18-49. Compared to the 2019 ceremony, which garnered 29.56 million and a 7.7 rating, the 6 million deficit unfortunately continued a ratings slide that has been occurring for years now. Some blame it on the timing, as the show aired for over three hours, ending at 11:32 PM ET, and was broadcasted weeks earlier than past ceremonies. This also marks the second year in a row that the Academy Awards went without a host, and it was also filled with music monologues that had many (i.e. Billie Eilish) frowning in disappointment.
What do you think was the reason the 2020 Oscars failed in terms of ratings? Let us know your thoughts down in the comments.
G-Eazy Reveals The Situation With Megan Thee Stallion
G-Eazy speaks on that viral video of him kissing Megan Thee Stallion at Oscars afterparty.
After a video went viral of G-Eazy sucking on Megan Thee Stallion’s face last week, Meg insisted that they are not “fucking”. However, we were still left wondering why G-Eazy was sucking on her face and rubbing her thigh then. Meg waited a whole 24 hours to offer this clarification Twitter, all the while many of her fans were disavowing this potential pairing. The Houston hottie called out the haters by tweeting, “Lol alright nowww y’all got all y’all jokes out.” When a fan begged for some sort of explanation for that steamy video with Gerald, Meg joked, “He like Fenty,” referring to Rihanna‘s makeup products that she had on her cheek.
So, it’s now a whole week later and we have still not reached a conclusion regarding what went down between the two rappers. On Sunday night (Feb. 10), while attending the 28th Annual Elton John AIDS Foundation Academy Awards Viewing Party in Los Angeles, G-Eazy was asked about the rumored relationship by reporters. “We’re just friends,” he said, according to People.

This short response does not provide us with any interesting information. Was the whole thing a mere publicity stunt? That would make sense, considering both Meg and G-Eazy waited a day to dead all the speculation when they must have known the Internet was erupting in a frenzy about it. After all, following his split from Meg, Moneybagg Yo claimed in an Instagram Story that “rap game fulla smoke & mirrors” and that their relationship was “all publicity.”
Oscars 2020: Best-Dressed & Worst-Dressed On The Red Carpet
Which Hollywood star had the best drip?
If award shows teach us anything, it’s that we can’t all be winners. Red carpets are always walked by some who dazzle and others who disappoint. The good news is that an unfortunate fit does not necessarily reflect poorly on the celeb donning it nor does it discount whatever great work they may have participated in the past year that led to them attending the ceremony. When it comes to Hollywood, we can place the blame on the often-unnamed stylists and keep it moving with no hostility in our hearts.
Elton John wowed the audience with a performance of “(I’m Gonna) Love Me Again”, but also with his neon running shoes. Aside from his shoes, the glitter king shined with sparkly sunglasses and a diamond bow-tie. If you’ve seen Best Picture-nominee, Jojo Rabbit, you were likely obsessed with the friendship between Jojo and Yorki. Turns out the young actors who played those roles, Roman Griffin Davis and Archie Yates, are just as tight in real life and seeing them together on the red carpet was awesome. Billie Eilish, who performed a Beatles cover during the in memoriam tribute, rocked an over-sized (obviously) tweed Chanel suit that looked quite comfy. As phenomenal of a film Little Women was, the cast members were not style icons on Sunday night. Timothee Chalamet, while usually whipping up some fresh fits, wore a rather boring Prada tracksuit of sorts. Laura Dern and Kristen Wiig, we love you both endlessly, but those dresses were not it.

Chris Rock Roasts Amazon CEO, Jeff Bezos, During Oscars Monologue
Chris Rock & Steve Martin own the Academy Awards crowd.
The 92nd annual Academy Awards are officially under the way and the festivities were perfectly kicked off with an amazing performance by Janelle Monae honoring the late, great Mr. Rogers. And with the Oscars choosing to go without a host for the second consecutive year in a row, it was a surprise when ex-Oscar emcees and comedians, Chris Rock and Steve Martin took the stage side-by-side to provide attendees with some temporary entertainment prior to revealing this year's award winners.

The two accomplished comedians stood on stage initially engaging in a classic comedy self-deprecating standoff before turning their attention to those in the crowd. Chris Rock personally went on to poke fun at two-time Oscar winner, Mahershala Ali, Brad Pitt, Martin Scorsese, the Academy itself, and more. Rock stated in reference to Scorsese's Netflix film:
"I loved the first season of The Irishman," before turning his attention to Ali saying, "Mahershala Ali is a two-time Oscar-winner. Do you know what that means if he is pulled over by cops in LA? Nothing."
Without a single female filmmaker nominated for Best Director this year, Chris Rock addressed the elephant in the room, the only way he knows how, with the joke. Steve Martin initiated the conversation saying:
"I thought there was something missing from the list of directors this year," Martin said. To which Rock replied, "Vaginas."
Then the comedians turned actors took it upon themselves to roast none other than the CEO of Amazon, Jeff Bezos. Chris Rock proudly announced:
"Jeff Bezos is here. He’s got cash, when he writes the cash, the bank bounces." Rock continued, "Jeff is so rich, he got divorced and he’s still the richest man in the world. He saw Marriage Story and thought it was a comedy."
The Fargo actor then turned to Steve Martin and stated, "Steve, do you have anything you want to add about Mr. Bezos?" he asked. To which Martin bashfully replied, "No, I like getting my packages on time."

Anonymous Oscar Voter Believes "Parasite" Shouldn’t Be Nominated With "Regular Films"
One Oscar voter is exposing themselves... Kinda.
Since its release, Parasite (2019), has racked up a total of 26 awards including a Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture, a Golden Globe Award for Best Foreign Language Film, a Writers Guild of America Award for Best Original Screenplay, and many more. Now, the South Korean-bred film is nominated for six Academy Awards including Best Original Screenplay, Best Director, and Best Picture. And while the movie has been receiving well-deserved praise of film critics and moviegoers alike, one anonymous Oscar voter believes that the flick that shouldn't be nominated with 'regular movies.'

For those unaware, Parasite, is a South Korean film written and directed by Bong Joon-Ho, who fused elements of comedy, suspense, and drama into a piece of visual literature following a poor family who attempts to infiltrate themselves into the home of a well off family before they find themselves entangled in an unsuspecting situation that would change their lives forever.
While the film does happen to be in Korean, this piece of cinematography hasn't gone unnoticed for its execution around the globe. Unfortunately, one Oscar voter revealed to The Hollywood Reporter, her voting method and her thought process behind choosing three films ahead of Parasite due to the film not 'holding up' after being viewed multiple times, the anonymous voter wrote:
"Parasite is beautifully done, but it didn't hold up the second time, and I don't think foreign films should be nominated with the regular films."
The unidentified Academy member then went on to explain why she voted for Quentin Tarantino in the Best Director category for Once Upon a Time in Hollywood (2019), claiming he should be honored for "a great American movie." The faceless voter then doubled down on her fascist rhetoric outright stating:
"I want an American director to win."
After winning the award for Best Foreign Film at the Golden Globes last month, Parasite director, Bong Joon-Ho had this to say during his acceptance speech:
"Once you overcome the one-inch tall barrier of subtitles, you will be introduced to so many more amazing films. Just being nominated along with fellow, amazing international filmmakers was a huge honor. I think we use only one language: the cinema."
True fans of cinema have been well-aware that South Korea has been producing some of the best cinema in existence for decades with movies like I Saw The Devil (2010), Oldboy (2003), and The Man from Nowhere (2010). However, if Academy voters share the same mindset as this anonymous person, the art of film is one that suffers.
Parasite has been so successful, an HBO series adaptation of the film is currently in development with the premium cable network. Check out the trailer for Parasite in the video provided below.
Kevin Hart Admits He "F*cked Up" Oscars Hosting Gig In New Interview
Kevin Hart reflects on how problematic his old Tweets were and how he could have handled the Oscars hosting controversy differently.
There’s no denying that Kevin Hart is one of the hardest working individuals in show business. His recently released Netflix docuseries, Don’t F**k This Up (2020), provided his fans and critics with an introspective and brutally honest look at his life behind the scenes as he toured the globe his friends, interacted with his father and family, and battled several different controversies. Now, the Laugh At My Pain comedian is providing the masses with another inside look of his life in a new Men’s Health magazine interview where he’s admitting he handles the 2019 Oscars hosting dispute poorly.

After agreeing to host the 2019 91st Annual Academy Awards, some of Kevin Hart’s old Tweets resurfaced, some of which containing homophobic and anti-gay rhetoric, the comedian packaged as jokes. During the time, the multifaceted comedian/actor released a formal apology to the LGBTQ community which wasn’t particularly well-received.
While Kevin Hart has revealed that he feels no type about the Academy choosing to remain hostless, he did express to Men’s Health magazine that his disdain for how he handled things with the Academy and how his peers confronted him about the debacle stating:
“With the whole Oscars thing, there was a big gap between what I thought the problem was versus what the problem really was. I got ten years where I made sure not to joke or play in the way that I did back then because it was a problem.”
Hart continued to the publication:
“It wasn’t until close friends like Wanda Sykes, Lee Daniels, and Ellen (Degeneres) talked to me and explained what they didn’t hear me say that I understood. Then I was like, ‘Oh, sh*t. I did f*ck up.'”
With the 2019 Academy Awards ceremony receiving its highest ratings in five years, the producers of the commemorative event have decided to move forward without a host for the 2020 92nd Annual Academy Awards. The 2020 Oscars will take place at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, CA this Sunday at 5 P.M. PST on ABC.
